Where would I start to troubleshoot an issue with the MTP Application?
If I select the Media Player or Kies options, the MTP Application continually crashes and restarts every second.
I have connected the device in USB Debugging mode, then reconnected again and it still does it.
I've done the driver installation in the kies application and I've reset both the PC and the phone, behaviour is consistent. Kind of frustrating as I can't upload media (DRM....).
IF anyone has advice on where I could start troubleshooting this issue I would greatly appreciate it

Here is a fix my friend but say goodbye to your saved games and files..
[try transferring or backup your files using wifi or bluetooth in case you have important files on your phone]
[and also, try to backup your phone contacts to your sim because formatting will wipe your entire phone's data]
Once that is done, try to do the following.. go to Settings -> SD card and Phone Storage -> Unmount SD -> Format SD
Once you have formatted the SD card, go to Settings -> Privacy and then choose "Factory Data Reset".
Your phone should now be detected once you connect it to your computer this time around.
Hope this helps.
I've done this once before. I spent a significant amount of time getting the right data under my contacts and linking them properly, I need to know how to find out why kies is borked. Otherwise I'll wipe the phone and possibly be stuck in the same situation again.
Have you had this issue occur and this fixed it though?
I had similar problem. Tried everything you mentioned and nothing helped.
In the end I formated externas SD card. Flashed SG1 firmware and rooted the device (all done in a matter of 30 min).
It fixed the MTP aplication crashes (dont know what of three really did it).
I'd been having the same problem on my Galaxy S.
It had been working fine, and I've done nothing to the phone to change anything with it.
Just opened the MTP App on the phone, then just crash, restart, crash etc and kept looping like that.
(Mines the Optus AU version too - might be a problem with something on there?)
Anyways I used the WebSharing app to download all my files to a zip on my computer, then unmounted and formatted the internal SD card - and then rebooted the phone.
Once it rebooted, moved the zip files (unzipped) back onto the internal SD as they were originally and plugged into the USB and it all worked again.
Hello everyone, I'm new here and own a Galaxy S now for two weeks. Yesterday I to noticed/encountered the rebooting mtp application when plugging in the cable while the USB settings are set to 'connect to Kies'.
To be short I tried all offered solutions found on this topic on the web and in the end only the unmounting and formatting of the INTERNAL sd has helpt.
I made a backup via Websharing since selecting the 'mass storage' option didn't work for me yesterday. Obviously this is a slow way to make a backup. Try to only back-up what you deem to be imported files.
So the unmounting - formatting and rebooting (mounting) of the INTERNAL cards is the quickest solution and will safe you hours of work!
HOWEVER
Today I had the same rebooting MTP issue again. But since re-installing kies version 1.5.1.10083 I'm able to connect to the pc via 'Mass Storage'
You will see drive F: and drive G: if you at least succeed in connecting via the mass storage option.
I than did 2 things:
1.
I recently made some pictures and also copied some pictures from my pc to the G: drive ( INTERNAL SD) I renamed the pictures to short names so they didn't exceed 16 characters (one of the solutions I read online ).
2.
In the map data I found folders with the names of in my case Touiteur and Beautiful Widgets. Both folders contain a CACHE folder. I deleted the complete touiteur folder and thus also its CACHE folder.
Now I connected my Galaxy S to the usb cable again and behold, the rebooting of the MTP has stopped!
Now I'm not technical at all and have struggled with this issue the whole of yesterday ending up formatting my internal SD. And to be honest I don't know for sure what the working solution is in the end but can narrow it down to 2 things you may try if you can connect via the 'mass storage' option:
1. try giving pictures in G:\DCIM\folder name a short name if they are long or try to remove the pictures completely (make backup) just to see if either of this works.
2. Delete the CACHE folders in the APP folder under G:\data and see if this works
Again, I'm unsure what or why I solved it on my Galaxy S but give it a try if you have tried everthing else and do not want to format your INTERNAL SD
I've got a fix
Alright guys, I posted a video on how to repair the MTP application problem, especially for you spencee, check it out. Go to youtube and copy paste: MTP Application Crash Fix. And click the first one. It's by abrar447. Hope this helps!
Ok, I'm having this issue again! I watched the video by Abrar447 and deleted every single file in cash I could find ( actually did a search on the word 'cache' on the internal drive. Although I know this should now work my TMP application keeps rebooting. Am I missing something here ?

Thanks again for posting this video. It actually worked for me, been trying to find the solution to that MTP crashing problem when trying to connect in Kies mode.
narrowed it down
I have this problem too. I saw the youtube vid and decided i'd delete one cache folder a time to see what was causing the problem. Found out that is was 'Sound Hound'. So i deleted the cache folder, MTP worked, then i used the app so it would create another cache folder, MTP clashed. Did it many times.
Hope this helps.

Really weird problem , after clearing the cache it works again.
I reccomend using CacheMate for Root Users (free or pro) which you can find in the market , you dont need to delete all the cache manually then
Hi..
Anyone know the exact name for the MTP Application..is there a way to replace the problematic version with a working version..On my ship with ROM. i9000dxjf4..MTP application showed steadily without keep crashing..
MtpApplication.apk
MtpApplication.odex.
If anyone has the working version (no crashing on Kies connection). can post here..I would like to experiment to overwrite it with a working version..

Perfect solution. Did the clearing manually - no success. Only Cachemate did the trick Thanks!

Hello,
I also had a lot of issue's with Kies. I also tried a lot. But the one thing that helped was removing SOUND HOUND (application and directory)
Hope this helpes for some people!
Cheers
I emptied the cache under the Android folder and it started working again. The thing is, as soon as I open the gallery, the cache is written again. I'll try to see if the new update fixed the issue.
The problem is the not cache in itself. The bug is the '16 character extension' problem. Google it if you like. The solution is to delete all the files having its last extension greater then 16 char, in your internal or external SD card.
I asked about the fix on twitter, the reply was this.
I found a small program which tell you which files are the problem.
Credits to the original creator, browse your SD card directory
Hello everybody,
i'm a bit new to Galaxy I9000 but i had the same issue with Kies and MTP apps. Actually i found out that the issue seems to be linked to file extension longer than 16 chars. Usually those files are inside cache directories so, you should just cancel them to fix it. I've got kies running correctly since then (last update of Kies running n Windows 7 64 bit). I know there is also a little app to scan files to search the 16 digits extension called "FileSearcherforKiesFix.rar" you can find it and download just putting it in google.
Hope this can help!

Is there an apk version of this? I'm unable to connect the phone to my x64 win7 at all right now...

Have tried everything and nothing seemed to work...
The "FileSearcherforKiesFix" finds some problematic files, but not all off them. Manually deleting long file names and cache folders seems to be insufficient either.. I think that there must be some cache files in other partitions that we cannot access via "Mass Storage" that are causing problems too. So we have to clear those files...
But thanks to a comment in this topic I have found a working solution:
1º Delete any problematic file with the "FileSearcherforKiesFix" method.
2º Use this app: http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.aac.cachemate.demo , with the option "PowerClear" turned on, and clear all cache from the phone.
After this the MTP thing installed instantly and now everything works.
NOTE: The "PowerClear" option may cause some undesired effects in some apps.. Backup first, or, use at your own risk.
For me the problem started when I copied lots of MP3 to my phone.
I solve this like this:
I connected my phone using the media mode.
Searched for all *.mp3 files
renamed them all to *.! (whatever extension)
(I use a program called FAR Manager, which is something similar to the old Norton commander, but for windows)
Connected with Kies and it got recognised
Hope it helps others
Hi,
I have downloaded the MIUI rom from:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=969661
[Mar 11 ]HD2 MIUI 1.3.11 SD/MAGLDR ROM (Kernel-AmeriCanAndroid r3.01)
Now I am facing the following issues......
Setup
I am booting this ROM from SD; so when starting it's booting to Win6.5, and I have to launch it from Win6.5.
Issue 1
okay, in Android
- marketplace
- searched for Angry Bird
- hit download, and I can see that Android passed the download link to the "download manager", and download manager quickly remove it from the download - no error message
was wondering if I need to create a folder for them to put the file?
Is it possible to download the "Angry Bird" application on my computer, USB sync it to the phone, and run the application from the phone?
Issue 2
- i registered for beta version of swype
- i download swype, and tried to install it using it's installer
- swype is unable to let me generate a license for it;
===> do I need to set up permission for applications to access my SD storage?
Issue 3
I just discovered that this ROM has links to MIUI Market Place! very similiar to Android marketplace
and this time when I choose to download software from it, it says failed to download (in chinese); I can surf internet and receive emails from gmail though.
Has this got something to do with my cluster size? It's currently at 8kb
PS: I couldn't get any response/support from the development forum, so I guess someone could help me if I were post in the right forum?
I don't know about the market issues, but u can definitely download apps and games from the network ,go to options>application and mark unknown sources so u can install non market apps-games, enable mass storage in android, transfer the files to the sd,access it with astro(any file manager) or any other program u have and just press the file u want and it will ask u if u want to install it.
about the market issues maybe switch to another rom.
after download some apk and installing them into the mobile, and after a few restart/reboot, I can download from market place now.......
Got the phone today. I noticed one thing that the capture during video functionality wasn't working at all.
I have a Redmi 1S as well. When i compared, the capture button during the video doesn't show up at all. Both for the rear and front cameras.
I am recording the videos at 1080p for both the cameras. Tried 720p as well. The issue persists. Please help.

There's a Update to that version already available on official site, as well on the OTA.
go to settings and about, then run system update when on WI-FI, and it would give you a update named
"miui_H3WGlobal_JHDMIBH38.0_59e44d8bab_4.2" of 555MB to download.
The file would be downloaded to phone memory under folder "downloaded_rom" and make sure you copy this ZIP file to PC
as after installation this file will get self destructed, so if you have a friend whom you wish to share this update you must copy it to PC.
or if you mess with something later, this ROM update would let you restore your phone.
You can install it from system update by touching the option button and chose "select update package" browse for this downloaded file and phone would reboot to complete the update.
Once done, you would certainly see improvement in phone working and more RAM would be available for apps etc.
However real fun of using this would start when this phone gets updated to any of the kitkat/CM12/Lollipop versions.
Hello guys. I have problem with my Oneplus 6t. Today I wanted to root my phone but I encountered a problem. I will try to explain simple.
1. I tried to do it using the same tutorial -------> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Es80k627kTc //// https://www.xda-developers.com/official-twrp-oneplus-6-huawei-p20-pro/ after uploading the files twrp and magisk on my phone and launching twrp (3:53) and going to the installation tab, I do not have any files that I've uploaded earlier from the computer. Files in this tab are as if encrypted. Something like
2h8P9lGY8I1A884LMsBjaA
2u+nb0LdBNopRSa5LehsvB
75aTrCvYkWG+R+lrcRz6WA
DcwYkwSKokq8Rm5lYc4YYC
In systems, the computer also sees the same characters in place, there is no possibility of uploading anything. I tried to erase the system and then upload files to the phone. TWRP will then notice the files normally, but you can not install them, crashes the error and after rebooting the phone stands in fastboot. However, I was able to restore the entire system back, but I'm still at the 3.53 tutorial stage.
At this link is a photo of the phone's system folder after connecting it to the computer and launching the twrp from the laptop
https://www.fotosik.pl/zdjecie/usun/0r0~nR_1RrbrxeX9m0crzLaMr_ZOpH
I apologize for the language but I use mostly google translate.Does anyone know what can be done with this? I will add that after removing the system there is still no twrp on the phone
Have you tried reading the actual 6T threads on the matter, and using 6T specific twrp?

guys, thank you very much everything works as it should: D I've been sitting here for about four hours.
Hello, ladies and lads!
Here's a short version of where I'm at: after installing Wondershare' s dr.phone Recovery on my mom's PC and using it on her phone:
its screen won't respond to touch (can't enter SIM card's PIN nor open screen lock)
the On/Off button won't turn off the phone on long press (maybe due to screen lock)
on restart there's a yellow text that reads "Set Warranty Bit : kernel"
the physical buttons still work
I can see the phone's files and folders only through PC's command prompt, using ADB ('This PC\Galaxy Grand Prime' folder in Win Explorer says it's empty).
Ideally I want to keep her data (FB Messenger, Skype, Chrome, WiFi passwords, etc), and her phone to function again. What do you think I should do?
I think I need an advice and suggestions from someone more experienced than me - I don't even know trusted sites where to download the firmware roms from.
The phone's details are (I'm afraid you'll have to walk me through to get more details to this list, as I'm new to the forum):
Phone: Samsung Grand Prime
Model name: SM-G530FZ
Firmware version: G530FZXXS1BQC2 (Android 5.0.2 with Baltic bloatware, I guess)
Now in detail:
My knowledge and experience regarding the smartphone software & restoration is very basic (I've only restored the firmware to a LG-L70 once some years ago, and that's it).
Before the problem I lost some over 600 media files from that phone by Cutting and Pasting a folder from phone's internal SD to PC's disc. Now I learned never to Cut-Paste important or irreplaceable files. The files ended up on the phone, because a folder with over 800 files couldn't be uploaded to the Google Drive (the camera's folder had over 1k files in it, so I moved some of them to another folder, which the phone created on the internal partition rather than the SD Card, where the original folder was from).
Instead of using a trusted software, I foolishly Googled a photo recovery program for phones, using my mom's PC. A list of bogus recovery program sites appeared (had to look them up on her PC, as I found only legit, widely trusted programs now, using my laptop. Those darn Google's personalized search result algorithms!).
Before using the dr.fone Recovery software I synced most of the data to her account.
Used the "free" dr.fone Recovery software as per its site's instructions, the phone did a restart and the touchscreen went unresponsive to touch. Later the software showed the lost files it found, and offered to restore them for a sum. Naturally I declined.
The software said that to return the phone to normal I need to disconnect the USB cable. I did so, but the phone's screen remained unresponsive to touch, even after restart (long-press [Pow] + [Vol-]).
I tried connecting an USB mouse via the dongle, but the mouse cursor didn't appear (maybe this phone doesn't have this functionality).
Now, after using that FAIL-covery program, I was overly cautious not to make things even worse.
I wanted to make a copy of the phone's internal SD state (or is it called a phone's hard drive?), to get the media files from the clone and to have a backup of mom's files.
But I failed: I downloaded APK, ncat, KingoRoot and BusyBox. Tried to follow the steps in this video: youtu[dot]be/KKkvkCgMeMA. Got stuck at "busybox not found" at about 10:27 mark in that video ("dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0" "busybox nc -l -p 8888"). Turns out you need to run some of the apps from that phone prior to that step, and I don't know any workarounds.
Then I remembered that the files were on the external SD in the first place. Well duh! I then connected the Micro SD card to PC's reader via a Micro SD adapter. To make a copy of the SD card's 1s & 0s, and to restore the media files from said copy I used ZAR (Zero Assumption Recovery) z-a-recovery[dot]com/. The backup creation (an .ISO file or some such) and media recovery are free of charge.
Now I only need to remove duplicates and blurry pics (I think I had a Moleskinsoft's Clone Remover from an old PC magazine's CD lying around somewhere for the latter). Oh, and I better not forget to run a malware scanner on her PC and remove the mr.fone installed services and folders from it. Went a bit off-topic here, sorry!
Last I pulled a wifi passwords file with "adb pull /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf" command as per instructions on this page: mashtips[dot]com/see-wifi-password-android/. I don't know whether putting the file back on that phone will do the trick or not.
That's pretty much all.
I hope the situation can be resolved and I appreciate your input! :fingers-crossed: Maybe someone has come across a similar post, has constructive commentary or knows something obvious that I haven't come up with? Thank you in advance!
Edit 30 Jan '19: Got the phone working. Accessed the phone with a Chrome browser extension (name here). All accounts except some mail account were gone. WiFi didn't work.
Found a stock ROM here: (address here).
Found the Odin3 tool here: (address here). It came with a different locale ROM.
Flashed the 1st ROM with Odin. The screen started to work.
Flashed the 1st ROM with Odin again. The WiFi started working.
I'll update this with links soon.
I've got the exact same problem after using Dr Fone app!
Hi there.
I've got the same problem with my Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime after using Dr Fone, like you. I contacted Wondershare website from which I downloaded the app but they haven't bothered replying. Not happy at all!!
I contacted Samsung's support team and after trying different things (the usual stuff: reboot; remove the battery and SIM card; restart in Safe Mode; etc) which didn't solve the problem, they ended up telling me to reset the phone to the factory settings but that didn't work either.
Now my phone is stuck on the Samsung Galaxy Welcome screen which asks me to choose the language I want on my phone. The touchscreen is still unresponsive.
How did you manage to fix the problem if the touchscreen was unresponsive?
Thanks in advance for your help!
