Screen switches to home screen while using any application. - Xperia Z1 General

Hi everyone. Since the past two days, I am facing an unusual problem. Whenever I am using any application, browsing internet, browsing through pictures, my screen automatically switches to the home screen. Its happenong for the past 2 days and doesnt seem related to. 136 update. Please help. It becomes very irritating and happend almost 10 -15 seconds of using any application.

check the last installed programs. (2 or 3 days ago)

Do a factory reset.
Install all apps you think are necessary, but not all at once.
Try to see what app caused this problem.
If the issue persists, I don't know what could've caused it and you may want to contact your supplier (probably not the case though).

It appears to be due to X alert which i activated. But now i m not able to uninstall or deactivate it. Kinldy advise.

I had the same problem after installing x-alert and only way to get around is deactivate it from security > administrators. It would confirm password and then get deactivated (its buggy at times) It even tends to blank-out the screen.
Once u disable from administrators, disable it from settings > apps.
That fixed it for me!

Can't remove parts of Skype

I installed skype but it caused the qtek 9100 to crash randomly and very often. I removed the software, but now almost everytime i come from standby mode i have a notification box that it could not run programs/skype.exe
This is really annoying as I already removed the prog, and I have no clue what is trying to run skype on the phone. How can I check this / remove this?
Thanks.

I had the same problem. Using the software "check notifications" I removed skype.exe and the problem is solved.
The software also increases the performence by removing multiple running processes.

These arent my words, ive just copied and pasted from another pocket pc forum. Maybe it'll help.
Problems like this come from invalid entries in the DB_notify_events WinCE database. You can correct this by hand (if reinstalling & uninstalling Skype doesn't cure it):
1, get Pocket dbExplorer from http://www.phatware.com/hpcdbex.html
2, install and run
3, go to DB_notify_events
4, go to the last entry of the list on the lower half of the screen - the 2nd "TEXT" entry. You'll see the EXE name in the upper half of the screen.
5, press the right arrow until you see a link to Skype.exe.
6, press AT THIS RECORD the Delete button.
Hm, I don't find the DB_notify_events. I wonder if you have to buy the product in order to be able to do this.
I still haven't solved this problem
Is this what one can expect when Microsoft hits the mobile? ...just waiting for the viruses and BSODs to hit.

How does getting rid of Skype from Notifications help
Not knocking it, but how does getting rid of Skype from the list of notifications help ?
Not knocking it because it seems to have worked!!
Update: I still got a Skype erro after doing the remove, but since doing a Clear in Check Notify it hasn't re-occurred. Fingers crossed.

[Q] Air View broken in stock email app

So this is a weird little issue that started yesterday, same day I got my S4. Air View works fine for every app but the email app. Instead of the full text, I just see this chopped off little text bubble (see attachment). It happens on either of the two email accounts I have in the app, one exchange, one aol (yes, I am ashamed). Already tried to remove both the accounts, clear the app cache, clear app data, then re-add the accounts. Same thing. Wondering if anyone has seen this issue yet or if it's just me.
S4 is stock, no root, no nothing. Had already installed all apps and changed my launcher before the issue started. Can't think of anything off the top of my head that I changed directly before I noticed the problem. Any help would be appreciated, I get a lot of emails and would love to have this working again.

Yeah I did, but I found out what was actually causing it. I was using Light Flow for my notifications and didn't know about the existing issues when you enable it in the accessibility options.
FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW about the problem caused, basically there is a known glitch when you try to turn on Light Flow under the accessibility options. It will try to turn on TalkBack, but only some of the TalkBack functions work, which made it hard to diagnose. Turning on TalkBack, disabling all the settings, and turning it back off won't help, neither will disabling the app. Since TalkBack disables settings such as Air View, some of the functionality is lost when you turn the settings back on. The author of Light Flow knows about the issue and is trying to work on it according to an in app message I glazed over the first time. In the meantime, plenty of other notifications still work if you don't turn on accessibility.
Thanks for the response though, hopefully this info will help others.
I have the exact same issue, except light flow isn't installed. Any other ideas?

Could you have something else installed that's causing the issue? I would disable it, reboot, and try again.
I suppose there's always the possibility something else is effecting it, but unsure what! Tried what you suggested and still not working
The way I fixed the talkback issue was to freeze both Google and Samsung text-to-speech in titanium backup.
I've still never seen air view work anywhere but in the browser though. Maybe there is a setting buried somewhere, I only discovered yesterday that the toggles in motion and gestures settings also have sub-menus with settings for individual features (and also when you tap a feature name and then 'try it' there can be more settings like sensitivity for motion zoom and pan).
Do any of you have a pebble? That'd s what was causing the issue for me. Basically if if talkback is being utilized, airview will not work.

I am using LG Tone+ wireless headphone with n9005 and because I enabled its application in the accessibility options, this error happened to me.
Please check any application that might be installed and enabled under the services under accessibility options and disable/ enable until you find the one that causes this problem.
Hope this would help.
btw, thanks guys for the tip, it gave me the idea

[Q] Delay in Opening Contacts in Note 3

Hello guys,
I'm new to the forum
I notice that there's a slight delay opening Contacts (3 seconds+) and Dialer (1 second+) in my Note 3.
However after opening it once, there's no delay opening it the second time,
unless I clear the Contacts Apps in the running apps and open it again.
I'm not sure if this happens from the fist time I unbox it; I didn't really pay attention at the time.
Maybe this happens after I turn off and uninstall updates on some of the bloatwares, but I'm not sure.
ROM is stock Samsung, everything is still stock. Just some updates to some of the stock apps.
I haven't installed any new apps yet. However, I do turn off and uninstall updates on some of the bloatware.
I've also changed the 3 settings (cant remember the names, animator or something) on the Developer Options to OFF.
And I've removed the S Voice from the Home Button too.
The Note 3 is the Exynos one. Stock Samsung.
There are about 800 contacts, all google contacts. They are also synced, together with gmail. These contacts are imported from BB 10 OS, and some have pictures from the BBM.
Does anyone else have this problem, and is there a fix for this? I've searched the forum, seems like some have this issue, but I can't find any real fix for this.
Thanks!
Sounds normal to me. It has to re-launch the app, and the app then has to re-scan all your contacts. 800 contacts is a lot to scan through, so 1-5 seconds is to be expected.
No lag here. Did you try a restart with cache wipe? Usually that solves similar problems.
Sent from my SM-N9005 using xda app-developers app
I noticed the same lag. I actually noticed it on my previous phone (SGS 3). At that time, I used GoContacts/Dialer, which I thought might be the cause of that. After removing it, same lag with the stock dialer/contacts.
Besides, I was a flash-addict, and I noticed that on every ROM I tried.
And now, even if it's a bit quicker, I still notice it on my new Note 3 (@stock/rooted). But unlike on my SGS3, it's only the first time you open dialer/contacts that it appears (as long as the system doesn't kill the process).
I wonder if it might be a good idea to force keeping that process opened.

Solved. It turned out that my issue was caused by turning off Chat ON app.
I actually turned it off when I first got the phone, and now I tried to turn it back ON.
The lag is actually reduced to 1-1.5 seconds (much more acceptable than 3 seconds).
For others with the same issue, hope this helps

Glad to know you found resolution to your problem. Like another post suggested, when you are syncing your contacts to a device through a 3rd party application such as GMail, Exchange, Yahoo etc... The application runs an API in the background at application launch which pulls all your information onto the device. When you automatically sync, your device periodically sends a request to the server for contact details, task details, calendar details etc...
800 contacts and whatever other events you're syncing will definitely take time. If you press & hold your home button and your swiping your application out of memory and then reloading, like suggested, this is going to take a few seconds. By turning Chat On back on, this has limited the lag which is acceptable to you. This definitely is not a "problem" as I've initially stated but instead more of a communications lag between the device, your server and the API which is engaging in the communications.
Hope this helps!

I noticed that the lag goes off when I disable sync. Try doing that bro, do a two two finger swipe and disable sync from the notification panel and Try launching the contacts application again

HELP - Notifications not coming through when screen is off

Hi everyone,
I've been having a very strange problem for a couple of days now. Whenever my phone's screen is off and the phone has been idle for some time, I don't receive notifications anymore. Facebook notifications don't work at all, no matter whether the phone is active or not, but I also don't get FB Messenger and WhatsApp notifications. Sometimes they come through as soon as I turn on the screen, and sometimes I only see them when I open the respective app. I didn't mess with app permissions, and I also have set each app to "important" in the notification settings. It also doesn't seem to matter whether I'm on WiFi or on mobile data.
Gmail, SMS and calls don't seem to be a problem, although I sometimes have a feeling that emails come through to my phone with a considerable delay, as compared to my Gmail inbox on my computer.
The strange thing is, when I had the phone all new, everything worked as it should and I received ALL notifications from EVERY app IMMEDIATELY when they came in. This issue with notifications no longer coming through started occurring a couple days ago after I had first flashed the Boeffla Kernel (though I'm not sure if it has anything to do with that.) So I went back to the stock kernel, but the problem was still there. Then I re-flashed my original Nandroid backup from when I had first flashed TWRP, in order to set the system back to "stock", wiped data and cache, re-installed every app (the critical ones, i.e. Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp, via Play Store, and the non-critical ones via Titanium Backup), and the problem is still there. I've done this three times now, to no avail.
My phone is rooted and I have Xposed installed, I'm using SuperSU and a number of root apps such as 3c Toolbox, Le DPI Changer and Font Installer. 3c Toolbox is set to clear caches on every reboot. As for Xposed, I use only VibrateMode to change the notification slider from all/important/none to all/vibrate/none, and GravityBox to center the clock in the status bar and to set the volume buttons to skip tracks on long press. I also have Glimpse Notifications installed so that the screen lights up when a notification comes in.
The funny thing is, notifications not coming through is one of the reasons I switched to the OPT from the Huawei Mate 7, where this issue was due to power management settings by Huawei. Since I'm now back on the stock kernel and have also no power saving apps such as Greenify or Amplify enabled, I am really out of ideas as to why this happens. The next step is to flash a fully stock OOS 2.1.2 (my Nandroid backup is already rooted and with my Google account set up), wipe data and cache, and re-install every app again.
Does anyone here have any idea what the problem (and the solution to it) might be?
UPDATE: After I wrote the last sentence, I received two messages simultaneously, one from Messenger and one from WhatsApp. I was at home and on WiFi, and both coming in at the same time must mean that the phone receives push notifications in fixed intervals, since the sender of both messages was the same person and sent them consecutively, i.e. with at least a minute in-between. Now I am especially confused since a) they came through at all, even though the screen was off and the phone had been idle for at least 15 minutes, and b) they came through at the same time, which was definitely not the time when they had been sent.
The confusion is complete now ... any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
The problem persists. Today for half a day I received all notifications, after that once again only when I turned on the screen or opened the respective app. WiFi all the time, no settings changed in between.
This really annoys me to no end. I don't own an expensive smartphone so it doesn't work as it should. I never had any troubles like this with my old Sony Xperia V. Then again it ate through a full battery in half a day ...

Yes. As I said, I reflashed my original (rooted but otherwise unaltered) Nandroid backup and then reinstalled all apps, and am not using anything that could interfere with apps receiving notifications.
The order in which notifications come through automatically vs. only when I activate the display or open the respective app also doesn't seem to follow any regularity ... sometimes it works as it should, sometimes it doesn't.
As for Facebook notifications, I somehow have a feeling this is a specific FB-related problem. But as for Messenger, WhatsApp and now also Instagram as I've noticed, it's all the same issue as described in my original post. The only exception really seems to be Gmail, which always notifies me of new emails.
EDIT: All these apps have unaltered permissions, i.e. are allowed to keep the phone awake, and all apps are set to "important" for notifications, so this doesn't seem to be the issue either.
EDIT 2: I also installed push notification fixer to see what interval is set for the GCM services, and it's set to 5 minutes on WiFi and 6 minutes on mobile data. So that also can't be the issue.
Could the screen not lighting up when a notification comes in have something to do with deep sleep, possibly? But then why does it work for Gmail???

I could suggest you one more thing. Its a shot in the dark .
Could you check "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" in you advanced Wi-Fi settings ?
If the above is not a problem then out of ideas buddy. As a last option you could clean flash by wiping everything and just install whatsapp and other apps in which you are facing a notification delay. If it works then there could be some other application interfering , it it doesn't then i am not sure what it could be.

i do remember reading some time ago that these intervals do not impact the battery life, but you could test for yourself just to be sure
So, currently most notifications are working again for me, for whatever reason. Facebook being the big exception, of course. Might have to do with keeping the apps opened in the multitasking overview. If that's what it takes, then fine ...

Which app? Only Facebook, or other apps as well? For me it's working now, but I can't say why exactly. I use a number of tweaks on my phone (root, Xposed framework etc.) so I can't definitely say which of my apps cause issues and which fix them again.
As for Gmail, it appears that when there's already a notification for an email and a little later another one comes in, it won't play a sound or vibrate. That seems to be standard behaviour but I find it VERY annoying, even though I set Gmail to notify me on EACH incoming email.
despite suggesting a fix i seem to be experiencing the same problem as well. it happens on both wifi and mobile data so you cant blame any settings. my best guess would be its because of the latest update. gonna have to backup my data and revert back to the older firmware to solve this issue.

Not really, no. Mine are currently working again, after I re-flashed the stock system and set up everything again step-by-step. It's possible that some app or tweak or setting caused the issue, but I couldn't find out which one.

i suspected it could be because of restoring apps from titanium backup directly instead of downloading and installing them from the play store first, but even with that i still face the same problem. currently on oxyslim. come to think of it, could it be caused by the power tweaks? did you use them before when you faced the problem?
Same problem here on OOS3.0.1. Inbox and WhatsApp messages don't often come through until I turn on the screen. Completely stock. Didn't have the problem on CM13, I think. It's really annoying because I can miss a lot of important emails from work. Even put the apps I want in No Battery Optimization mode. No help really.
i have the same problem. I'm on OOS3.0.2 with Cyanoxy. Can anyone help?
Same problem here...
What the F?
This device is almost a year old and I still can't use it as PHONE. I am not asking for some fancy stuff, but fixing the gigantic bugs that are preventing me from even using this daily.
Fix for those willing to tweak the system: install the latest Boeffla kernel, it has an option to turn off doze.

Same here.
ahh so thats the "critical update" i declined. Was wondering what it was since there were no apps that needed updating in the store. Wonder what it does
It's update for fixing DQA keeps stopping issue.
I had mine suddenly download and install 3 things from the galaxp app store yesterday without me knowing anything about it. Personalized service client, samsung pass, and LED view cover icon editor. I thought I had been hacked and someone was downloading sutff to my phone!! No idea why it suddenly started doing that by itself. I have turned auto update apps off now in the galaxy app store, I guess they were already installed and were just auto updating (and i have no disabled them all in package disabler since they all seemed like junk).
I dont know what DQA does, wonder if its another one we can safely disable.

From what I understand, DQA has to do with checking the quality of your Wi-Fi. You'll notice if you turn your Wi-fi off, you'll stop getting those messages. Some have had success with going into your running Apps and force stopping the DQA. That didn't help me though and rebooting several times (which has also helped some) didn't work for me either. Still working through options. If anyone has other ideas...

I havent had any issues with or or any messages about it either before it updated or after. I usually have wifi on but have turned it off today and not noticed anything either. I have not disabled it in package disabler as i didnt know what it did, it doesnt seem to be using battery so i will just leave it on.
This is what I've found from Android Authority...
- Reboot device (may need to repeat a few times)
- Clear cache partition through recovery (turn off phone, press and hold Power, Volume Up and Bixby button. On Android screen, when you see ‘No command’ hold power and press volume up to access recovery. Use volume keys to highlight ‘Wipe cache partition’ and press Power to select. Highlight ‘Yes’ and press Power to confirm, then reboot phone)
- Turn off Wi-Fi
- Disable high performance mode
- Force quit DQA app (go to Settings > Apps and tap the overflow menu (three dots at the top right), tap ‘Show system apps’ and locate DQA. Tap it and ‘Force stop’)
- Disable DQA app with BK Package Disabler (costs $1.50, does not require root). Install app, grant permissions, swipe to System tab, find DQA and check the box next to it (simply uncheck to re-enable).
I haven't tried all these options yet. Let me know if any help should you decide to try.
I'm bumping this topic. Tried googling DQA, but very little seems to be known about it. If it indeed is checking the quality of the wifi, is it really safe to disable?

Hi, have you found any info regarding DQA? I found it among the recommended apps to disable/uninstall on Universal Android Debloater, but still I read somewhere that some of the apps disabled through UAD might be important, so I'm not sure about what to do.

No. I'd leave it active.
