Hello friends
I have a peculiar problem on my Note 3 when I am roaming.
First the facts:
It is S9005 model (Snapdragon model). It is unlocked model - not locked to any carrier.
I have rooted it and have Omega Jelly Bean ROM installed.
I was using it in my home country - India and it was working just fine.
I just came to UK and put in a UK sim card. Funny thing - the card is recognized and the data works fine on the phone. But when I try to make any calls, it starts to dial and immediately disconnects within seconds. Also no SMS is being sent.
Similarly when someone tries to call me it says number not reachable.
Oddly when I put back my India SIM in it while being in UK, even that one has same performance. i.e. data working but call/SMS not working.
Can anyone help?
Help anyone?

Does your phone still have the original IMEI and SN (printed under battery)?
What region was the phone originally?
What effective CSC are you right now?
Have you eliminated the problem with international prefixes in the numbers?
Have you eliminated the problem with international prefixes in SMS call center?

Yes, I need help and guidance for this new Note 3 that my wife received gift from my mother-in-law (a bit jealous at that time) when we were in India but so far unable to use in UK network for long.
phone details:

Android version - 4.4.2
Baseband version - N900DDUDNA1
Kernal version -

The phone was sold to us as International unlocked phone in last week of february, we didn't put any SIM but once started the phone in Mumbai it didn't ask for any regional lock or sim unlock code so we were satisfied that phone is unlocked. We didn't test it with any SIM in India though. First we put the SIM in UK and as usual it didn't prompt for unlock code etc. straight we got signal on Three uk network
but signal only lasted around 1min. When I checked signal strength it kept changing and the phone gets no signal. Have been in constant touch with 3 Network in UK(london area) and they are confirming that this phone can work in UK on there network without any issue unless there is a hardware fault.
I have spent numerous hours resetting the phone/ selecting network/ trying SIMs from different provider but signal comes and goes. When its there I can make and receive calls without any problem.
Once I made a call for more than 12 mins but signal doesn't last that much anymore.
It goes like this in Mobile Network type - H --> H+ --> HSDPA then drops (with signal strenth -113dBm 0 asu) when asu is higher it works. All this happens within a minute time frame. The wifi works fine hence software updated.
Now I feel there is problem in its Antenna but I need expert advise before I send it back to India as Samsung UK refused to fix it since phone is not bought in UK (though I was ready to pay for it) but now I guess they don't have anybody in UK to repair such phones.
Please suggest to fix this issue if you or people in your network have had such issue before and how do I resolve it?
Kind regards,

Many thanks for reply as suggested
for option 1 - I tried before and now as well on sammobile when I select N900 I do not get UK in the country dropdown list to select the different firmware, whatever firmware they have for india is already updated on my phone
that leaves option 2 which I am more interested in because when I restart the modem using any app it comes back quickly but again goes dead.
I am new user so can't post any request in Dev section and searched but couldn't find it. is there any specific search term I need to use to get modem firmware for UK for my N900?

Hi there!
I bought a Galaxy Note III in Thailand, unlocked, and I am trying to use it in India, Vodafone. Data is working perfectly but when I try to register it on network is not possible. I already went to the company and replaced the sim card. Same problem. When I was in Thailand it worked perfectly, even I tried in Nepal and it was working 100% too, so phone is ok. Somewhere I read there is a new system to avoid bringing phones form one country to another. Some help would be apreciate. Thanks in advance. Be happy

maybe you should try another network sim card or go into the settings and search for networks and then hit automatic
Then maybe you both need to flash your own regions rom?
Check your imei number, does it different from under the battery? Your phone probably been injected with superimei which did not work with gsm mode (it work in wcdma). You need to find a repair shop which has the SPT BOX to repair your gsm connection.

Mat if u search in indian forum same problem of yours faced by others, your phone is unlocked threw super IMEI which works in only 3G, u must go to Good mobile repair shop who has some sophisticated tools to fix your problem, keep flashing different ROM etc will make things more complicated as this is a known problem, as someone suggested follow below link.

I bought faulty phone Samsung Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005 with the broken screen. Earlier it was is locked on Vodafone. I couldn't test this phone as my Sim card doesn't belong to Vodafone. I replaced the screen and phone again works. It was Android 4.3. Then I bought NCK and DEFREEZE codes and made unlock. Then I made update (by air) and now it is unlocked Android 4.4.2. When now I dial number and press the Call button, then immediately call ends. The phone also does not send or receive SMS. Help me please.

Its blocked by network, Happend to a friend of mine when he didnt finish paying the payment on the phone whatever sim he puts it never work
Thanks for your quick reply.
It has some solution?
What solution was found by your friend for this problem?
It seems to me that it is blocked by the operator, however IMEI and serial number are present at phone. Also it well is registered in any network with any SIM-card. But I can make only the emergency call 112.
Hello,
I recently bought a S5 in the netherlands (i live and use the phone in belgium). Started it up, everything works fine. I make one phonecall as required for the regionlock, works fine.
Then something strange happens, after the one phonecall required, i cant accept or make phonecalls anymore.
I get a message "your phone has been locked due to security reasons"
Now the weird thing is, if i use a simcard from another carrier, the phone just works fine, no locking whatsoever...
Called Samsung support, told the story, they tell me phone is region locked and i need to get a code, but the phone never asks me for a code nor can i put one in anywhere.
So i called my provider, they tell me the phone is blacklisted probably but they cant check that...
After some research i found out the phone is actualy from UK with an international firmware on it: G900FXXU1ANG2 (countrycode BTU)
Anyone have an idea how to get rid of this problem?
I dont want to root the phone just yet in case i have to exchange it for another one.
Would it help to get the countryspecific stock firmware installed for my country? (Belgium)
thanks a lot for the help
thale
You'd get better help if you gave us more details, notably verbatim error messages, rather than paraphrasing.
Your provider can certainly tell you if your phone is blacklisted since an IMEI blacklist is under their direct control. So ask them again to clarify that. Region locking is much more likely though. Samsung region locks phones to prevent grey market sales, which is exactly what you've tried to do. The region lock is released after you use the phone a short while with a provider in the original region, which sounds like the UK in your case. Region locking is also a type of blacklist, although that term is almost always used to refer to carrier IMEI blacklisting unless otherwise specified.
As you didn't make any preliminary calls in the UK, nor apparently did the previous owner (or vendor), the phone is now restricted. You could travel to the UK and use your phone there for a day to dissipate the region lock. Or a lot of people claim that a regular SIM unlock code, such as you can buy on Ebay or any number of other places will also remove the region lock (unconfirmed). Or you can root your phone and circumvent the region lock by editing the blocked regions in your customer.xml file.
There are lots of existing threads on this subject, as you would know if had you done a search. Refer to those for further elaboration or you can search my post history as I've posted in detail how to remove the region lock in previous posts.

Thanks for the reply, this forum was my last resort since i didnt understand the problem.
I dont get any error messages at all.
provider A in S5 --> while calling i get the message phone blocked for security reason
provider A in S4 mini --> works perfectly
Provider B in S5 --> works perfectly
so i thought problems lies with faulty simcard, exchanged it but problem stays
when i call samsung they tell me its a provider problem
when i call my provider they say its a phone problem
in europe shouldnt matter realy where you buy your phone since there's free traffic of goods and services. I wonder if the webshop knows they are selling UK phones, ill talk to them about it tomorrow.
thanks again for the reply ill try to get the problem sorted, if that doesnt work at all, i guess ill just root it and fix the problem
kind regards,
thale
Humh, sounds weird.
Use the code *#7465625# (*#SIMLOCK#) to check for the lock status. On some devices this code needs root to launch.

If I understood you correctly, your SIM card works properly in other phones. So your SIM card shouldn't be the issue. If your S5 is SIM unlocked (carrier unlocked), you could try someone else's SIM card in your S5 to rule out less common problems e.g. bent SIM socket.
And regardless, in your place, I'd open a support ticket with your provider. That should cover anything like a IMEI blacklist. All in all though it does sound like region locking. Which is Samsung blocking a phone from being used in a different region unless it has been first activated (i.e. used for a few calls) in the original region first. I wouldn't think that a region lock between two parts of Europe would be intentional, but it is still something to look into.
Without any explicit error messages, it is difficult to narrow down the cause. You might consider installing a logcat app to capture the system log which may have more information about the error.
Also try dialing *#06* and ensure that you have a valid IMEI (not all zeros)
And dial *#0011#. You should see a (IMEI) certificate "Pass"if at the end. If it says IMEI CERTI: FAIL or NA you may have a flash error or IMEI blacklist.

Try to use Provider A with another sim card?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Had another talk with the helpdesk from the provider, they told me the phone is blacklisted but couldnt give me a reason why.
Im only blacklisted with provider A, if u use the phone with another simcard from another provider it works like a charm.
Ive had to send them my proof of purchase, and they will unblock the phone...
Havent had any feedback yet from the shop i bought it from, so maybe they can shine a new light on the whole deal!
Try
How about contacting the retailer? I think you'd better not root the phone or fix it by yourself.
Hi all,
I recently upgraded from a Note 2 to a Note 4.
Will try and explain the issue - it's only small but bugs me.
My previous sim was Orange and the new sim is EE 4G.
As this was an upgrade I was told my number would transfer to this new phone (Orange and EE are basically the same company in the UK - in fact my old Note 2 showed EE as the network carrier with the Orange sim).
My problem is when I put the new sim supplied in my new Note 4 according to the phone company the sim will take on a temp number until the transfer is complete. However when I make calls to others, my number appears correctly on their phones (same number as was in Note 2). I can no longer make calls on my Note 2 so assume the transfer has been actioned.
HOWEVER the phone is still showing the wrong (temporary?) number in About Phone > Status.
I can find no way to clear this and display the correct number.
Any ideas?!?
Mine does same too.. Im on ee but transfered my old number over but phone shows only number ee gave me
I dont think you can do anything until your provider remotly update your sim.
Sent from my SM-N910T using XDA Free mobile app
Thanks guys,
I received an update this morning requesting I reset phone.
After reset I now have correct number albeit the international dialling version - starts 00447 rather than 07 but that's near enough for me.
Strange how all other sims I have display normal non-international number but meh.
Mine is on o2 and shows international number as well. Guess this is how the new 4g sims work on the Note 4.
I recently switched to EE from 3 and the sim had the temporary number, so that was displayed in About Phone. I popped the card in an iPhone, edited the number and put it back on my Note.

ThanKs
the number is stored on the sim
android phones dont offer the feature to edit it for some reason
pop it in an old dumb phone
Sony Ericsson K800i etc and edit it there
then pop back in your android device
