[Q] Few quick questions about my newly rooted gs4 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Recently I was able to make straight talk work through my Sprint GS4. I had to flash to mdc to make it work.
Here are my questions:
If I want to update my phone through official FW updates, will that reset anything I have done to my phone? There is mk2 update in my status bar that has been there forever. Can I install it, or if not, is there a way to remove the icon from the status bar?
Also, being a Sprint phone, another icon is in the status bar that always tries to "activate my device", is there any way to have this removed from the status bar?

Device Status Fix

While I don't see what the issue with the device status saying custom, I did come across this thread in the AT&T section. Before I bookmark it for myself (just incase I need to reset) would this work on a Sprint version?

I previously rooted my gs4 using the only method available for mf3, then I used regionlock away to sim-unlock. It worked fine, except OTA update of 4.3 wouldn't work because the device status was custom. So I had to relock the sim lock using regionlock away making the the device status official again, so the OTA worked eventually. Now the problem is the device status became custom again after reboot. Does anyone know how to change it back to official under 4.3? Thanks.

Dumb question
How do I get rid of the annoying update notification in the status bar? Can't update due to root and TWRP.
Tries disabling it in update centre but didn't work.

freeze Software Update MUC..... thats what its called on the VZW model.... probably something similar on other variants

[Q] [HELP]Galaxy S4 LTE GT-I9505 OTA URL

Hi XDA,
I have a Singtel(Code: SIN) Galaxy S4 International LTE version on XXUFNBE Android 4.4.2. I've recently rooted my phone, and started playing around with my system. However, soon I found out about the 'Custom' Device Status preventing software updates and wanted to re-flash back to stock un-modified official Samsung 4.4.2 Kitkat ROM. I didn't want to use Odin and flash the .tar.md5, as I felt that that wasn't the real "Official" ROM. I wanted the Kitkat flashable zip from Samsung's FOTA servers, but I couldn't find the link. I Googled all over and nobody knew. I would appreciate anyone's help in finding the URL for the flashable ROM zip file. Thanks a lot! I'll need the zip ASAP, as my father wasn't pleased with me modifying my phone either.
Use Triangle Away for reset your flash counter and change the status CUSTOM to Official. This is a good way for receive OTA/Kies 3 updates :highfive:

I'm sorry, I'm afraid you don't get me. By "Official", I mean in Settings>About Device>Status, under "Device Status", it says "Official", not "Custom". Triangle Away only sets the "Current Binary" to "Samsung Official", but not the one under the Settings app. If the one under Settings isn't "Official", you won't be able to use Samsung's OTA update feature. However, Triangle Away only allows you to claim warranty, but not software update.

4.4.2 (NC4) Custom Status

was on stock 4.4.2 and used towelroot to root which went fine. used supersu i think 2.45 or 2.46 and it hung on shutting down knox. i restarted phone and i get custom status boot screen and it also says custom status in about phone status area.
is there an easy fix to get rid of the custom boot screen and also fix for custom status in about phone?
what rom is best for a pure aosp experience? CM isnt avail for this device?
1 more thing.
i believe this is a pure untouched stock verizon note 3 but i was able to do the *#27663368378# and get into hidden menu before i ever rooted.
anyhow that custom boot splash screen is really annoying.
knox = 0x0 still so thats good
i was able to get rid of the custom boot animation screen with triangle away.
i still get custom for device status in about phone.
im not using phone with verizon but instead with pageplus.
how do i disable the voice mail update notification?
i have titanium backup pro and am rooted and i also have es file manager installed.
is there a service i can freeze or apk i can rename to fix this?
