So I rooted my phone and then tried taking the ota and lost my root. I had custom status and custom bootloader but no su binaries installled. So I just odined the stock MJ7 and when the phone cut back on, it was like my phone was the same but my status now changed to official and lost custom bootloader and what not. Was my phone supposed to come out like new out the box or was it supposed to stay the same with the current apps and ect?

Using odin for MJ7 does not wipe data or apps. You can use kingo to root again.
The problem is the phone is showing Custom when the phone is turned on. I was on MF3, had rooted via the SD card method. The custom appeared at that point. I did a factory reset and the custom went away and lost root but the superuser app was still showing in the app draw (factory reset did not delete this). I was planning on reloading the MF3 firmware via odin but lent the phone to my daughter while I replaced the screen in her note2. Well of course she got the upgrade message to 4.3 from AT&T, did it and now the unlocked custom is back. Not sure why as it was showing as official, the trip counter was still 0 (never installed a ROM on it) BUT the superuser app was there.
Now on 4.3 I've rooted/unrooted via Kingo, during the unroot it removes superuser but the custom won't go away. I installed Triangle Away while rooted and it still shows 0 on the flash counter. Is there something in this Knox security (not sure how to check this) causing the custom?
Just want to get it back to any stock AT&T firmware so I can sell it. TIA for any help
there are only certain roms you can flash while being on mf3. If you did the mk2 update there is no recovery out yet. Using vroot and kingo are unsafe methods of rooting so puts your device at risk.

Install the Xposed framework from xda. Then, install the Wanam module and look for the Setting under "Security Hacks" that reads "Fake system status" and check the box and reboot.
The issue won't truly be resolved until you flash an official ROM, but the Custom screen will be gone at boot.

unroot via kingo, then factory rest...worked for me on 4.3
Do you plan on a warranty exchange?
I love seeing the custom on boot, it lets me know and other everyday normal people know my phone is slightly modified.

Not sure what I'm going to do with the phone yet, probably sell it but not totally sure. Wondering with it now showing Custom on the boot screen and in the OS will it still receive OTA updates? Hoping the AT&T 4.3 or 4.4 image will be available in the future and that might help.

ROOTED ATT MK2 using Tapatalk
Ok so I got a note 2 the other day and want to root it. It was running android 4.1 rooted with supersu 1.93 but some how the phone updated OTA to 4.3. I have done the CF-auto flash that worked 100% pass, but here's the part that gets hairy now when it comes to knox and root things don't work too well I've tried using supersu to disable knox It says knox has been disabled then goes to say supersu does not have permissions. I've tried many root checking programs and they all stall so I know knox is still running in the background somehow. supersu binaries from 1.93 are still stuck on there and wont update to 3.1.3 due to this knox problem.
I'm really just trying to get DN3 installed in the end to get rid of all this bloatware.
Any help/technique would be greatly appreciated

So my brother has an att galaxy s5 and out of no where, his camera pictures are very blurry and horrible. It seems like the camera has a problem focusing.
He tried restoring the phone, and updating to the newest software, but still the same so we're figuring it's some failure with the sensor? He has an appointment with the att device center on Tuesday so hopefully they replace it.
One problem though.. His phone says "custom" and has an open padlock whenever it boots up. He did have a custom rom on it before, and used safestrap to install it,but now he's back to stock. The padlock wasn't there when he had the custom rom on it, but when he flashed back to stock and updated it, it appeared. He's no longer rooted so I have no idea how to get rid of that for him. Any idea? Knox has not been triggered according to the service menu.
I can no longer reroot as it autoupdated to the latest ATT OTA which is 4.4.2
Thanks in advance!
Hellow World!!! My first post here.
I have a fresh GS5 (unlocked) and the phone is just awesome....but TouchWiz isn't, I would like to:
- root the phone with Towelroot
- keep my KNOX counter to 0
- and all these to tweak a bit TouchWiz ( like remove S Finder, Quick connect from notification bar, change system menu color to black etc. I've seen on The Internet! that I can do this via Wanam Xposed)
- SAFELY unroot (KNOX counter 0x0, phone Status: Official) when Lollipop comes out for GS5 in order to be able to update to it.
I want to keep as far away as I can from all things that imply accesing the bootloader or download mode or what's it called (which I've never done, so yeah, I'm as new as it gets to all these).
SO basicaly my question is, can one just root with Towelroot, and if it is to unroot, simply fake the 'Official' status with Wanam -> unroot from SuperSU -> remove all rooted apps (or do this before unroot, idk) -> reboot phone and have the phone like it was before root (unrooted and Official and alllll working fine witouth any stock rom flashing) ? ? I'm curios if anyone tried this.
