I don't know how many users here are on t-mobile with the Z1s and using the VPNs from your phone, but this is a necessity for me. After finally getting around to it I found out real quick that it didn't work, and recently found a post on their support forum confirming this as well as a workaround for it.
http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/60804
The above is specific to T-Mobile, but not to the Z1s, so I wanted to go ahead and add my experience, which is specific to the Z1s:
For some reason I was unable to edit the APN settings. I called T-Mobile support and they told me they can't help with VPN issues because it is the IT department of my companies problem (that would be me... and yes i know the vpn works). They told me if i wanted to access the APN settings i needed to unlock the phone? But I'm impatient so here is what I did for the Z1s specifically I just created a new APN with the same settings, and basically all you need to do is chang the protocol from IPv6 only to IPv4/IPv6 :good:
And now VPN works!
P.S. If this should be in a more general sub-forum please let me know/feel free to move it. :good:
I use private internet access VPN and their apps works fine for me. Did not need to modify anything. Just entered username/pw and connect. Have not tried the phone using a corporate work VPN though.

The problem seems to be if your endpoint is using IPv4, since the TMO network seems to be on IPv6 (though it may depend on the area). Also, this is using IKEv1 IPSEC VPNs through built-in android VPN settings. I also tried NCP's VPN client (3rd party app).
I think tmo should set their default profile to IPv4/IPv6.
I noticed sometimes I don't have data connection even though at full bars.
After I create a new profile with IPv4/IPv6, I don't have this problem any more.

What is the difference is anyone of them better then the other or what is the deal. I have the pda unlimited plan which setting should i use?
An oft asked question (by me, in fact) ... and after much research, it is not clear (to me) that there is one correct response. General consensus seems to be that if the wap.cingular settings work for you, use them and don't worry about it (but you may want to not use "medianet" settings, since those have proxy settings associated with them, and the proxy settings can cause heartburn trying to use wifi and some sites).
Beyond that, purportedly there are some sites that may only work with the isp.cingular setting instead of the wap.cingular setting, but I have not found them (except, at times, the yahoo mail beta site). After much deliberation on the issue, I just use wap.cingular (with no proxy settings) and it works great, and fast.
For some old discussions on the subject, check out these threads:
-- on the cingular forums
-- on these forums
I had great luck on the mediamax plan using wap.cingular without the proxy. I did however find one exception that forced me to switch to isp.cingular and the higher cost unlimited pda connect plan. outlook web access using the html browser did not work well for me with wap.cingular, with or without the proxy. it would log me out every few minutes and I would have to log in again. it seemed to have something to do with network address translation and switching between two towers. not sure, but it is much better using isp.cingular.
this was the only exception I found.
It's all very cloak and dagger isn't it? Gotta love the phone companies: they'll do anything to not give you what you want.
Here's the deal: wap.cingulargprs.com uses a shared address with NAT; isp.cingulargrps.com assigns a public IP. Neither of these plans support inbound Internet traffic to the client (that is, they don't support push). For that you will need an unlimited PDA data plan, convince someone to add a certain feature code to your plan. and then configure the "internet" apn. The downside with going that route is that your PDA is now subject to all of the security risks that any computer with a public Internet address would be at risk for.
Hey all...so im using a little loop whole to use free tmobile internet via proxy settings...now i got the internet to work, but only IE works! i cant get online with any other program such has AIM, myweather app, or anything else, only IE goes online...anyone have this issue? or how to fix it? its driving me crazy!
could be they are blocking the ports used for such services
i dunno?...Live search is the other only program tht works online too...
i believe that it use port80 like browsers too
It uses port 8080, Using IM+ and setting the AIM port to 110 will allow you to connect, but remember it's only a few ports that are open and other programs might not have a setting to change ports for it to work with the Tzones proxy.
You can't (as yet) use 1 connection setting on the T-Mobile network using the T-Zones proxy workaround. I have been (tediously) using 2 connections.
(for internet)
T-Zones proxy
wap.voicestream.com
216.155.165.50:8080
(for mail)
T-Mobile Data
wap.voicestream.com
**no proxy settings**
I've been searching for a way to set up one connection to use which would automatically bypass and use a second connection if connectivity couldn't be established. No one seems to have an answer for this, but i'd love it if someone could figure it out!
I'm waiting as well...
I aked the same question and still waiting http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340945
This happened after I flashed the latest TMO ROM, prior to that I had one connection for all my internet apps. Now my weather, and email don't need a proxy but PIE and Live search do what has changed?
Hi everybody!
I have a little issue using my work's exchanger server connectivity on HTC Touch Pro.
Issue: To access internet, my provider uses their "walled garden" APN, which allows me to access their services & general web.
This APN, however fails to work with Exchange.
To overcome this, they have given me another APN, which allows me to access Exchange/Push & Internet but not their services.
Now, it is really, REALLY annoying have to change APNs every time I need to access different info (web vs. provider's page) and I have not been able to find anywhere to specifically point Active Sync to use the required APN as it only has option for "Internet", which I assume is the generic active access point
Dialling rules also are useless as I'm using HSDPA with no proxy to access web.
Apologies if this is all too confusing and thank you in advance for your assistance

Thank you!!!
So I have done that and can have 2 multiple APNs running at the same time!
It seems, however, that both connections have to be "ON" at the same time as when all APN are disconnected, it doesn't chose the correct data account but always the one that is higher on the list.
Is there a way to overcome this - is there a way to prioritise which data account I want to be used first?
Thank you again

Hi, I have a HTC Kaiser with BlackBerry Connect and I don't have the issues you describe. BBC creates it's own APN which is not used for anything else. In 'Connections' I have 'My ISP' set to use the Vodafone APN I manually defined. Under normal circumstances BBC keeps its own APN connection active, if I open IE or another app that uses the Internet then the Vodafone APN activates and the apps send their traffic over this connection.
One issue I have is that there is no way to disconnect only one APN connection, when you click 'disconnect' both APN connections are closed, however a few seconds later the BBC one reactivates.
EDIT: Sorry, scratch that... For some reason I though you were using BBC - don't ask me why, obviously my brain was wandering elsewhere. But back to your original problem. I don't use Exchange ActiveSync and I don't know if you can configure ActiveSync to use a specific APN like BBC? You might be able to configure the Exchange Servers URL to be in your Exceptions list so it uses your 'My Work Connection' instead of the 'My ISP' and therefore uses a different APN? I am not sure if it would work, but worth trying?

Guys, I'm very new to android since I got legend yesterday and I couldn't find a way to modify dns settings. Since, with shame, in my country, some websites are restricted due to taxing problems, (etc, youtube ) and I should modify my dns settings. I couldn't find and I'm slightly losing my temper...
There're some solutions on net but i really couldn't understand what they are talking about. I need an explaination as "android for dummies". Any help appreciated.
settings>setup>wireless&network>wifi-settings
push the bottom "menu" and choice "advanced"
here you can setup ip and dns

Hi all!
I've recently purchased my first smartwatch, a Galaxy Watch 5 44mm, while I've been in Turkey. I am native to the UK though so I've thought about changing the firmware to a UK version.
I have everything set up in English, downloaded the modded APKs for Samsung Health Monitor etc, however there's one thing bugging me.
Google pay/wallet doesn't want to work, I've tried changing the CSC code through the phone dialler app but annoyingly it doesn't work. Looks like Samsung have patched that method. I have the app installed and have my cards on there but it disappears every 3 hours or so, then I have to re-enable through the play store. I have my phone connected to a UK Nord VPN server so this helps with getting the app visible at least.
I'm not too interested in the permanent proxy method, since I already use a VPN server and it still disappears with that I can only assume that it's the same if I went the P.P. route.
Just wondering if there's any permanent fixes or workarounds that can get the app to stay? Or even if there's a method to flash the firmware to a UK version that'd be helpful too, but I have plenty of things installed already so installing another firmware is a last resort for me.
If it helps, the software version is: R910XXU1AWD6/SM-R910NZBATUR
Hello Mezdux,
Have you tried Permanent Proxy for WearOS, This creates a connection with a proxy network which allows Google Pay and Samsung Pay, I hope this Helps.
Permanent Proxy uses an old framework left from an old version of Android

Flash the "wear-release.apk" to your watch using adb, and the the other apk to your phone.
Hope this helps,

I already use NordVPN on my phone (which the watch goes through for wifi connection) and I've had it up and running like that. I've made a purchase so it doesn't disappear anymore and works without issues. Permanent Proxy is not the solution for everything when you're already running a constant VPN connection, which permanent proxy does anyway.
That's why I wish people read the post properly first.
If anybody can tell me a difference in practice, perhaps I will consider. However, it seems like a different method of doing the same thing. Google Pay now works without issues.
