[Q] i have a question - Thinkpad Tablet General

i found in internet the original zip file for Lenovo Ideatab A1000F and a recovery image with twrp v2,i didn't flash it yet, but,my question is : can u all out there, the developers, can use any of those files to make custom roms for this device ? i have actually no idea about making custom roms, but if all those files even with the trwp posibility to be installed on this device, might be able for 1 of u to make something more interesting this device too ?
If any, just write me back and i can send all those 2 zip files in case u can use it for that

Porting Clockworkmod recovery from existing image file from another device

Hi,
I don't know if this is the correct section to get this question answered, but I'll try:
I have a new tablet, which is not really known at the moment. I managed to root it and next step would be to port Clockworkmod Recovery to it. Since I only found guides where I always have to repo sync the entire CyanogenMod github (which is 19GB+ as I heard), I searched for an alternative where I could save some traffic
I found a clockworkmod recovery from another tablet and wondered if it was just possible to unpack it, modify the recovery.fstab and repack it again.
Is this possible or do I have to modify more than the recovery.fstab? If yes, could you point me to the right direction?
Regards
dump your stock recovery
unpack the stock recovery and save the vold.fstab somewhere.
upload the stock recovery here
http://builder.clockworkmod.com/
get the output and flash`it
if the key`s are not working, unpack the new cwm, and the old recovery, and put the keys from the old recovery.
if you get some mount points erros, you will have to upload also the saved vold.fstab on the clockwork site when you cook the image.
if this does not offer you a good result, you will need to find a similar device (processor, resolution) that has allready a cwm, and try it
the recovery file is ramdisk/sbin/recovery
Hi,
thanks for showing me a way. Unfortunately builder.clockworkmod.com says it didn't find Android magic. This makes sense, as the image is a uImage with lzma compressed data inside. It seems koush's builder handles only "plain" recoveries...
Bad luck
I guess I'll try your second advice and search for a CWM for a similar device, unpack it, replace the fstab file and repack it again.
Thanks again!
hello I have made the porting on http://jenkins.cyanogenmod.com/job/recovery/lastBuild/console
I end up having a zip archive, how can I make my tablet to read that. I have installed cwm recovery and it is rooted. Let me know how can install it and replace my recovery with this.
BTW I have the original stock firmware of my tablet.
let me know thanks

Can't download/copy a rom on my phone

Hi guys, been a while since I haven't posted but I just got a new note 4 so of course I wanted to root it, custom roms and everything.
It works like a charm but I just can't copy a custom rom on it from my computer. So i tried to download it directly on my phone which seems to work but when I flash it I have an error, the same as when I try to flash it with a rom from my computer.
When I try to copy a rom, the copy doesn't process to the end. It stopped and I don't know why. I tried to copy music, movies and it worked perfectly I could read all the files without problem. It's like if the note 4 know it's a rom and doesn't want it ^^
So could it be a problem from the phone ? The recovery (I'll try to install a new one) ? Or something that I'm not aware of. I tried to look for a thread with my problem but couldn't find any...
This is the error message I get when I try to flash a rom : " Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/Download/NameOfTheRom.zip' "
Edit : I have a note 4 snapdragon SM-N910F
Edit 2 : I installed CWM recovery to try and install the rom I wanted and I have an interresting message : "This package is for device: trltexx, trltedt ; This device is trlte"
Does it mean I can't install any aosp rom because they are not made for my phone ? I didn't even know they were two types of snapdragon note 4. But since my note is a snapdragon every rom on the thread should work ?
Final edit ! Thanks to the error message I got from cwm recovery I finally found out what was the problem... And I flashed the wrong recovery ! So if anyone can't flash a rom just intall the right recovery ^^
The recovery that you can find here : https://dl.twrp.me/trltexx/ Just flash it via odin and you're good to go.

unbricking alcatel idol X plus (6043D)

Hallo friends, its great to find thread for noobs...
I am a bit desperate - can not find answer for my questions. I have alcatel idol x plus, which was bricked - originally not my so don`t know exactly what happenned but sudenly stucked in bootloop. The only think I can do is to get to recovery menu. The cache partition with rom does not exist, the sd card slot is not present. The problem is that only way how to load new rom to device is with adb sideload. The only stock rom I found was one, that is loaded by spl flast tool, which is unzipped one. And the only rom, that should be loaded by adb sideload shoud be zipped.
So my questions are:
1] IF I want to load rom using adb sideload, could i used that one rom which is ready for sp flas tool and load it file by file, or zipped, or I should not use this?
2] is it possible to use sp flash tool to upload new rom to bricked device or tha one which is just in recovery menu?
3] what is the difference betwen .ZIPped rom and that one which is divided to many files and uses scatter loading file?
thanks for advice and response in advance, sorrz for my English...

ZTE Blade A2 Plus Rooting( SuperSU or Magisk),Recovery & Flashing Stock Rom

Hi there, good to see you.
After struggling to find any helpful information about rooting ZTE Blade A2 plus, I finally was able to root>soft brick>hard brick>stock flash>repeat this beautiful device. So thought to share it here so that it becomes helpful for someone in need.

Prerequisite: Winrar Latest version, VCOM and device drivers (MT67xx), General intelligence to download the attachments and to arrange everything in order and you're good to go
Step 1: Install custom recovery (We'll install TWRP)

b} Download Scatter file
c} Download SP Flash tools
d} Only tick recovery and preloader and select the downloaded files and flash it
e} When the process finishes and SP flash tools displays done, remove the phone and press "Vol Up+Power" to boot into recovery. It may ask you to make /system writable if you want swipe as indicated
f} Done enjoy
Note: Take this opportuniy to first of all backup your stock rom using TWRP and save it elsewhere.
Step 2: Rooting (With Magisk Or Super SU)
a} Download Magisk or Super SU flashable zip as per your need

b} Flash the downloaded stock rom with SP flash tools
Note: This stock rom doesn't support VOLTE so i advice you to first take a full backup of your initial rom after installing TWRP, also please share that backup here as well so as i could add it to this thread to make it helpful for someone who has already lost VOLTE inclusing me
Conclusion: I'll be very happy if this information proves useful to you in any manner and also request you to must share your backup for me to get VOLTE back.

Is this an update to the Stock Rom?
hi, can u help me please, iam tryin to update with twrp , i did remove first line from script but i have error.
Found a way to unlock bands on MTK based phones by flashing basebands from phones with the same chipset. Doing this by using SPFLASH and flashing md1 files. Still unable to connect to cell network on my Doogee bl12000. Flashed this phones MD1, was wondering if anybody could provide me with the nvdata and nvram from the ZTE blase a2 plus. Hoping by flashing those files can connect to a U.S. network.
