[Q] Max Sms limit - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
first of all, sorry for my english, i'm not fluent but i'm trying my best.
I bought a GN3 n9005, and tried to transfer data from my old phone (htc one) to it. I used MyBackup Pro and Message Sync, but there was nothing to do. On my htc, i have 8304sms, and no matter what i do, it seems that the GN3 won't let me restore all of them on it.
Is there something i can do?
Please help me

Try Titanium backup
OR
SMS Backup Restore

Thanks guys for your quick answers. I've already used titanium backup pro, sms backup restore, smssync, MessageSync, Backup to Gmail. With MessageSync i output an xml from my htc, get it on my GN3, but while restoring, an error occurs when it exceeds 3000 sms (approximately). (screenshot attached to this post) With the others, in my sms box, i see 21 conversations all empty.

I think SMS backup restore won't erase existing when you restore. So try backup and restore in two pieces.

I did a factory reset so it was totally empty. Then after xml load fail, i erased all empty conversations so it was again clean, no sms, nothing.
I'm wondering if there's something in the sqlite like the "sms_outgoing_check_max_count" variable that i should set to illmited or something like that. Getting crazy with this thing!

Recovery Problem: SMS messages become un-deletable

Hi guys. i'm new here. i have an o2 xda ii mini. had it for more than a year now and i had a xda ii before that.
I (very) stupidly didn't recharge for a while and lost all my data. nevermind the lost data because i backed up most of the things i need, the problem is:
when i recoverd my data sms messages that i had when i backed-up (january 2006) are there and un-deletable. i can't access the files, some are not yet read but are unreadable. it also occupies the 50 slots in the deleted messages so when i delete a new message its permanently deleted right away. How can i get rid of this?
Faced the same! After restoring from sprite backup.
What you can do now is, use spb backup to make a custom or selective backup without messages. Hard-reset and restore!
Hope this helps

[Q] Taking my sms from rom to rom?

Hey there,
is there any possibility to get my short messages from one custom rom to the other?
I love switching roms, and of course i alway make NAND Backups, but everytime I install a new rom, my SMS are gone, and i dont like it
It would be great if there was some kind of file, i need to copy, or restore or whatever to have them secured.
There are several options to do this...
I'm using SMS Backup & Restore: https://market.android.com/details?...mNvbS5yaXRlc2hzYWh1LlNNU0JhY2t1cFJlc3RvcmUiXQ
Another option is to extract your sms from the nandroid with AppExtractor:
https://market.android.com/details?...wxLDEsImNvbS5oYW5keWFuZHkuYXBwZXh0cmFjdG9yIl0
Another vote here for SMS Backup and Restore. It saves them as an XML file so you can copy them off to another device as well if you want. It's also pretty intelligent about restoring stuff from the backup, for example it can avoid restoring messages that are already on the phone, and you can restore individual conversations rather than the whole backup.
Thanks

Awesome guys, thanks for the fast help
and again i see, xda-community is the best
Always best One more u can use is Titanum Backup for almost all posibble backups
I always use Go SMS backup service, it's easy and fast, also you can use XML for backup that could be usable in other places.
I use mysms (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mysms.android.sms) This app stay in sync with cloud... And i can read and send message without my phone - from web!
Ne careful when you switch your sms between an ICS and a non-ICS rom, the data has not the same form.

[Q] Best way to backup everything before flashing?

Hi, What apps do you guys use to backup up your SMS, Contacts, Apps etc before you wipe everything and install a new rom.
Im looking for one that has a restore feature that can easily be used without there being any problems where I'm left with all my data lost
Cheers!

Nandroid backup via CWM or Titanium Backup with rooted device.
Export to xml in titanium backup for sms
Google looks after contracts
Titanium backup for apps
Make a nandroid before you try a new Rom incase you want to go back or forget to backup something

There is also Helium which doesn't require root if you run it plugged into USB on your computer.
Hi guys!
Sorry for the late reply, but thank you for the suggestions!
Titanium backup looks too complicated :L I'm using TWRP atm so a Nandroid backup isn't an option for me I don't think..?
Helium seems to appeal for me, so I will try it out

I would advise you to make at least an EFS backup. You can use the backup function in TWRP for that.
Otherwise, Titanium backup has no real competitor, and is not complicated at all. Try it. You'll thank me later.

Transfer messages from Jellybean to Kitkat

I'm currently running CM10.1.3 (Android 4.2.2) and I'm having problems transferring messages when flashing any 4.4 ROMs. I tried numerous apps like SMS Backup, Titanium, My Backup Pro but none are restoring my SMS messages (not too bothered about MMS). I've tried ROMs with both Hangouts and other message apps and clearing said caches after restoring but still nothing.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm lead to believe that Titanium Backup would backup and restore sms messages. I've never tried tho.

Are you sure about Titanium Backup? I always use it to restore message!
Try XML backup with it.
Open Titanium Backup, go to MENU on the top right corner, then scroll down to Backup data to XML, then choose Message (SMS & MMS).
Then when you want to restore them use the Restore data from XML.
It works flawlessly countless time, at least for me.

Titanium Backup is one of the most useful apps in the play store, my first paid app I actually bought, after using the cracked version for a while. And as a flashaholic, you'd imagine how much I need to use it
So yeah, it's your ultimate backup tool.

One question, since you used it to restore sms's in kitkat. Did you need to set titanium backup as default SMS app?
App which I used "SMS Backup&Restore" needed to be set as default SMS app before restoring.

Nope. Titanium handled the restoring process independently.

How to backup/restore text messages?

I tried SMS Backup+ and it doesn't work. It seems to backup everything, but when I restore, it just shows everyone's name in the text message list and each conversation is completely empty.
So I'm wondering 2 things:
1. Are there any apps that actually work for doing this right now with the Galaxy Note 4?
2. Can I manually extract my text messages? My phone is rooted. Here's the deal -- I'm flashing a new ROM and want to carry over my text message history. I would gladly do this manually if I knew how. I don't know where they're located or if this can be done.

I accidentally DELETED my messages. Unfortunately I wasn't able to back up my SMS prior to the incident. Is there any safe way to retrieve my SMS messages without rooting the phone (android version 5.0.1)?
Will appreciate any help. TIA.
connect your mobile to computer with samsung kies which can help u to backup info in it
I know this thread is too old , but who use kies !!!!! Note 4 dont use it
Use smart switch , there app for phone and for pc for backup or switching devices
Will the Samsung switch work restoring backed up messages (from stock rom) to a custom ROM (not TouchWiz based)?

Same here.
I do 27000 sms backup/restores after each wipe. The only problem - process is slow.
But maybe it's due the number of sms messages.

I will prefer to Android Assistant App, which has the feature of one click backup and restore, very convinient.
For backup the text messages for Android , you can sync your account with Facebook then log in Facebook to the Android phone , you can copy these messages that you need to backup , after you copying is completed , you can withdraw from your phone, then login into your computer with the same Facebook account , then export data on your computer for backup , the text messages backup program is completely ,
For recover messages for Android , you can extract these deleted data form backup on computer ,
Is there an app that can compatible with data recovery and backup for Android ?
I use gosmspro for messages,it has it's own backup feature which can also be used to schedule a backup.
