Don't know if this has been posted before (did a search for battery replacement didn't find any article abt it), just surfing the net trying to find battery for my Tilt and found those information about the Wing, thought to share with all Wing users.

Cheers
thanks for the info its time to get me a new battery
Funny thing is, just a couple weeks ago out of no where and not prompted by me at all, Tmobile sent me a new battery for my Wing. It has a small bend in the corner but it seems usable. I don't see myself using it for quite some time as my battery now is perfect but i guess I have a backup whenever I need it!
i didn't receive a battery maybe mine isn't a dynapack, too lazy to get up and look.
even though this isn't rom related it is very important information. I would like to know what date and how to tell if your pack is a dynapack though.

If you just open your case it says at the top of the battery. So, how do you go about getting a replacement battery? Call Tmobile and complain about my battery overheating?
Here is my battery and I still haven't received a replacement. My phone has never even been left in the heat or anything. It expanded to more than double its original size and broke the back cover to where I had to purchase a new cover. Should I be able to contact them about a new one cuz I've heard of ppl trying that and T-Mobile plays dumb about it.
EDIT: I also only use the supplied charger and usb cable.

That looks awful and it's dangerous to use battery in that state... Call Tmobile tech support and ask I guess...

I called tmobile last night, and said my battery was overheating, and that I saw online there was a recall on the dynapack batteries. After being transferred to about 6 different people, I was finally transferred to HTC's support number. Unfortunately, it was closed, so I plan on calling today and seeing what they say. From what I understand, they know about this issue, so they should just end out a new one. I'll report back after I call.

Good deal man hopefully they actually have customer service unlike t mobile. I dont use that battery anymore once it expanded and broke the back cover and the actual phone where it holds the back cover. So I had to use the warranty and im on my second one now. After taking it out it kept expanding more and more and is now about 3/4 of an inch thick. The cell inside is like a huge bubble!

Well, just got off the phone with tmobile, and they sent me to HTC's support. They checked the serial number and it was outside the warranty so they said they couldn't do anything for me. They suggested to purchase a new battery. I'm at work, so I really didn't have time to get into it with them, and I would think if I spoke with a supervisor and told them they didn't want a lawsuit, they should replace it. Either way, no luck so far, but I might call back later after work.

Yeah I don't get it either....I guess I'm going to have to call and speak with a manager and let em have it. It's just a hassle though.
Dude i've never called T-Mobile without it being a hassle. Of course I never WANTED to stay on the phone for an hour, but I think i've been on the phone AT LEAST 40 minutes the 3-4 times i've had to call them. You would think they get paid to transfer. It's all they do, lol. I read somewhere on here (and other places) that you could get the wing for like $100 with a "Windows Mobile" promotional code. I called and spoke to a customer service rep. about it and she said the code was accepted. It worked. I said what plan I wanted and that I wanted unlimited text/data. She made it happen and I got my phone a few days later. I waited a few days and then called back to make sure I got the deal I said I was going to get. Basically every person I spoke to said they are "sorry" that it happened and whatever else. So instead of me paying between $150-200 to get the phone + activate it, I had to pay like $400-450 regular price. A big difference, especially when you're trying to save for a down payment on a new car. So I had to send it back and cancel the service. And I was forced to pay like a $50-55 bill when I wanted to re-open my account this time around a month or so ago. And I only used the phone for like 2 days at that time too! It was a big hassle.

Dude, that sucks. I used the windows mobile promo and I got the wing for 50 dollars, with a 1 year contract and a free blue-tooth.
Mabey it did not work for you because you called a custormer rep and not the promotion hotline. I forgot the number but the first time I called I got some B**** who was telling me this 90 day crap. Then I kept on calling till I got this cool guy who told me what i needed to do. A few days later my wing arrived! ps i brought the code on ebay for $5.

I havent really seen where they are cheap. When I had verizon with the unlimited (fast)internet it costed less than my t mobile with no internet. Its a family plan w/ 2 lines. I dunno.... as soon as my contract is up I'm a goner, hell by then i'll be deployed anyway so its cool....

Yeah, they are still doing it. I would call immediately. Eventually, they will transfer you to HTC's service. THey have a way of checking the purchase date from the serial number on your phone. BTW, you will have to call from another phone....but I would do it now before it's out of warranty.
My gf's old phone broke, and I found a cheap HD2 on craigslist. I went ahead and bought it from the guy. He seemed ok, maybe a LITTLE shady. When I brought it home and told her how I got it, she became worried that if we put her sim card into it, and it IS stolen, a red flag will show up at T-mobile and she might get into trouble.
Is there any way T-mobile can tell who has the phone if it IS stolen? Also, if she ever has to send it in for a replacement through warranty, will she be screwed? I know I shouldn't have bought it off of Craigslist, but it's too late for that now...
Well, you could always call T-Mobile and ask them if it was reported stolen ....
Don't think they will call the police on you , If you tell them you are going to , but I bet they will want to take your name, just in case ...
Lol this whole thread seems shady as hell.
Sounds like the OP might be trying to fish answers for his own endeavors...
lol, i know. it sounds pretty bad, but i assure you, that's not the case.
they can tell if it's stolen. they can tell if more than one person has the same IMEI number. whoever was using the phone will have that IMEI on their account, and if your gf puts her sim card in it, they will be able to see the IMEI from the phone. that's done on purpose, so that if someone does report a stolen phone, and the IMEI turns up on another account, they can flag it. however if it was not reported stolen, then there isn't much they can do as they don't know whether or not the original owner sold it to you or a shady guy on craigslist sold it to you, so reporting to the authorities would be pointless for them, as it may have been a legal transaction. as for calling them, they're probably not going to give you the info if that IMEI is registered in their system, they may not even tell you if it is. but if it has been reported stolen, and the IMEI shows up under a different account it will probably be flagged, I'm not sure what would happen at that point. More than likely rather than calling the authorities they'll just cut off the service to the phone.
Try a prepaid sim card and see if it was IMEI blocked?
well, we put her sim card in it and nothing has happened so far. i suppose it was legit.
If you got it with box, supplies and cables its very low chance that it stolen. Actual price in my local craiglist is really low, but it doesn't mean that most of all are stollen
tmobile dont care if the phone stolen or not. it doesnt really matter.

If that were possible I would like to think they would have told me when my TouchPro2 got stolen... The fact that they didn't mention anything like that leads me to believe they can't tell just by the sim card.
i buy/sell phones on craigslist almost weekly and put my sim in all of them
when i call t-mobile to change the internet plan they always ask me where i bought the phone. i always say from t-mobile and they never say anything about it. guess they cant really tell
hope this helps

Hi,
I'm not in the US but i always purchase phones from US and UK on ebay.
Always when i buy phones which are doubt to be stolen or reported as stolen i use this site www.checkmend.com.
They are even recommended by ebay. They claim to have a connection to a database that has all the information on Mobile Phones, Laptops, GPS navigators, etc. Which they can track by the serial number.
In your case you will need to provide them with the IMEI number of your phone and they will give a report on the status of the phone and past owners if they are registered. (they send this report by email instantly. they charge you USD 2.99 for this service. i thinks its quite worth than the risk.)
in my experience I've tried this service twice and a HD that i bought from the UK was returned with a report that said "This item has been blocked during its lifetime by one or more UK network(s)." which means it was reported lost or stolen.
and i even tried my HD2 which i'm using currently which i got from US cos i didn't get any box or accessory with it. But the report came out clear and i am in peace of mind.
Hope this helps.

usefull site. does it give any detail? i blocked my last phone thinking i'd lost it, 4 weeks later it turned up in a friends sofa, so i had them un block it and used it for another 18months.
i guess that would give the response you gave above..
Someone mentioned the IEM number that is the way they can tell if its stolen. So when and IF you ever take your phone into the store to have the useless sales people help you solve some problem. That is how they will know if its stolen. If there is a way to tell by electronic signal Tmobile simply doesnt care. I asked when I bought mine and they told me to get insurance. I asked how do you know if I dont just keep the phone and get a new one for 100 bucks. IEM number shows up was their answer.
Your IMEI and sim info are constantly broadcast about the cell network, you don't have to go into a store for this information to be picked up.
http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=analysis&sub=imeinr is one of the most common websites for checking your IMEI number (it's free), but do be careful with posting your IMEI/Serial number online at any site. Some are looking for valid IMEI numbers to use illegally.
Damn those shady Craigslist guys...

I could be mistaken but I believe that if you select the G1 unlimited data plan, then any smart phone you have after that will not need to be updated...I am using the G1 plan with my HD2 and it works fine. So maybe you can avoid lying to them.
It took me over an hour to walk out with the Xoom, but I managed to do it without having to pay an activation fee and I got the Future-Proof Buy Back contract, where they give you 50% back free if you upgrade within a year (it starts prorating after that.)
Here's what I did. First, I started out by asking if I could get a gift receipt for this since it wasn't for me. They of course said, no problem. I acted a bit worried and asked if they were sure, and they said yes. This set me up for later when we got to the activation part. I told them that this was a gift for my boss, that a bunch of us had pooled our money together as a going away present since he was leaving the company. (This was all made up, the tablet is for me.)
When we got to activation, I asked if they could just hold off on that part because I didn't want the account to be under my name, I wanted it to be under my boss'. They suggested a gift card for the amount of the tablet, but I said, who wants to open a gift card as a present? I said that he would be definitely be in today right after work since he's a gadget freak and will want to use it immediately, so it's just a matter of a few hours. That sounded logical to them, so they bypassed that and went on with ringing it up. One down, one to go.
I then mentioned that I had read that the Buy Back program free promotion had been extended to Feb 26 and that it not only applied to smartphones, but tablets as well. But the machine rang it up at the regular price of $69.99. The problem is that their website only specifies the smartphone and not the tablet exception. I then pulled out a copy of the Best Buy press release from the 14th where the president of Best Buy Mobile states that tablets are included, too. The manager had to call the regional manager who ruled that the press release was valid, but it only applied to Best Buy Mobile stores, not the regular ones. The nearest one for me is like 150 miles away. So, he apologized but then said there was nothing he could do.
Just before the guy finished ringing me up, I took another look at the press release. In it, it said that the promotion applies to all 'Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile' stores. I got the manager to come back and read it. He then brought in the overall store manager who showed him that he could pull up the official press release by going to any stock site that lists Best Buy (I think the letters are BBY). He read the same thing and told the first manager to give the Buy Back contract to me for free.
Freaking brilliant! Thanks for the heads up!
I was told 30 for the buy back but there's always eBay

My room mate just bought a Droid X from a girl on craigslist. She seemed nice enough, but mentioned it had ties to her (ex?)boyfriend and she just wanted to get rid of it. Sold it to my roommate for $175. Me and my room mate went straight to the Verizon store to activate it, and they said it was on the lost and stolen list and they couldn't activate it. Been on the phone with Verizon for a while now, seems like they can't do anything. Any ideas? The girl wont answer her phone now.

Nope, not a damn thing you can do. If it's on VZW's black list, that's that. Unless the seller pay's their bill, it's most likely stolen, past due amount on the account or there is an ETF not paid.
You can take it to Cricket and flash it worse case scenario. We don't know if it is indeed stolen or not and if you guys think it is, I would contact the Police and make a report to try to get your money back and press charges.
No phone number, no pictures taken of the phone...man, that's a huge red flag right there for buying a used cell of craigslist. Sorry for your luck.
Make sure to always ask for the MEID number before buying ANY CDMA phone; VZW verifies it for free if it is OK to activate or if it's not clean. This type of thing happens a lot more then you even imagine.
Good luck.

Well, through email we had a name and she gave us a contact phone number, and we had no problem contacting her up until the sale, after that she didnt answer anymore. Shes not a verizon customer, based on the name associated with the email and the phone number she gave. There were pictures of the phone, but they may have just been pictures from the ads.
One thing I wished we had done was met at a verizon store and got it all checked right then and there.
Verizon gave my room mate the phone number and case number (i think) to take it to the fraud department and try to at least get his money back.

Same thing happened to my best friend, he bought a DX from a girl on CL, she wanted $200 for the device, but took $150 after some haggling (from the way he described her and her outfit she was probable a dancer/escort).
When he tried to set the device up on his VZW account, the CSR informed him that it was on the "Lost or Stolen" list and was given an incident #. He contacted the Dallas PD, turned out the girl was a stripper/escort/dopehead and had been jacking her customers for their wallets or cell phones.
He ending up, having to turn the device over to the PD and was out the $150.
After all of this (and at the time this was probably a [email protected] thing I pointed out to him), but you can pick up a pre-owned DX from VZW for $149 and they come with the full warranty.
Sorry to hear about your friends misfortune,
Hatxtrick
Rule of thumb, never buy a cdma phone (VZW or Sprint) without first checking with C.S if the ESN is clean.

So I got my N4 but didn't like it much, decided to go with something else, probably a Note II.
Planning to sell it through craigslist later today instead of returning to get my money back faster to put towards another phone. Not trying to make a profit, selling it for what I paid for it minus a little bit.
MY QUESTION:
How would the person buying from me be handled if they called in and claimed they need to exchange for a defect?
I know Google are shipping a replacement and charging the CC in the Google Wallet for the replacement, until defective one is returned. So how do they verify that this person is actually me and not some stranger.
I probably already made a mistake by using my gmail (associated with my Wallet) for craigslist communication . So essentially the guy I am selling to has my full name (it appears on my emails ) my gmail address associated with my account and the serial # on the phone.
What's stopping them from asking for a replacement and the charge going to my CC?
I am a bit worried because when I called Google when I thought UPS had lost my package after not receiving the phone a week after it shipped. They really did no identity verification. All they asked for was my email address.
Thank you for any help

Well considering if it were charged, it would be through your CC, which I would think has some sort of buyer protection. You can always file a dispute (although it may take some time for it to process) and not be liable.
Also.. I believe the phones can only be shipped to an address listed in google wallet. As long as they don't have your account password, they will not be able to access your googlewallet to change shipping address. Also, I've heard cases where google has been able to transfer the device to another gmail account and complete all RMA transactions through the Craigslist buyer's account.
I guess there will always be an email notification if anything is charged to my Wallet.
If any suspicious activity is reported I can call and report it as soon as I get the email.
I just got all up and worried, after I got a bunch of interested buyers, but several of them after a few back and forth on email, gave me some sob story about how they need me to ship it somewhere and they will pay extra and asked for my paypal ... not sure how that scam works but I'm sure it's a scam.
guh ... you cannot be careful enough these days

Yeah those are definitely scams. Perhaps something with paying you and having you ship it, and then they can retract the payment. Some of those stories are ridiculous and they're offering to pay way more than what you asked for .
About the google wallet thing.. when I made my order, I tried to call and request a change in shipping address. They said, "Due to security issues, we're not able to alter the order after it has been made. If you want to ship to a different address, you will have to request for your order to be canceled and then make a new order with a verified address in google wallet."
Hope that helps!
I just went through the return process. What happens is: the google tech support guy sends you an email with a link to a cart on google wallet so that you can buy it again. So the craigslist guy would have to have access to your gmail... They can probably send that link to his email and he would have to use his own google wallet to pay for it.

Oh that's excellent to hear ... I guess I'm giving Google too little credit after the mess of handling orders and customer support through all of it
Ya, I'm not sure how any of the scams I hear about exactly work ... that's why I was worried and thought about asking before I make any major screw up.
At least I know about the meet locally in public. I'm having the guy meet me at my local bank.
