I was having some MMS problems, and in the midst of my troubleshooting, I clicked on "Uninstall Updates" for my Messaging application. Does anyone know of a way to get these updates back? I tried re-flashing the 2.3.1 update, but I still don't have the option to "Uninstall Updates."
My Messaging app currently says it's version 2.3.1. Can someone please tell me if you have a more up-to-date version, and if you have an option to "Uninstall Updates" for the app? I'm wondering if maybe the "Uninstall Updates" option was there as a result of my troubleshooting and isn't regularly there. Thanks!

Thanks guys. I definitely had the option for the stock app, but it may have been the result of me messing around with some other mms.apk files.

Yes, that is why. It thought your other mms.apk was an update and or had higher version, you uninstalled that "update" and is now back to the original mms.apk that is stored in the /system/app folder in the ROM.
I recently updated to CM7 Nightlies and by default it has got ROM Manager installed as a system file. I want to upgrade it to a newer version but can't as it says 'app not installed' when I have already deleted the previous ROM Manager.apk file. HELP PLZ !
Either use Titanium Backup to remove it, or delete the apk from the zip before flashing.

I already uninstalled it through Titanium backup and shows nowhere but still when I try to install the newer version, it says app not installed
Was "remove market link" selected in TB? And have you tried installing from Google? By that, I mean login to your account on the web and install it from there.

I didn't notice about the 'remove market link'. Where should I look for it in TB? Actually I downloaded .apk and then tried to install it on the phone. I've been doing it for ages but had no problems till now.
You'll find it in Preferences. Also, Menu -> ..., Market options allows you to "Repair Market Links"

Ok I see the following options in Preferences: Normal apps (apk), Protected apps (apk), System apps (apk), Market link... all of these are checked ...there are also options under Freezer settings > Remove Market entry (checked)... under Un-installer settings > Remove Market entry (checked) .... btw, the TB version is 4.2.1
That's all right. Try fixing market links. With rom manager installed.

mate that's the point, I can't install ROM Manager ! ...
Then all I can suggest is clearing dalvik cache and try installing from market. Try online install from your pc, Google should push it straight to your phone.

Verizon released an update for my phone a few days ago. Being that I'm rooted I don't need the update, how can I stop it from popping up? I don't believe there is an option anywhere for it?
If memory serves correct, you'll have to either freeze or remove the stock system update apks (I think there are 2). And if the update has downloaded, just not installed, you'll also have to find the location it saved to and delete it. Then you won't have to worry about ever seeing it again...
You could start by unchecking 'Auto Update' under Settings > General > About Device > Software Update...

You can freeze or remove the apks with Titanium Backup, as for the location of the files, you'll have to do some research, as I'm not sure....

Because it's under Software Update. The option in About Phone (or About device, depending on your language setting) that's above Status and Legal Information.

I have not tried this but see this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69535531&postcount=493
I do the temporary workaround by force stopping the Motorola Update service after every reboot. Go to Settings -> Apps -> "..." -> "Show system" -> select "Motorola Update Services" -> "FORCE STOP"

Before I forced stopped "Motorola Update Services" my G4 kept crashing and having problems ever since it asked me to update. Now it's playing nice again. Thank you.

Is it correct that you need root for that approach? Some of us do not have that with the Amazon version of the device

It is annoying to me as well. If I stop the update service, can I still get Android 7 as the rumor said it's on the way to moto g4?
For the time being, I just set the time to be next 24 hours. So I only need to click that once everyday.
I'm not sure. It may depend how you disable it. The temp method resets on reboot. The "perm" method can supposedly be undone with a similar command also you might be able to manually check by going to setting and checking for update but I'm not sure if someone has tried it. Which method are you talking about?
Does the notification show up on the top of the screen? You could try long pressing it and it might give you the opportunity to disable notifications for the program calling the update.
If it works anything like my LG g2, it will disable notifications for Google Services. The only side effect I had was that I didn't get any notifications from the play store about apps needing updates.

Yes, I used this method and the update notification stopped. But the next time you reboot, you will have to do it again as it was only temporary.
its much easier then you think

Unfortunately it does not . Having to force stop on every restart is not bad though.
Is there a way to stop Google Play Store from updating an app? I broke the market link with Titanium Backup but that didn't work--the app still updated automatically. I'm trying to stay on an earlier build of Substratum because newer builds won't install any overlays. Every time I need to reapply or update the theme I need to uninstall the current version and then install the apk for the older build. I would prefer that the older build just stay installed.

Hi...
In play store app...
Settings>auto-update apps>do not auto-update apps... You can disable auto update till substratum fix the app. There's no way(to my knowledge) to prevent single app update...
Bring up the app in the Play Store, tap the three dots in the upper RH corner (overflow menu), then uncheck the Auto-update option.

Omg. Wondering how I missed that... Never liked apps auto-updates, so I've always disabled the option in setting... Thanks..!

Never knew that option was there. Thanks.
Joe
Substratum just showed up in my list of apps to be updated again. It seems like Google does what it wants regardless of that setting.
Check https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/tip-how-to-apply-substratum-flashing-t3558079 it has OP's solution to the overlay issue. Works on latest substratum version.
Substratum is in my update list but it doesn't look like it will update unless I do it manually, so I guess clicking the auto update box does actually work--just not how I expected.
I might try the solution for newer versions of Substratum. Thanks for posting it. Only downside is every time you flash a new build of your rom you likely need to create the overlay link all over again. For now I'm going to stick with the old build of Substratum and hope they fix the problem in a future release.
