Hi folks,
I'm new to a WinMo device with build in GPS.
But does the Xperia's GPS work as a normal Navigator GPS? or is it just (simple) A-GPS?
I'm confused with this
And if this is a true gps, why can't I use Google Maps or wayfinder without Wifi or 3G connection?
I hope someone can explain this to me :-s
Thanks
X1 works as a normal GPS but he has A-GPS function too
Google maps and wayfinder are Offboard GPS. They have to download maps each time you use them
If you want to use you GPS without wifi/3G connection, you must use an Onboard GPS software like Tomtom Navigator, GarminXT, iGo, ...

Oh that's the reason
Thanks :-D
I thought you can point your location via Google Maps with A-GPS
Like on iPhone 3G ...
Anyway, was planning to install TomTom
Thanks for the explanation
Yes you can point your position via google map but if there is no map to download, it will ask for maps first and tell you it is not working.

the manual have pictures how each connection display as icons
Somehow I can't get my GPS to work on MapKing. Almost made me wonder if X1 only had AGPS.
So I bought the app tether GPS that uses wifi to send my Samsung stratosphere GPS to the nook. It works great when it works. However, I seem to lose Google navagation when I reboot. Near as I can tell, Google maps will only show navigation if it detects a GPS hardware (or software if I trick it with tether GPS), and when I reboot it doesn't see one when it starts so it yanks the navigation app. If I uninstall maps and turn tether GPS on (or use this other app called fakegps) and re dl maps navagation reappears. Its a pain in the ass to do this each time so I'm wondering if there is a workaround that someone came up with. If I could even get fakegps to startup on boot it might do the trick. I'm running cm7 on the nook, wish we had a startup folder like windows does.

I guess you could try another navigation app. I use Sygic with a BT GPS receiver, also read that a lot of ppl use CoPilot with the NC (Puerto Rico maps suck though ). With Sygic if you have an Internet connection it will make searches on google maps databases for pois and directions.
Seems that if you force close Google maps and then turn on tethergps or fakegps then open maps again navigation will reappear. Too bad we can't force navigation to be there all the time.

My Nexus 7 isn't able to detect my location using only wifi (it did before the last Google Maps update). With Google Maps I get the "Your location is temporarily unavailable" message while with Google Now I don't get any cards: the screen eventually flashes and remains empty. I tried uninstalling the updates but as soon as I ran Maps it updated again. Has anyone else experienced this problem? With this not working Google Now is basically useless.
Thanks for any insight.
Hi all,
I use yandex navigator regularly but have sometimes gps lock problems. I also tried it with other Navigation Software I noticed that disabling Google location access under accounts and restarting after that solves the problem. I can't use Google in Turkey for navigation. Sometimes after installing a new app with location access it occurs again but not every time.
Does anyone have an idea or solution?
Thanks. ..
Guys help me I am having some issues with my GPS, for example when using Google Maps or Waze, it says: no GPS not showing approximate :crying:
can someone help me? much appreciate it

Try performing the following suggestions:
Turn on Android's Assisted GPS feature (available on some devices under Settings > Location & Security). Both Use Wireless Networks and Use GPS Satellites should be checked.
Reset the AGPS data in your device using GPS Status & Toolbox or similar app from Google Play store.
Try a stock ROM too, if it works with stock, it's that ROM causing the problem
