[Q] Working Android 4.4 ROMs - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, so I was just wondering if there's any working Cyanogenmod 11 based ROMs that are fully functioning and stable for the most part on the Glacier. I've checked the development thread and none of the 4.4 ROMs are any good and Albinoman doesn't even respond to my messages about him porting CM 11 to the phone. Thanks for any suggestions.

There are a few 4.4s and one CM11 I'm aware of at this point (LegacyCarbon, Evervolv, and keifus.rahn's CM 11), but they are early previews - not stable. If you want fully functioning & stable daily driver you may have to go back to ICS. Otherwise there will be a few bugs. That's just how it is. If you want the bleeding edge, you have to either live with bugs or be part of the development and help the developers fix some of the issues.
Hopefully Albinoman887 does decide to port CM 11 to glacier eventually, his CM10.2 is pretty solid if you haven't tried it. But I would really avoid nagging him, otherwise he may want to just avoid the Glacier community.

I just decided to give up on the Glacier. I decided to order a Galaxy Nexus. More variety of ROMs. But still, its a shame that this phone may reach its death with development from what I'm seeing.

You could help development.
I might try porting cyanogen 11; I was previously trying to port taktiK, but then my glacier was dead. I could put up test builds though, I hate doing it though.

I'd think KitKat will run okay on it. My only problem is the battery life.

I will be getting mytouch 4g and a a decent laptop. I want to learn how to begin developing for android. Would you be able to help with questions I may have N_oTori0us_?

RunningSense Coming soon

I will be attempting to port runnymede to the evo 4g, stay tuned for that.
You pretty much killed it with the r3chargeDs. What kind of direction are you thinking?
You should try out a sense 3.5 ROM. Would be a sick project since king and others stopped support(that I know of)

I wish when I got bored I had the desire to learn. Haha
We need more well developed AOSP ROMs that aren't completely CM7 based.
Whatever ave you try I'll roll with you dude your roms are bomb......Keep up the good work.
A little bit more tweaking on the EVOlvedAndroid rom. Just to make things a little better. But honestly, this Rom is great. Use this as my daily driver. Good battery life. But I say keep updated this particular Rom. It is worth it to download. Imo

Well I actually don't like mysense 3.5 since its almost exactly the same as sense 3.0 with a ugly rosie and mysense capabilities.

Which ROM should i go for?

So firstly , im not a NOOB with Nexus, i know how to root and all that and i came from the Nexus S, Iv always had it in the back of my mind that i was going to install a custom rom on my N4 and i think nows the time
there are just SOOO many , which is great , but a little advice would really be appreciated , iv been checking out Paranoid Android due to its customisations, and some of the themes on these things look amazing , also i really like the look of the PIE features.
Just wondering if you guys no of any advantages to other roms? or even other roms with the PIE function currently?
Also some advice on some Epic themes would be awesome to
Thanks
Try them for yourself. They're all free, it's not like you go with one rom and you can't go back.

Thats true ,
Same thing goes with kernels.
1. Check out the forum thread like what you see in OP?
2. Read the last couple of pages (skim through it) and read user feedback.
3. Youtube some videos of the kernels or roms (mainly roms.. i dont think people make videos of kernels lol)
... Still like what you see? Flash it! Give it a try. Most people will tell you to flash everything, I say no. Just go through the list and go with what impresses you.
if you are noob you should not try. But by saying that I mean read for couple of days in couple of ROM forums , be little familiar and you should try. Follow the steps and you will be good to go.
By reading few forum you will automatically short list.

Rule #1: don't use a toolkit. read what you're supposed to do and do it. its not difficult
but everyone was a noob at one point. just proceed with caution and make sure you read before you do.
Like i said im not a NOOB lol i own the Nexus s ,4 ,7 and 10 and there are all rooted

The pie function only comes into play if you plan on using extended desktop (I personally don't like extended desktop). I don't like paranoid android currently because I feel it is missing a lot of features and is far from complete. I love CM10.1 because it feels like the most complete experience. CM10.1 also includes Trebuchet which is my favorite customizable launcher.
Can we expand on this 'pie' feature plse, I'm running PA Rom and don't know about this feature?!

If you are using one of the latest nightlies, enable expanded desktop (through the power menu after holding the power button), and slide up from the bottom of the screen to see the pie. You can customize it through the settings.
If you don't want to flash PA but still want the pie feature, you can flash other ROMs and use LMT launcher.

That happens when people are crazy and over clocking their Nexus past 1700 GHz. Just don't over clock and you'll be fine.

Hey skinZy,
I've been monitoring this thread, but know next to nothing about i9000 ROMs.
However, I figured I'd finally post to let you know that there are still some Vibrant users out here who get excited about the prospect of new ROMs.
Popped over in i9000 development, but couldn't tell what's hot besides the usual heavyweights.
XenonHD recently went official tho:

I know nothing about it other than what can be read in the thread.

Paranoid Android is coming to the HTC One!!!

Hey guys!
According to https://plus.google.com/107979589566958860409/posts/8P9mVptPMF7 PA is coming to our HTC Ones!
I used this rom on my Nexus 4 and I loved it! As I switched to the One due to the lack of LTE on the N4,
I started missing those cool features such as the custom dpi, the pie and most of all Halo! I know there is
P.A.Cman rom, but Halo is not implemented yet..
You guys should definitivly give it a try when it's released. It's simply amazing!
i think there is already a test build in the tmo general section

Ok....NOW I might unlock my phone
Despise and have no use for Halo personally, but I loved PA on my N4. PIE was the best thing ever, only thing that made my N4 tolerable.
That said I don't see myself wanting to use pie now that I have a phone that has buttons again, though I most certainly will give it a whirl.
I absolutely love paranoid android Roms but I'm not sure if I can let go of sense5 right now... It's so damn good!

Same here. It's difficult to get excited about AOSP when Sense (with Xposed dpi mods) is nowadays so damn good.
Still love this on my Nexus 7 but there is no way I'm losing sense on my HTC one... Is too good
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I do love Sense 5 but tbh, I never use the features that it offers over AOSP and I always find that AOSP has WAY more productive features on the custom ROM side then Sense ever will, obviously its opinionated and as I said Sense 5 is awesome! But I prefer AOSP ROM's just due to simple things like Halo or even just the stock messaging app and stuff.
Aren't there already PA roms for the One?

There are roms that have incorporated parts of pa 3.15 but that's about it. Can't wait for the full fledged version/3.5/HALO

I like Sense 5, but the one thing that stops me from using it is that it doesn't support landscape on the desktop. Super aggrivating. The apps that will allow you to force landscape aren't good at all for Sense either.

Was dead long time ago since HTC stopped upgrading it to ics. However all the devs here are helping to extend the life of this device. But right now seems everyone moves on to new devices, you can either buy a new phone or stay on one of the ics roms using 2.6 kernels. And I don't see any upcoming new roms or new updates to the existing roms in the future. Sorry dude. It's 2014.
