[Q] How to reset firmware in A500

I bought an Acer A500 from a friend a few days ago.
When he gave it to me, i saw that it has a password that he can't remember.
What can I do to reset or update the system?
Please help.

You can do a factory reset. But then, all user data will be erased.
Turn tablet completely off. Turn off hardware screen lock switch. Keep holding Vol+ and press power switch until tab vibrates. Now turn on and off screen lock repeatedly, until there is coming the first erase message on screen. Then tab is doing a factory reset, and after that, you should be able to enter the OS again.

Have you senn the erase messages on the screen? If not, you did something wrong. The timing with the buttons while doing factory reset is important. It can take some tries to succeed.

Just to be clear: i have to put the screen lock switch in red before the process? Than I hold Vol+ and Power, and after the tablet vibrates I turn on and off the switch?

No. Red is on. You have to put it off.

Now I could enter the erase mode, but didn't reinstalled. Must have an update.zip in SD card?

Your tab should be unlocked after factory reset. No need to have an update.zip.

[Q] Soft Keys stopped working after KitKat upgrade

After I upgrade to Kitkat, The middle "home button" soft key is not working. The pull down notifications draw is empty and the settings icon in the top right does not respond, and holding down the power button only shows "Power off" not the full list of menu items for volume/vibrate/silence like normal.
Any ideas on how to FIX this or is a full wipe and restore required?

I had problems similar to this but it was the back button not responding.
It only happened when I used a custom ROM by mahdi(think spelt correctly)
I had to install ROM twice to get buttons working.....I an now using purity ROM and not had any probs since installing.
Are you on stock? backup then Try reinstall ROM or use custom.

I can´t make hard reset on my G2

First, I apologize for my bad English
I screwed up when I had to restore from titanium backup and now I can not get into my phone. I get "com.android.phone stop working" and the only choice is to press ok and then repeat it over and over again.
Probably it would resolve itself with a hard-reset. But it dosent work. I'll have to try serval of times but i cant get into That fashion. Everytime in the press volume down and power button nothing happens. If the note relase them it just start over and over again.
Is there anyway to make a hard-reset anotherway, maybee from a connected PC or something? At this moment my phone is completely unusable.

You have to press volume UP and power button to make a hard-reset.

[Q] Home button not working

Hello there,
I have a Galaxy S4 (I9505) with a home button that doesnt work
but i still can get in download/recovery mode so i guess its not completly broken but when my phone is booted it does nothing at all
i already tried the following things
-switched the screen module
-switched the docking module
-flashed it from 4.4.2 to 4.3
nothing of the above worked so if any of you guys have a solution im pleased to hear

Try to enter recovery/download by pressing only power+volume (don't push home button). If you sucess, it means home button is permanently pushed (broken), so it only will send on signal while first seconds after switch device on (and so while entering in recovery/download mode).

I know Samsung mentions pressing the power button, but I don't believe entering recovery mode is a good test. My home button works perfectly and I can access recovery without pressing the home button.

I had the same problem and found a solution.
I installed SlimKat Rom (perfect battery life) which is on KitKat.
And in the settings, i found an option to do it.
I assigned the menu button as a home key, like this:
1 tap=home
Double tap=app switcher
and long press=the default of the button which is menu.
Hope it helps, it sure did for me.

this actually works so i guess its completly broken? also my screen keeps popping on when its locked but when i unlock it is completly normal except the button not working
any chance that the motherboard is damaged in someway?

Not really sure, sorry, as the mate above wrote, I forgot there are some s4 devices which can enter recovery/download by pressing only pwr and volume (not mine which three buttons are needed), so not sure at all...

Yotaphone 2 EPD screen touch stopped working after enabling phone encryption

hi, i run marshmallow 6 on yotaphone 2, everything was fine, and after enabling phone encryption the EPD screen touch stopped working, i mean i can see, but if i touch anything it wont work on the EPD screen, it does work on color screen tho. I read phone encryption can't be disabled on Marshmallow, even doing a factory reset, any idea on how to fix that?

Got reply with solution from YotaPhone Facebook support, sharing it in case someone has the same problem:
Unfortunately, encryption can not be undone.
In this situation, we recommend that you do a factory reset.
To do this, you need to download the phone in Recovery mode. To do this, turn off the phone. Press volume+ key and power key and hold 20-25 seconds. In the menu that appears , please Choose the "Wipe Data / Factory Reset" item by pressing the volume keys. To confirm your selection please press on the power button. In the menu please click Choose "Yes" and confirm by pressing the power button.
Please note that this procedure all personal data on your smartphone will be deleted.
