After I upgrade to Kitkat, The middle "home button" soft key is not working. The pull down notifications draw is empty and the settings icon in the top right does not respond, and holding down the power button only shows "Power off" not the full list of menu items for volume/vibrate/silence like normal.
Any ideas on how to FIX this or is a full wipe and restore required?
Any help

I had problems similar to this but it was the back button not responding.
It only happened when I used a custom ROM by mahdi(think spelt correctly)
I had to install ROM twice to get buttons working.....I an now using purity ROM and not had any probs since installing.
Are you on stock? backup then Try reinstall ROM or use custom.

Hi, My friend has a droid x, and I tried to install the galaxy S theme on it for him, and it installed fine, but when I turned on the phone it would boot loop, (running stock Froyo) so I told him to wipe data/Cache, and now the phone won't get pass the galaxy s logo, what do I do?
Im also new at this so just making a suggestion. Hold the power button and home button down at the same time. A triangle with exclamation will appear. Press the search menu button. Use the volume buttons to scroll up or down. Could try wipe/factory reset if you have everything backed up or easy to reload.Once scrolled down to that option hit the camera button to perform the operation. I guess u pulled the battery first to see if that would reset? Again Im new at this and have done it myself but try at your own risk if there are no other replys.
Try that. If that doesn't work you may need to sbf your phone.

I recently found my old mytouch and turn it on and I do not remember my old unlock pattern. So I go into recovery which is the stock recovery to do a data/factory wipe and notice that my trackball will scroll to the option but it will not let me select it. I tried everything including pulling the battery and still no luck. Is there a solution to my problem please help!
I have the same problem. Can anyone think of a possible solution?? Please help!
You can't just hold the home button while the phone is booting to get into recovery?

Home + End. But once in recovery, I can scroll through the options but it will not let me select any of the options. The selection function of the trackball works flawlessly when the phone is booted up, but will not work in recovery.

So I have this really odd thing going on with my HD2. I am able to turn the phone on with the power button, but once Android boots, button stops working. I was using CM7 when it started, now I have switched to CM9, but the problem is still there. Any ideas about ways of fixing it?
[QUOTE/] Any ideas about ways of fixing it?[/QUOTE]No, but change your system to AOKP Icecreamtosti Milestone SE and activate the Navbar.
After this you can activate up to 5 softkeys with 10 options, include powerbutton.
And I think, better you change the bootloader to clk, than you can boot directly into the recovery, if you press the housebutton while booting.
AT last install the CWM touch recovery.

Ive used this hundreds of times and never had a problem, but now, I recently rooted and when I boot into recovery, the whole menu shows up but when i lick an option, its send me into a black screen rather then showing sub menus, I can get back to the regular menu by hitting the power button but none of the menus will take me into subs, meaning, I cant get into my install zip folder or anything like that. Anyone had this problem? Thanks for the help and time!
Edit: yes I have bootstrapped and all that and I am on .621. The only difference this time is the program I used to root, which is framaroot 1.6.0 apk that I loaded to my phone.
you are selecting with the camera button?

Like shadow said, try using the camera button. The power button toggles the screen to/from a blacked out state.
You can just push the power button again to un-black the screen.
I had the same problem myself.. when in doubt, experiment. CWM is pretty good about not letting you accidentally wipe your data.

I tried installing this mod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2789666&page=97
But my phone got a bootloop, so i flashed the stock firmware 4.4.2 Gt-i9505 via odin and it worked..sort of.
Now the home button, notification center, the settings icon in the pulldown menu, the button next to it,my lockscreen and long pressing the wifi to the multiwindow button doesn't work. Power menu only contains reboot and power off, used to have airplane mode and volume buttons.
Menu, back, volume keys and power button are working. And home button wakes the screen if its of.
Please help :crying::crying::crying:
PS I don't like to do a full wipe
Also tried replacing framework-res.apk with another one, another bootloop, so reflashed the same rom again.
Do a full wipe
There is nothing like I dont want to
