I'm not sure if this is the right forum to put this question in so please forgive me and move it where it belongs and I would greatly appreciate it.
I can't find an NFC option in tasker and I'm thinking because maybe since NFC is relatively new, then it might be awhile before we see it in there. Or maybe I'm just blind and overlooking the thing.
What I want tasker to do is turn on NFC when a program named Isis wallet is opened and turn it back off when it is closed. Since this is the only thing I use NFC for, I don't want to drain battery.
If anyone can help me I would appreciate it, but thanks either way.

Great idea, after seeing this I wanted to get it setup for myself. You're right, I didn't see a setting within Tasker to control the NFC state, however using the Secure Settings plug in, available in the Play Store I was able to get this working. You will also need to enable System+ within secure settings. Here are some screens of my setup...Tasker allows a lot of different implementations for the same actions so YMMV

Task- NFC On
Select Plug - in
Select Configuration
Scroll down to NFC and select, then select the 'NFC on' radial button and save... save Task
New Task- NFC Off, same process for NFC On, just select the 'NFC off' radial button this time and save Task
Set up new Profile for ISIS that will use the NFC on and NFC off tasks... Assuming that your already familiar with Tasker some quick screens should be enough.
I will probably add new Applications to this profile, or change the setup completely should I need to. But this should definitely work for your description.

Great thread! One minor note on this. Your device must be rooted to set this up since you need to enable system+ within secure settings app

Hello everyone, this is my first post on xda forums. I hope someone out there might be able to help me out.
I accidentally found out that on my galaxy s4 I9500 lock screen, I can still press and hold power button and it gives me options to power off/restart my phone. I have pattern lock enabled. I tried and successfully powered off the phone straight from my lock screen, not to mention that it scared me out. What if it gets stolen? Anybody can turn if off and I wont be able to track it down or enable any thing via SMS commands etc.
What's the purpose of lock screen if the phone can be turned off, if not unlocked, and I couldn't do anything about it.
I recently updated android 4.4 and I am not sure whether or not this issue persisted before that. I am attaching a screenshot of it. Looking forward for someone to sort this out for me. Thanks.

Did you just find out after reading this post or were you aware of it before?
And have you not thought that even if it is as you describe what is the benefit
not so great
If someone steals your phone much easier to remove the battery and that is even faster than pressing buttons
this is just my personal opinion

Yes, you're absolutely right, but then again it raises a big question mark on all the tracking and anti-theft apps as well as Google's own android device manager feature a bunch of crappy apps which do no good at all except for playing sirens via laptop on your own phone and thinking it actually works.
Plus if the thief is within the room, he wont go through all the trouble of removing the protective case, back cover and then removing battery itself. He'd simply turn it off and wait.
It has been like this since I can remember, way before 4.4. In GS3 and GS4, probably in SGII too, this I don't remember.

I am unsure if this is the correct forum or not but i need some assistance with Tasker. I can get it to turn on music with a text but I can't seem to get it to do other things, like read my texts aloud or adjust brightness/volume at specific times. I have followed several tuts i found on YouTube with no luck. I'm sure i have something that overrides tasker but i don't know where to look. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
you are right this is not the right forum. there is a forum called tasker for noob/beginner that will answer simple question like these. however tasker might behave a lil different on the galaxy s5 (you do have a s5 right?). so I'm willing to help you out here. please explain all your tasker problems in details
ok, thank you
I am wanting to have my phone (S5) read text messages to me when I am in my vehicle. I found this tutorial on youtube: http://youtu.be/GMuvSY7Car0
I followed the directions to have it read the text to me, here are some screen shots.

I have also looked at that thread you referenced and my knowledge of Tasker is so limited I'm sure it will take me forever to filter through it. (which I plan on doing soon, but I want to get this task set up so soon.
Anything you need to know specifically? I am using the samsung messaging app, no 3rd party app. And I'm not rooted. Just updated to 4.4.2 the other day.
Thank you for giving me a hand.

ok going to help you now, but I want you to change the post title to tasker for s5 if that's ok, I think It will be useful for others that way
but this is what you will do for me now.. when you open tasker press the menu button (on the s5 that's long pressing the recent key button or touch the 3 dot at the top right hand corner) when you do that select enable. this will enable tasker as you have it disable now. I notice that the tasker icon is full gray which mean its disable, when its enable the lighten in the tasker icon will be orange....do that and make me know if it work
For some bizarre reason they have decided to omit Notification Settings in the Settings Menu. If you have an Android Wear watch and you want to change Notification Priorities for certain apps, this is a must, as well as many of the other Notification Settings.
Anyway the short term fix is to install an app called QuickShortcutMaker from the Play Store, then open it, search for com.android.settings.Settings$NotificationSettingsActivity and create a Shortcut for it.
There are others shortcuts that may be useful, another post has mentioned it to get rid of the 2nd sim icon. If I find any others, I'll let you know, and if anyone else finds other useful ones, please post.

Is that any solution to change Notification fonts and colour as I it's unusable to read Gmail Notification ?
Nope, only way to improve that is to play around with the Themes - try changing them using the app that is included called Themes.

I use honor 7 and the problem appeared notifications do not work, but I know half the solution, when you click on the box in the bottom of the screen Close all programs from the bottom up, do not close every program alone
many other things you can get with "QuickShortcutMaker" at your Honor 7 you will find here:

This is very confusing for typical android users, as this phone tries to save battery by closing all apps, which is a good thing for battery, but not for notifications, so it is very important for the apps that you want to receive notifications, you must protect them - go to Settings, Protected Apps, and turn on the ones you want to protect and stay alive.

I've noticed during the time I've had my Nexus Player that random things have been connected to its Bluetooth, like my neighbor's phone (by accident). I've checked the discoverable items in my area, and the Nexus Player always shows up. I want to make it not discoverable, in case someone with malicious intent connects to it through Bluetooth and installs malware or something, but I can't find any option on the device or any answers anywhere on Google or anywhere else on the internet.
Any help would be appreciated!
I've been searching for an answer for this for a good while now. Not only can someone steal valuable info, they have access to your internet. I really am annoyed by this. If you find anything, please let me know.

I was looking into the same thing a few months ago (don't know how I just saw this thread). The only thing you can do on a stock rom without root is to turn the bluetooth and/or wifi off. The apis that usually would stop discover mode ..... well they don't work.

I have a pair of bluetooth headphones that won't let me play audio from my phone because the Nexus Player always takes priority. Always being discoverable is super annoying. I wish there was a way to turn that off.
..
I would try it on Nexus
..
Works on Nexus Player
Could you please upload it somewhere else, I'm trying to download on my phone but it won't let me unless I install the mega app, thank you, I've been looking for this for a while, I have a sneaky neighbor that has been connecting to my nexus players for a while, I keep deleting the pairing but it appears again and again...

Here's a copy/paste from my post on the nvidia forums.
I got tired of trying to find a way to turn off bluetooth, so I made my own app.
It's nothing fancy. I did not add leanback launcher intent, so it needs to be launched from settings or a 3rd party launcher like sideload launcher. Click the app once, it will turn off bluetooth. Click the app again, it will turn on bluetooth. There is no GUI or menu or anything. It's a very basic app, but it works...
I tested it on my own shield without issues. I take no responsibility if you run in to issues with the app though. Use at your own risk.
If you find the app useful, let me know. I'll create my own thread for it. I may even add more features if I'm not lazy, and if there's a demand for it...

Thanks for this. I found this through a quick search on Google. Have you made a thread or any updates on this?
..
First thing I noticed on my T-Mobile Stock Note 4 Running 6.0.1 was that the "Flashlight" and "MobileHotspot" Quick Settings Tiles were removed. Now I've already gone through other threads and found an app that allowed me to restore them.
Their respective names are TorchLight and WiFiHotspot.
Now I'm not sure what to exactly call these besides sysui_qs_tiles, but I've found several other tiles that work on my Note 4. Namely SmartScroll, AirView, and AirGesture.
Is there a list out there that has all possible Quick Setting Tiles for android 6.0? I was surprised to find that Smart Scroll was still available in android 6.0 on the Note 4, it does not even show up within my settings and yet this Quick Setting Tile lets me activate it. I'm curious as to what other tiles are hidden but compatible with the Note 4.
Here is my current Quick Setting Item's:
Code:
Wifi;MobileData;SilentMode;AutoRotate;TorchLight;Bluetooth;Location;PowerSaving;PersonalMode;WiFiHotspot;WifiCalling;NetworkBooster;UltraPowerSaving;MultiWindow;AirplaneMode;AllShareCast;Nfc;SideKey;Sync;SmartStay;DormantMode;CarMode;TouchSensitivity;AirView;AirGesture;SmartScroll;

Great post
It is a lot harder than I thought it would be to get a list like this. I asked 2 people to click the google play link, install Settings Database editor in an instant, click open, select secure table menu top right and scroll to sysui and copy the long list of words. Ended up spending more time than it would take trying to get something so easy... and with no way of having them screw anything up.... ADB will never exist in their reality. I should know bettter. Anyway I am in the middle of discussions between samsung and VMC as to why I receive a notification that my phone supports wifi calling, how I signed up for it via a shortcut app and am fully registered, how is it possible to simply choose to not allow thousands of your customers this feature simply because we won't waste money on a new phone? Nothing to do with monthlly package.... yeah this is happening to a lot of people....
so here are mine. The last 2 I tried to add hoping to make a toggle. no go. I am scheduled for a call tomorrow from a non virgin employee. Probably they can enable it as an individual entry and the call center doesn't have the feature to enable the feature no A5 user is worthy of. Not until thousands more start calling.
Is it possible that Samsung is fed up with carriers dictating how their device operates, spread millions of A5's and lit a fire? I mean, technically every single A5 owner in Canada gets a big pop up saying they have this feature and the carrier must either allow it, or admit they cripple your device as punishment for not getting one you don't even need. I put my tiles in and the screenshot that could change a lot very soon as more people figure out what's going on here. It is one thing for a device to become obsolete, but when it is flat out stolen, Samsung sure did let us know who it was without saying it at all. They all suck anyway.
xda has already saved 2 of my friends hundreds of dollars and myself.... same with current phone usage. No carrier or manufacturer can do that. It's like hating your wife.
My tiles: (pics in panel and other 2 from wifi a5 fiasco)
Wifi,MobileData,Location,Flashlight,Bluetooth,RotationLock,SoundMode,custom(com.samsung.android.smartmirroring/.tile.SmartMirroringTile),custom(com.android.settings/com.samsung.android.settings.qstile.SecAccountTiles),custom(com.samsung.android.app.aodservice/.settings.AODTileService),custom(com.google.android.gms/.nearby.discovery.ui.DiscoveryTileService),custom(com.pranavpandey.rotation/.service.RotationTileService),custom(com.android.nfc/com.samsung.android.nfc.quicktile.NfcTile),custom(projekt.substratum/.services.tiles.SubstratumTile),custom(com.samsung.android.oneconnect/.external.DeviceVisibilityTile),custom(com.android.settings/com.samsung.android.settings.qstile.PowerSavingTile),BlueLightFilter,AirplaneMode,Hotspot,Dnd,WorkMode,WifiHotspot,WifiCalling,NetworkBooster
Interesting but using that app it seems the toggles which are added arent permanent. As soon as you untoggle them the whole quick panel collapses, and if you open up the stock editor they are deleted.
