Z1s LED Light on Back (Mods, please move to Q/A) - Xperia Z1 General

Compared to other phones, does this LED light (using for flashlight) perform a lot less than other phones or is it just mine? Compared to my phone in the past, this LED is VERY dim. My S3 had an overwhelming bright light.

I have not really compared mine with any phone, I will compare the Z1 with SGS4 when I get home from work and let you know

Light out put is less than my N4

It's pretty weak i must admit.

Compared to my Note 2 and iPhone 5s, it's very weak.

You don't want it strong like iPhone or the likes it kinda kills the photo and makes it to cool that is why on a dslr the flash is usually taken about 1 second before the shot so it dims a bit before the photo is shot so it adds more warmth rather then making the photo over cool

It's less then a second but ya you get the point
Sent from my C6906 using xda app-developers app

Pretty much in agreement that the light is week. Okay. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just mine.

Yes, it's very weak. With my Galaxy S3 it would perform better than a torch when it was dark outside. With my Xperia Z1 its crap as a torch. I'm not to bummed about it. Hell I hardly ever use Flash anyways.

It's a phone and not a flashlight

I could use my Xperia Play as a torch...

You should note that the Led is dim if you use it as a torch with a widget or program. But in camera mode when it's used as a flash it is pulsed much brighter! Test it for yourself.
@TheCraig: Yep, same here. I guess the Led of my Play could be used to make fire.

Thats why its being compared with other phones here and not with flashlights!

Nexus 4 display and speaker

I usually keep my phones on full brightness. I'll deal with the battery draining because I love how it looks with full brightness. Has anyone noticed the display on the n4 kind of adjusting sometimes. I have noticed sometimes it changes to a little darker or a little brighter while using the phone.
I also noticed when I am talking on the phone with the speaker on sometimes it shuts when opening an application or sometimes even without opening an app and switches to regular ear piece. Sometimes it will stay on speaker but go lower.
Anyone having these issues? Its not a deal breaker or anything I still love it. I know phones will always have their issues, I've had ever nexus and the g1. I just want to know if other people are having this issue.

My guess is glitch hardware. Lg is known for making inconsistent quality. Terrible QA. Just because its made in Korea doesn't means its better than in China.

I don't know how you can use this display on full brightness it's too damn bright! Strains my eyes. lol I tend to keep mine around the 25% mark
It's adaptive contrast, runs independent of your brightness settings and there's not an option to disable it. You probably notice it most when moving from a largely black screen to a white one.
I think I remember first hearing about it's use in a Galaxy S2 review, my TV does the same thing on its dynamic setting.

Previous phone was HTC One. Wife has the S4. I've had nearly all the good ones. Its as good as the One or S4. Its different though. Build quality is great. Feels solid. Camera not great. Too many soft photos.
Best feature is active notifications. Changes the way you could use the phone.
Touchless working for me. After training, of course. I did have one fail on it, with "OK Google Now" in the car. Said it again and it came right up.

I like the One a lot. I didn't like Sense and converted it to Google Play Edition. Was pretty good on that ROM. Honestly, it wasn't what I didn't like about the One but what I like about the X (Active Notifications, Touchless Control, Moto Assist). Those additions are actually useful.
If I had to pick one thing about the One I didn't like, it'd be the power button. All the way on the top left. Had to re-adjust to turn on every time. Obviously very minor issue though.

As you use it more, can you report about real world battery life? I'm debating between X and Maxx. For me, 2 days on the Maxx is overkill and if the X comfortably makes it through 20 hours without looking over its shoulder too hard it's a win in my opinion.

[Q] nexus 4 camera

We all know that N4 has a very bad camera..specially in low light photos..photos have very much dots..They seems good on mobile but when zoomed even a little its pathetic.
Was anyone able to find out what the issue is..? is it software or hardware..?
If its software related than is there any solution..?

Low light noise, no tap to snap picture, horrendous flash photos.
It's just not as good as the Galaxy S2+ I was going to sell.
The camera is the biggest disappointment for me as a one week N4 owner. I'm seriously considering selling the phone.
I tried the Moto X apk, which seemed to be a little better on the noise front, but I can't live with that aspect ratio. "Focal" was even worse than the stock camera.

Yea, I concur. I'm able to take great pictures with this phone. I'm not sure what the issue is. I mean I did come from the Evo 4G to this though, that phone had so many camera issues so I guess anything is better.
After reading around the subject, the only thing I've that gives me any hope is someone suggested using Snap Camera HDR app and fixing the ISO at 100. I'll be giving it a try in the hope of reducing noise in the pictures my N4 makes. Ta-ta, PmT

you dont have to tap the screen. long press the shoot button until its focused, then release. or in 4.3, you can hold down the down volume button then releae when focused.
btw some recent photos..
This phone sold for $200, of you want better camera you're going to have to shell out more money for other phones with better camera.
If you want less noise in low light shoot with iso 100. Or get n HTC One.

The Great Stuck Pixel Test - Have a go if you dare!

Here's your step by step guide..
1- Download a black image to your phone - see attachment
2- Set your brightness to max
3- load the black picture
4- view in a very dark place - Under a duvet in a dark room is best.
5- Start counting!
6- post and click in poll
After a week with my M8 I noticed a couple of stuck pixels last night as I went to take a shot in near darkness. The screen went to full auto brightness and I noticed two stuck pixels. I downloaded an app today to try and fix them but found another! Just tried this on my M7 and found 2, and 2 on my iPad.
The real purpose to this thread is to see how common this is. Maybe most of the phones are affected and therefore probably not worth the bother of having replaced.
How many have you got?!
One but hardly noticeable lol
---------- Post added at 09:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:00 PM ----------
I could have got it replaced but I got it online and really didn't want to wait three days for the new one lol
I have 4. I never noticed them until you started this thread, so I'm going to blame you lol! JK... they're hardly noticeable unless the screen is on full brightness with black backround. All other colors come through as they should.

I caved in an bought another g2 to see if my blurred pictures were a hardware fault or just due to a crappy g2 camera, looks like my new g2 takes pictures of simular quality to my s4
