Ubuntu Touch
Hi, thanks for sharing the files. I installed all files successfully, but the system won't boot up. It returns always into the multiboot. Any ideas to fix it? By the way, all is up to date.
Update: Installed it again, but only Google Logo visible, no boot up

The best thing ever. It is a custom recovery which allows you to install multiple ROMs at once and at boot, you can choose which ROM to boot into. It is essentially dualbooting on android.

Yea that sounds awesome! Will give it a try this weekend.

I've just tested it on my Nexus 7 2013 (with Android 4.4).
Successfully flashed, but when it starts, I've only a black screen...

anyone have a solution

I have tested two different kernels but I think that this is not the problem.
My actual configuration is android kitkat 4.4.2 complete stock , multirom v22 and recovery 2013-12-24. All installed from multirom manager.
When i add the ubuntu touch rom, the install log shows two errors (one for each zip file) regarding /data partition, but the installation says that was successful.
Thanks in advance.

Just to eliminate other factors as your issue.. I successfully got this booted the first or second day it was posted (and it booted almost instantly after install). Since I had deleted it again, downloaded from the same spot and reinstalled. All else being the same (main kernel and rom) i too now am stuck at black screen. Perhaps the download link leads to an automatically updated version which killed support

So, can you please contact who created the files? BTW, Canonical should officially support Nexus 7 2013 very soon.

The problem could be mir?
In the original post there was this line "System file (this one is from*ogra*with*MIR fixes)"
I will look for this fixes and try to connect using adb and change something...

can't install FLASH on 4.1.1 ?

Just bought our 2 nexus 7 tablets today....We want to root them but haven't yet. I was trying to update the FLASH to the latest as one of my websites and one game wanted me to do that. I was taken to the google paly and there was a message that the lastest FLASH can NOT be installed on this device and I read that it is NOT support for OS over Ice Cream 4.0? Can some one tell me what I can do? Do I have to root to do this?
Thanks

No, you don't have to root to install flash. You have to download the apk and install it, that's all.

I did root my nexus 7 and I did install flash by sideloading...but I get a blue box sometimes and other times I get the message that I need to upgrade flash...I used Dolphin HD browser on the nextus and chrome and the same thing happens in both.
Somewhere I read something about renaming two files...don't remember where I read that or what two file. I do know I didn't do it because 1. I wasn't able at the time to find the files 2. it didn't say what to rename them????
Any suggestions on what I have to do...my nexus 7 is now updated to 4.1.2
Thanks
Tried this doesn't work either...

Does not go into recovery

ok first off i am using my first nexus device which is the nexus 7. i have recently unlocked and rooted it so that i can flash paranoidandroid onto it. i used the google nexus 7 toolkit 4.0.0 too. so when i hold down the volume rocker buttons, i get into fast boot mode. after that i select recovery but when i do that, it goes pixelated for a sec and a dead android guy appears with a explanation mark over him. I'm assuming it already has a clockwork mod but if not can someone please help me?
Check your app drawer for cwm. If it's not there download it from the play store, once installed open it up and flash it. Or go back to your toolkit and flash it .

CWM or ROM Manager. It's also unnecessary to hold the volume keys to get the bootloader; hold power until the Google screen (maybe not necessary), at which point you just press volume down.

Sorry I meant download ROM manager. I stand corrected. Thank you. Once it installs try flashing cwm from there. If that doesn't work you might have to go back to stock and start over.
Hope this helps

Does it boot up and function normal? Are you sure you have root?
I think you should start over. Try flashing stock 4.2.1. See what happens.
I am also very new to this. I really messed mine up twice. I had to start over time and time again just to get mine working.
Reading on here a lot of people don't like these toolkits. You have to follow the directions given to you from the toolkit to perfection or they don't work. Trust me, I learned the hard way.
I can't help with adb (I'm still trying to learn)
The toolkit will work. Like I said, try flashing a stock ROM. If the toolkit let's it flash then there is no reason it won't flash cwm.
Read the directions

did you delete the recovery-from-boot.p/ file? you would have to if youre using the stock rom, or the stock recovery will replace the custom recovery every time. use root explorer or a similar root file manager to delete it.
It'd probably be best to flash a recovery image through fastboot. You can find both CWM and TWRP in the dev section.

If anyone needs help with this new update and rooting and 2nd bootloader stuff still, this is how I did it:
Use kindle fire first aide (available here on xda) to reset your device to stock Amazon 7.2.3. Obviously backup whatever you don't want to lose first with your preferred backup method. Make sure to also disable ota updates also before you proceed.
Once you're back to (pre rooted!) Stock, sideload the fireflash.apk (do a search on xda to find the app) use the directions on that thread to get yourself setup with a 2nd bootloader and twrp recovery in like two clicks of an app. If you can't find the thread, just let me know and I'll provide links. Just MAKE SURE you flash the 7.2.3 bootloader
That fireflash comes with before you flash the new boot.img and twrp recovery. It's such an easy method, and you can find all the tools you need via searching xda for fire flash, followed by hashcode's 2nd bootloader thread. 7.3.0 freedom boot (nevermind that your bootloader won't match, it should be 7.2.3 and freedom boot should be 7.3.0, and twrp 2.4.4.0. Make sure all your boxes are checked, flash the files AFTER YOU FLASH THE 7.2.3 BOOTLOADER!! And you should be all set. From there you can even flash newer Amazon updates if you like via twrp. feel free to contact me with any questions, and major shout outs to the devs who made these apps and programs available to us.
P.S make sure you read the instructions for fireflash.apk on its page so you're familiar. This way always works for me to get around anything Amazon, but you do of course run risks when altering stock software. I highly recommend buying a fast-boot(factory) cable just to make sure you can always restore stock using KFFA if something goes wrong. I got mine from xda member SkOrPn, and I fully suggest if you don't own one get one first. Better safe than stuck waiting 3 days on a cable to save you!
Sent from my cm10.1 KFHD
see my previous post
Here are all the files.actually steps: KFFA to revert to 7.2.3, sideload fireflash and get it opened. You will see a red warning message that you have the wrong bootloader. Flash the one they offer. Reboot kindle (I do, May not be necessary). Load the other files onto your kindle, freedom boot and twrp. Open fireflash again, and match up boot.img and twrp where they obviously go in fireflash, flash the files, and boot into recovery :good: good luck! Hope this helps anyone in that boat
Whenever I attempt to restore the update to a previous version in KFFAide the command window stays at "daemon started successfully" and does not progress beyond that point. Any advice? This happens for any option I choose in KFFAide.
I actually have not tried updating KFFA since I installed it originally, so I can't say what the problem might be. I suggest posting on the first aide thread with your question, and looking for similar posts with solutions over there. The community on here is wonderful, and I'm sure you can find a fix on there it you try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2096888
I hope you find the answers you seek
Have you tried fire first aide to root that's what I use and it works

my nexus 4 is bricked :(

Hey guys,
I've recently updated to android 4.3
I've installed franco kernel on top of the os and it seems to screw up my phone
the phone restarted and its stuck on the google logo
I've tried to use nexus root toolkit of WUG to install stock + unroot in the soft brick mode
and its still stucked on the google logo
tried factory reset from bootloader and now it tells me I dont have OS hehe
mmm dont know really what to do from here and not sure
I did the above mentioned steps as I should.
I dont have problem to delete everything and to do a factory reset if possible
Also I'd like to have 4.2.2 .. loved it more as I could work with franco kernel
would much appriciate any guidence on to follow up from here
as I am preety lost.
thanks alot mates!
That is soft bricked and there is like a million ways to fix it.
If you want you can sideload a custom rom of your choice or you can just use the Nexus Stock Images which allows you to install 4.2.2 or 4.3.
