Does not go into recovery - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

ok first off i am using my first nexus device which is the nexus 7. i have recently unlocked and rooted it so that i can flash paranoidandroid onto it. i used the google nexus 7 toolkit 4.0.0 too. so when i hold down the volume rocker buttons, i get into fast boot mode. after that i select recovery but when i do that, it goes pixelated for a sec and a dead android guy appears with a explanation mark over him. I'm assuming it already has a clockwork mod but if not can someone please help me?

Check your app drawer for cwm. If it's not there download it from the play store, once installed open it up and flash it. Or go back to your toolkit and flash it .

CWM or ROM Manager. It's also unnecessary to hold the volume keys to get the bootloader; hold power until the Google screen (maybe not necessary), at which point you just press volume down.

well i went into the toolbox and flashed clock work mod and its still doing the same thing. any ideass???

Sorry I meant download ROM manager. I stand corrected. Thank you. Once it installs try flashing cwm from there. If that doesn't work you might have to go back to stock and start over.
Hope this helps

What's the toolbox? Use ROM Manager.

Yeah it still doesn't work

Does it boot up and function normal? Are you sure you have root?
I think you should start over. Try flashing stock 4.2.1. See what happens.
I am also very new to this. I really messed mine up twice. I had to start over time and time again just to get mine working.
Reading on here a lot of people don't like these toolkits. You have to follow the directions given to you from the toolkit to perfection or they don't work. Trust me, I learned the hard way.
I can't help with adb (I'm still trying to learn)
The toolkit will work. Like I said, try flashing a stock ROM. If the toolkit let's it flash then there is no reason it won't flash cwm.
Read the directions

did you delete the recovery-from-boot.p/ file? you would have to if youre using the stock rom, or the stock recovery will replace the custom recovery every time. use root explorer or a similar root file manager to delete it.

It'd probably be best to flash a recovery image through fastboot. You can find both CWM and TWRP in the dev section.

Also I noticed that it always worked if I plugged it into a PC. I don't know weird glitch I guess.

Can't get into clockwork recorvery -__-

I go to ROM Manager, download the latest recovery, go to reboot to recovery, and as the stock recovery flashes the update.zip to get into clockwork, it blanks then the "samsung" boot up screen comes up and it goes into the stock recovery. I downloaded the newest clockwork recovery dozens of times, tried flashing older versions and ROM Manager says there's an error...this started happening when I flashed the newest version onto my phone I believe. Why is this happening???

Did you also flash CWM recovery in Odin? Because you won't be able to access it without doing that. There are instructions on how to do this in the development section.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
Well on rom manager, it gives me the option to flash it straight from my phone. That's how I always got clockwork but now it hasn't been working since the latest update

Use odin to flash CWM found here. Then delete rom manager and forget it exists.

There are plenty of links floating around but many of them appear to be broken. Maybe try doing a Google search? Sorry I can't be more specific/helpful.

CWM
I always lose the "red" CWM. I will use the green as long as I can. It is the only one that boots consistently.
ive gone over it here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=960118 see if any of those tips help you.

Do you have adb fast boot setup? If so, download the official Google stock images and flash them individually in fastboot

You can also download the nexus 7 toolkit here at xda. Its free and its awesome IMO. I soft bricked my nex7 once and fixed it good as new with the tool kit. Just follow the instructions for flashing back to stock. You can even do so without loosing root. Or you can unroot and re lock the boot loader if you like. Heres the link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809195

The problem with using a toolkit is you learn nothing. If something were to happen again and the toolkit can't fix it, your're screwed.
Taking the time to learn fastboot commands will help get you out of pretty much any issue. If you want a longer explanation as to why I prefer people to use fastboot read here.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469909
I tryed both methods and wasnt successful i still can enter fastboot but am not that great with these sort of stuff is their a way for me to directly flash a rom from my pc to the tablet without me actually doing it with the tablet ... or a way for me to put the rom in the tablet because i am stuck and i cant put anything in the tablet

So you have no backup or another file you can flash? If not, install drivers...
This also belongs in QA.

Install correct drivers and flash stock rom with adb. Else use the toolkit.

We can't debug your windows pc... Fast boot drivers can/will install fine. Try another computer and see if the toolkit will get you going.
Edit: all you need to do is read, read the stickies and read tutorials on how to return to stock. The drivers will install without being inside Android

Remove the current n4 drivers with device manager in windows. Then find the proper drivers here on xda in the n4 general section. After that you should be able to use the toolkit to boot to recovery or flash a stock build.

I know why it went into bootloop. To flash other kernals aside frmo Francos...you need to flash stock boot image. Francos kernal has you flash his boot image in order to flash his kernal. I dont know why this is the case on the nexus 4, maybe because he is building blindly without a nexus 4 present with him.
The Gnexus wasnt like this but.....thats why you went into boot loop. I just skimmed his thread and found out your case was due to the above.

Franco uses his own ram disk. Other kernels do not. This is why you need to flash back to stock first.

[Q] Does someone can help me?

I flash a new rom yesterday for my nexus 4. Unfortunately, it was stuck in the custom rom logo.
I want to fix it via recovery mode. Sadly, my volume key was broken:crying:
Does anybody knows how can I boot my nexus 4 without using volume key? (it was stuck in the custom rom logo.)
Is it an other way that is possible to fix my phone?
And don't pick on my english, I know that is poor:angel:
