I have an lg g2 at&t model and I would like to know if it was possible for me to root it and keep stock rom and if I rooted it can I still update it I really hope someone replies thanks!!
I volunteer to reply thanks.
And I think you have to completely unroot to get an official update.
Use voo doo or a root keeper. Temporarily uproot. Take the update. Then root. It's so easy

I'm very new 2 this whole rooting thing. I have a Tmobile G2 and I installed the new factory update. I was wondering if I could still root this phone? Also how do I get the XDA App for my G2? Thx in Advance.
Search for "xda" in the Android Market app and you'll find the XDA app.
Yes, you can still root your phone. Head over to the dev forum and check out the sticky threads there.
Yes,check the forums. There you'll find rooting methods for both post-ota update and pre- ota update. Good luck.

This can be answered with research.

2.3 is rootable but the easiest method is just to flash an already rooted rom (such as pwgb) to your phone.
and yes, please take a minute to familiarize yourslf with the forum rules. Thank you.
Hey guys.. So I have never really successfully rooted a phone yet but I really need to root this Sprint Galaxy S4. I know there was an OTA update a few days ago so I am concerned that the instructions I am looking at might brick my phone. Is there anyone that could please link me to a thread that will help me successfully root this S4.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for helping me guys!! I just went ahead and Chainfire's rooting method. It was actually easier than I thought it would be. Now I have one last question for you. The whole reason I rooted my device was because I want to use my "Unlimited Data' that I get through Sprint to tether to my laptop. Which app do you guys suggest to do this?
Thanks again!! You guys/gals are awesome!!
Check in dev section. Crawjs hotspot hack. The old versions 3.0 of PDA net work great for USB tether

The new phones should already come with MF9. At the least MDL. If they don't do the update at best buy you can do it yourself. It is very easy. And rooting is a sinch..just use Auto root and there is a video tutorial by QBKing77 that is stickiedm follow directions and you can root within 5 mins.

very easy.
Once you have recovery, you can install rom. This is the one I used:

Hello All,
I just purchased a G2 and it's running Android 4.2.2, Build # JDQ39B, Software Version D80010q.
I'd like to root and I just read This Newbie Guide
From reading that I got that I need to go back to Software version 80100d to root is that correct?
Is this the easiest way to do so? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663369
Anything else I should be aware of?
Just hoping someone can help me. I'm going to wait for a response before I jump in and start doing things.
This is LG G2 signing off from XDA app. Until next time!

Can someone give me more info on this? Will IORoot give me root without having to go back to 80100d? I do want to flash ROMS and use a recovery like TWRP.
Did you even go to the IORoot thread and read?
