[Q] 3G on a faster carrier?

I see in these XDA forums that it's possible to make your Evo browse on Verizons 3G towers if you live in an area where you don't have true sprint 3G. I live in a town that has almost no TMO data, Edge at best, but most of the time it isn't working (can't hardly ever send MMS messages or connect to the internet if I'm not at home on my wifi). I was wondering if there was any way that a TMO Mytouch 4g phone could use someone else's 3g towers?
Nope. The only other carrier that would work with the MT4G is AT&T and they use a different 3G/4G frequency. Best you'd get is EDGE if you had an AT&T account.
Please post questions in Q&A section.

Can only get EDGE

Just got the Atrix. Moved my SIM card from HTC Aria which was doing fine on HSPUA and 3G. In the Atrix it will only give me Edge. I am sitting in the same location where I always get a good 3G or HSPUA signal. Have no idea what is wrong or how to correct.
As far as I know ATT needs to do some provisioning on your account to enable 3G(What they call H+/4G bull****).
Most of the time I see the H+ icon, but sometimes the device will disconnect from the network and reconnect. (never happened on my Captivate) and this has not happened during a voice call [yet]. Sometimes I'll see EDGE also.
A sales rep told me yesterday new SIMs would be available, not sure when.
Moved to general as not android development
You don't need a new sim, but your plan does need to be provisioned properly for hspa+. Call care and give them your imei. If you have unlimited you can keep it.
Did you get your data plan changed when you got the phone? When I was upgrading there were a few problems in store and they had to call ATT corporate to get it working.
Rooted/ROM Captivate
Rooted Atrix
att needs to come off the pocketbook and start expanding their coverage, verizon is way ahead in my area

[Q] Sim card with Data in India

I'm traveling to India (specifically Delhi, Udaipur, Jaipur and Agra). I'm planning on getting a local sim to put into my unlocked TMobile G2. My primary usage is going to be data. Does anyone know which mobile operator offers the best data speeds with the G2 in India?
Not that it should matter, I'm running CM6.1.1

CM6!!!! what. Get on that CM7 bro
Sorry don't know much about India's mobile operators.
Okay, okay you convinced me. I upgraded to cm7. I had been having problems with it hanging at the cyanogen screen on bootup but I actually spent the 15 minutes figuring out how to fix the problem and now I've upgraded.
Anybody got a clue on my original question about data carriers in India? Does anyone in india use a Desire Z or G2?
If it is town area or highways, better go with AirTel, They have the good coverage.
If remote, you can try vodafone, or BSNLor MTNL (the have most coverage).
I dunno about other operators coverage, like TATA Docomo or Reliance.
2G data is cheap in India, for airtel ucan get 2GB at Rs.98 (~2$) and 4GB for the same in TATA Docomo.
3G is just introduced in last december, so few data plans an coverage also.
Not all operaors have 3G coverage in all areas,,only BSNL has dat in all circles.
You can check bsnl.co.in for 3G tariffs.
Cool. Thanks for the information!

[Q] N910H on straight talk with ATT sim only getting edge

So I bought my wife what I thought was a good deal and got her the N910H not knowing that it was 3G only. Ok, well, on her verizon branded unlocked note 2 she can get HSPA speeds with her sim, but with the note 4 that's unlocked, she hasn't seen above the edge network, and her signal is garbage. APN settings are what they should be, tried a few different variations, and nothing. Bought a Verizon 4G LTE sim from straight talk for her, before I realized it was 3G only and only assumed it would help. But would it help? Both ATT and Verizon get LTE coverage in the area, or what can I do to fix my signal? Oh yeah, and I can't send or receive pictures...ugh. HELP
*apparently she can now receive pictures, but still can't send them

Try changing the modem, i should help, cheers:fingers-crossed:
I almost purchased the 910H myself but luckily found out it doesn't support LTE before pulling the trigger. If you can still return it, get the 910C model instead. It supports LTE for both AT&T & T-Mobile.
I'm using my 910C on Straight Talk AT&T ATM.
Sent from my SM-G925P using Tapatalk
So, just tried the only 2 other modems I could find for my N910H running KitKat, and signal is no different. Any more ideas?
update
Ok, so playing around with some of the settings in more networks, mobile networks I changed the network mode from gsm only to wcdma/gsm (auto connect) and data speeds are NOW where they should be, which is 3G, and with a full signal got 8MB down speed, so, that's good. Now the question becomes why can i receive pictures and not send them. Actually managed to get a couple to go through, but no clue how or why they went through.

Hi,
I have a Verizon Note 3 N900V phone. I had changed it over to Straight talk AT&T and everything works except for the 4G. Can not find anything on how to get the 4G LTE to work. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately the sm900v will not get 4g lte on AT&T.. you will only get 4g or h+.. doesnt work on At&t bandwidth. .
You can get 4g lte on Tmobile if you can change over..I have tested both tmobile and at&t.
If I helped Hit the Thanks Button Like This?

Hhhmmm...
So, if I'm hearing (well, reading) correctly, I can get 4G and HSPA on my Verizon branded Note 3?
I'm asking because I have GOT to get away from Big V. I can't stand the way they lock their phones. Not really interested yet in a new phone but will buy a full priced one that I can root and switch to AT&T or TMO come Feb '16. In reading this thread, it makes me think that I can get relatively high speed internet access through AT&T (they have awesome coverage in this area as well) that will allow for music streaming and basically, anything short of watching video with my phone (Verizon Note 3, Android 4.4.2) as is, with just a couple changes to the APN settings? Is that right?
Holy cow! This could change everything for me! Any other details I need to know? Any advice, info, what have you, would be appreciated!

I did the swap today and, according to my wife and the people at TMO, I'm getting data/text/etc... but no phone. It can't call or receive...
Any ideas? I'm stuck at ork and can't get to it right now - i'm using hangouts on the work computer and talking with her that way.
She says they say it's a root issue. I call BS on that...
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
I'm an idiot....
She is too...
They are as well...
Phone works great. My wife forgot that they gave me a new number for the time being until the Verizon number was ported, which was why my phone didn't ring on TMO...
Google Voice is installed on my phone and when it detected the number wasn't right, it wouldn't complete the call...
And the folks @ the TMO store said my problem was that I was rooted! I got the hell out of there ASAP & fixed everything myself! Soon as someone says
"Oh, there's the problem! You're ROOTED!" run the other way!
Took care of all that and it's flawless!
Thanks for the great posting - this did all I needed and now I've got TMO and a HUGE data allowance for two phones at half the cost of less than that on Big V....
Bye-bye Verizon....!
