Normal auto brightness behavior? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My g2 is very slow to come to full brightness after unlocking it. Is this normal? With auto brightness turned off it isn't a problem.

It does this even without unlock or root. I use LUX. Stock auto is horrible. Jagged and slow.

Yeah I'm giving lux a try now

Auto-brightness problem...

Hi, i have a problem with auto brihtness of my xoom.
If i set the display to auto brightness, it increases the brightness when there's more light, but it don't decrease the brightness if there is less light, until i lock and unlock the screen.
I've a 3g xoom with the latest 3.2 firmware.
Is there any solution?
Someone can help me?

I haven't heard of that issue, so I don't know of a solution. Are you completely stock, with no modification?
This is stock behaviour. Simply turn the display off and back on if you want it to re-set the brigtness to a lower value on the stock rom.
Thank u very much for your reply! I thinked that was mine faulty...
For now i solved installing Auto lux, that it's completely customizable(u can set a % of brightness for any kind of external "lux") and works very well.
Is there another way to solve it? Now i tried the tiamat kernel, but without any resutl.

Lux Lite and super boost from stock auto brightness

so from the galaxy s4 and now s5 there is a mode that activates in bright sunlight that is a super boost brightness mode, and so far i have only seen it work with the stock auto brightness setting checked
basically while under direct sunlight you will can toggle the auto brightness on/off and see the difference, it takes about 5 seconds for the super boost mode to kick in with auto checked, it goes far beyond 100% slider bar setting
now i love Lux Lite which lets you customize auto brightness settings but it is unable to access the super boost mode, i tested this yesterday for several minutes, has anyone been able to get this to work?

[Q] Brightness does not come back to full

Since I got this phone, I see this happening.
If I touch the screen immediately as the phone becomes dark after 30 secs of no interaction, the brightness increases but not to the full level.
This happens when auto and preset brightness.
Returns to full brightness if I tinker the brightness setting - eg. If I turn auto brightness on then off.
Anyone knows what's going on?
Do you have any xposed modules installed?
Sounds like 2 or more modules/apps are having a punch up

Auto-brightness still too low on 4.5.11

Hello guys, I installed 4.5.11, but auto-brightness is very agressive, many times i find it on the lowest setting. Any way to fix this? I just want it a bit higher.
Seems like Oneplus is having everything that saves battery on, from brightness to Doze. As some notifications didn't show untill i opened the app. Usually whatsapp. Personally, instead of 7h of screen on time, i prefer having "just" 6 and everything working good. Just got this phone, 6-7 hours of SOT on a 3300mah battery is insane!
This is very stupid. I have the same problem. I dont know why OnePlus don't make AutoBrightness ajustable like Samsung in Touchwiz for ex...
same with me, when autobrightness in darker room, display is always set to lowest brightness ever. really annoying.
On my side, I really love the way auto brightness behave on my OP5. Too much light is not good for the eyes.
Exactly, the user should be able to set a default level, then auto brightness goes from there.
For those who have sensitive eyes, you can always use night mode. It just block the blue light that is mostly responsible to keep is awake.
When the auto brightness is too low did you go into Settings / Display and move the Adaptive Brightness slider to your desired brightness? I am now in a very dark room and the slider isn't all the way down to the minimum. I can see my screen fine.

Yeah or i do it from the status bar. Still after a while it returns to a lower level. While i already want it on a low level, it's too agressive. I whish i could raise it by 10-20%.
Yeah, that slider doesn't adjust the adaptive brightness level like it would on a Nexus or Pixel device. It remains as a standard brightness level instead

Well, we could install xposed to fix the brightness. But then i don't know i want to install all of that just for brightness.

Automatic Brightness too low

Automatic brightness enabled on my new OP6T. It constantly goes too dim, where I have to slide it up some to see the screen better.
Unlocking the phone an hour later, in same low light setting, the screen has auto dimmed itself too low again.
Anyone else feel it goes too dim on its own? Or have a solution for me?
A maximum dimness setting would be nice. Not sure if that exists though.
I'm with you 100% it keeps defaulting back to a brightness that's way to low for the environment have to constantly raise it manually. A minimum brightness setting between certain hours would be great.
I wonder if something like that can be done in tasker, keep automatic brightness on, but set the minimum to 25% or so during certain hours.

This exactly!
It's generally really low. The worst is in the dark, it's almost unseeable, unless you manually adjust it.
Phone has great battery life I just crank it 100% outdoors and 75% indoors.
I agree with what others have stated but that's why the battery life is good...I'll drain it to appease my eyeballs.
Does lux work?
+1
hopefully can be fixed with an update...
My phone was like this for the first day or two. After that it's been just fine.
I don't know if it fixed itself, or I've just gotten used to it. I'm thinking the first because it was really dark.
I have observed this on different phones. So I suppose this is an android issue. The brightness goes too low than its supposed to or it will keep adjusting. I've tried lux auto brightness on other phones, it works perfectly. But due to lack of updates I've stopped using it lately. Custom ROMs seem to handles auto brightness very well. I've tried Cyanogen and Resurrection remix on moto x play and Honor 8 pro, auto brightness was never a bother on them. Which was not the case with the OS they came installed with.

I've compared this yo my pixel 3xl and in low light situations its noticeably darker. After a few days I'm already used to it.
The smart adaptive brightness adjusts to your usage over time, once you manually raise it afew times in various situations it will adapt to this. Mine was dim to begin with but after 2 days it's fine.

LUX works after enable it in usage access. Settings>apps&notification>special apps access>usage access.
