Hello. There are many people who are more intelligent than me and I hope they may answer my question. It's only slightly related to N7 and I guess it may be removed. Nevertheless, I'll have a go!
So, the problem is that I purchased a 2012 wifi N7 and I have a free 3g internet available. I want to use an old LG GT540 as a modem, The problem is that wifi tethering drains my battery really fast. Is there a way (an app, a frameowork, a setting) to reduce the wifi strenght? I always carry my N7 around LG and I don't want it to produce a very strong wifi signal.
Thanks in advance for any possible solutions.

I gave off my HTC P3600(Trinity) and purchased a TyTN II in the hope of getting better options, particularly on WiFi. I frequently travel and rely on WiFi hot spots to connect to the internet. I was disappointed because TyTN II could hardly detect a WiFi signal and when it does it always drop off. From my experience, HTC P3600 is even better in handling WiFi. Has anyone had a similar problem and got a solution? Is there a kind of service pack kit to jump start it? Please share and help!!!!!
I haven't detected any problems with Wi-Fi so far. Working great.
Good, steady connection, since "Power Mode" is mostly set to "Best Performance".
Mine also works like a charm.
check your Radio ROM, u might have a dodgy one, as some work better than others.
Wifi works good.
Sometimes the signal drops. But use Wififofum. So the wifi will scann all the time
Having the same poor WiFi problem with Vario III

I'm having exactly the same problem with my T-Mobile Vario III. It seems that if I'm any distance at all from a WiFi router the connection is crap. The phone has been like this for some time now and I am getting sick and tired of not getting a decent WiFi connection anywhere.
The phone is still under warranty so I'm sending it back to the T-Mobile repair centre.
My radio ROM version is 1.27.12.11. I intend to re-flash the phone with the latest HTC official WM6.1 and radio at some stage but I suspect that the poor WiFi problem may be hardware related otherwise loads more people would be complaining about this like they are about the sh*te graphics performance.
Hi all,
First post, hoping someone might be able to assist. I just received my international LG G2 and the wifi range is horrible. I have to be practically in the same room as the router to get a wifi signal. This is not an issue with any of the many other devices that we use around the house to connect including variius other samasung mobile phones and apple mobile phones or various tablets, laptops and game consoles.
Are there any settings I could try or is this most likely a faulty wifi adapter and will have to send back to the seller? I use wifi extensively so if this can not be rectified I can't/won't keep the phone.
Is this a common issue? Has anybody else encountered this?
Thanks
I have been on a Nexus 5 for the last couple years and used it as a WiFi hotspot,, which has been an amazing thing to have. Especially at my office where I use it to give my Surface Pro 3 a connection... A couple of times I would activate my older HTC One m7 and try to do the same, but I never got as strong a connection and therefore when connecting the Surface to the hotspot, I'd get the dreaded "limited WiFi connection" and couldn't use it at all. I figured it was a bad hardware or a different antennae causing it. Switching back to the Nexus 5 always worked perfectly.
I recently got my HTC 10 and put Bad Boyz 1.1 on there (which is awesome so thanks to OMJ and everyone who helped him). The first morning I was able to connect and download a about 100MB file without issue. Since then the Internet is VERY spotty via the hotspot and pretty much unusable. I do see the LTE indicator on the phone bouncing frequently between decent, strong, and no bars....but the phone itself seems great as far as data connection.
Any ideas what might cause this? Or fixes? What would make one modern Sprint phones connection or hotspot ability worse than another? I'm honestly wishing I hadn't upgrades if I can't use my hotspot reliably...
Any ideas?
My wireless keep changing from wifi and mobile data. Is there any reason and how to fix this? My wifi is fast enough, and my location is near the modem. Thanks.
i notice something like this too maybe, while on wifi i keep seeing the 4G/3G sign with arrows showing up and then suddently disappear.
even though i didn't notice any data consumption on cellular data

I have finally received my Axon 7 and tested and compared the WiFi with my old phone which I ported to CM and had to fix WiFi issues for that phone.
I can assure you the Axon 7 is not worse but also not better in WiFi reception than other phones. (At least not as my old phone).
There is how ever one issue like when roaming WiFi cells. It will not seamlessly switch from one cell to the other. This is software related and can easily be fixed by tuneables for the driver.
If ZTE will not fix it... When CM comes it will be fixed for sure! Once I decide to keep the phone i will participate in CM development.
Any way to do this? Looking at some hardware for my car, problem is that I want WiFi based system for least amount of lag while having active data as said hardware won't be a Internet access point.
Other wise I suck it up and buy Bluetooth version or get it hardwired with USB which will suck for when I'm outside the vehicle.
Any thoughts?
This is most likely the wrong place to post, but I am using a V20 (note 7 refugee)
Found a link, amongst others they no good without root.

There are some tweaks under Developer Options to change how the phone prioritized cell/WiFi traffic. Maybe one of them will help.

Ya it's there, except for the little note "for fast network switching". Although aggressive handover might work depending on how it handles high strength vs all data packets lost. But with both on it might work with it keeping cell data enabled.
