[Q] Is this a known battery issue? - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Last night I put my Nexus 10 on charge. I switched if off (it had around 50% battery remaining), plugged it in (via the supplied micro usb cable & adapter), waited for the little noise it makes when you connect it for charging and went to bed. Today I came to use it (it had been left charging for over 9 hours) and the battery was completely dead. Wouldn't even switch until it had been left charging for a minute or so.
Has anyone else heard of an issue like this? If the cable or adapter was faulty I could understand it not charging but I can't understand it losing 50% of it's charge when it's switched off.

Severe charging issue!!

So I started charging my phone earlier and it took forever, and the phone got very hot, but I didn't think more of it and unplugged it. Then it dropped under 15% and I decided to charge it again. It's been in the charger for 30 minutes and it's only gone from 9% to 10%...
Am I the only one with this problem? =S
Edit: It still gets very warm.
Turn it off and on?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I was sort of hoping it went without saying that I had done that.
I've also tried:
Charging it through my PC
Charging it through the wall charger
Both give the same result as listed in the first post. Also tried removing everything (battery, simcard, mem.card) and reinserting it.
Still it gets very warm and charges almost nothing! =S
Are you using a different USB cable or charger than the one provided?
I have tried several different USB > Micro cables and not all of them have worked properly.
My old BB wall charger works fine, as does my old Motorola one (both plug a USB cable into), but wife's iPhone one does not.
I really don't think that's the problem... I finally got it up to 100% with the wall charger, but when I restarted it after having reinserted the MicroSD, it had dropped 13%. In a few seconds, does not make any sense =S
Night time here now though, so gonna see how much it loses in just standby, if it's a lot I'll try reinstalling the update. But this seems to be an isolated issue?
I noticed that charging it with the wall charger is at least 3 times faster.
Also, you're right, the phone can get really hot while charging and at some point it even stops charging when it's too hot , it happens easier when charging using a computer since the charge takes more time, the only thing that helped in my case was to remove the battery cover and blow some air on the battery
The problem sin't that it charges SLOWER, it charges about the same for both, currently. The problem is that it hardly charges at all...
Also, it was at 100%, then dropped to 87% just with me turning it off, reinserting the memory card and turning it on again.
I went to bed at 2am last night, then it had 87% battery. When I woke up at 9am, it was dead.
your battery is faulty
email SE telling them your battery wont charge but that your friends/spare/new battery does charge when in your phone (to rule out the usb fault that some x10's had) and then they should send you one out.

Odd Charging/Discharge behavior

Leaving the Phone in USB Tether mode, it may not charge.
Today my Focus was down to about 20% charge remaining. I hooked it to the computer and it indicated it was charging. I came back a few hours later expecting to see it close to fully charged. It was showing the charge indication, but it was also showing it was almost completely discharged. (The battery icon flips back and forth from the charge icon the the current battery charge icon) I pulled the usb cable and it immediately told me the battery was critically low.
I put the USB cable back in, hooked it to the AC adapter this time and it showed it was again in charge mode.
I opened the diagnostic for the battery, *#2*#, and it showed 4% charge.
I removed the battery and it was not hot. I reinserted the battery and in the past few hours I am showing 67% charge now. I also had left the USB tethering option in there from yesterday, so I set it back to Zune and the phone rebooted for that. The battery is not very warm.
I don't know what to think. It looks like leaving it in USB Tether after i tried that yesterday might have caused it to refuse to take a charge in spite of showing the charge indicator. If anyone else has put theirs in USB Tether and not switched it back to Zune afterwards, I would like to know if it will really charge being left in that USB Tether mode.
Not odd at all. In the past, Samsung WM phones are known to disable charging when in USB modem mode.

[Q] Battery won't charge

Hi! I have a HTC P4350 with a big problem. He don't want to charge the battery. Actually when i plug in the charger he say that it's charging until the green light apears. Let's say that i've plug in the charger at 51%; the phone it's charging until 100% but when i'll disconnect it the battery will decrease again percent by percent and in five minutes or something the level will be again 51%. I have an external charger which it's charging corectly my battery but it's annoying to change the battery to the charger, and when it's full back to the phone over and over again.
So, the battery it's fine, i can connect the phone to the PC and i can sync it so the USB it's fine...
One more thing: the phone was started to do that 2 years ago. I bought that external charger and i used it for 6 months after I've don't use it(the phone) until 2 days ago. So, i've put it in charger and it worked at the first push of the button. I've left it in charger by the night but in the morning i've got an RLOD. So i've use the old external charger and the phone works, only with this problem... he won't charge.
Any ideas? Thanks and sorry for my English

[Q] Critical battery icon showing when powered on.

I left my phone charging overnight via the wall charger. Battery registered at 1% when I started the charge.
When I woke up this morning I had a large low battery icon on the screen and the phone won't turn on. I disconnected the charge, tried charging with another charger but everytime it shows the SAMSUNG logo, then the large low battery icon.
I tried removing the battery, cleaning the charger port terminals, swapped out different USB cords, everything but a hard reset.
No matter what I do the phone will not start up.
Has anyone experienced this before, or possibly no how to resolve it?

Happened to me several times (on both my focuses Rogers and AT&T), and I came to the conclusion it's a bug somewhere in the phone or the battery. I'm not sure exactly where the problem is (software, hardware) but I can tell you how I fixed it.
What happens is, the battery is almost depleted, it actually is 1%. The phone incorrectly reads that thinks it's charged fully and doesn't allow further charging the battery. So, you're not able to charge the battery correctly.
Now, as I previously stated in some other posts, I recommend having a standalone charger (Samsung i9000 ones are compatible are very cheap) as well as a secondary battery. The depleted battery gets charged fine in the standalone charger and when it passes 5% charge, it can be charged fine (again) in the phone.
This doesn't happen often, I believe it happened 5 times in more than 300 charging cycles (2 phones x 150 charges, I have them for over a year) so it's not that common.
I also found that it *may* work if you charge the battery in another phone.
As a general thumb rule, it's important not to leave the battery to completely discharge, and connect the charger/usb when it reaches about 40% (when you can, ofc). Please refer to my post here to see how you can preserve battery life.

Nexus 7 Charging Problems

Few days ago I used my tablet and got low battery warning I decided to plug it to wall socket so I did it. I heard puff sound two times I unplugged it as soon as possible from what i saw that usb cable was not pushed fully into adapter and adapter burned. Same night i plugged it to original asus charger and left it charger over night it charged perfectly other day i used it without any problem untill it decharged so i plugged it again at evening with 8% remaining charging icon appeared. So i woke up next morning and unplugged tablet but I noticed it had same 8% remaining so i thought we had no power at night plugged it again, charging icon appeared but percentage won't rise it decharged. Than i tryied other cables and adapters nothing seems to help. Searched on google and found suggestions to open back cover and unplug battery for 2 mins I did that. Tryied charging from pc it worked !. So i thought I will move to wall charger for faster charging nope it still don't charge but show charging icon. So i used remaining 15% and flashed android 5.0.2 but it still didin't charge. Installed battery charge info it showing 367mA-500mA with wall and pc charging. So I need your help android users. Do I need new usb cable capable of 2.0A charging and adapter or something other? Sorry for bad english
