Severe charging issue!! - XPERIA X10 General

So I started charging my phone earlier and it took forever, and the phone got very hot, but I didn't think more of it and unplugged it. Then it dropped under 15% and I decided to charge it again. It's been in the charger for 30 minutes and it's only gone from 9% to 10%...
Am I the only one with this problem? =S
Edit: It still gets very warm.

Turn it off and on?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

I was sort of hoping it went without saying that I had done that.
I've also tried:
Charging it through my PC
Charging it through the wall charger
Both give the same result as listed in the first post. Also tried removing everything (battery, simcard, mem.card) and reinserting it.
Still it gets very warm and charges almost nothing! =S

Are you using a different USB cable or charger than the one provided?
I have tried several different USB > Micro cables and not all of them have worked properly.
My old BB wall charger works fine, as does my old Motorola one (both plug a USB cable into), but wife's iPhone one does not.

I really don't think that's the problem... I finally got it up to 100% with the wall charger, but when I restarted it after having reinserted the MicroSD, it had dropped 13%. In a few seconds, does not make any sense =S
Night time here now though, so gonna see how much it loses in just standby, if it's a lot I'll try reinstalling the update. But this seems to be an isolated issue?

I noticed that charging it with the wall charger is at least 3 times faster.
Also, you're right, the phone can get really hot while charging and at some point it even stops charging when it's too hot , it happens easier when charging using a computer since the charge takes more time, the only thing that helped in my case was to remove the battery cover and blow some air on the battery

The problem sin't that it charges SLOWER, it charges about the same for both, currently. The problem is that it hardly charges at all...
Also, it was at 100%, then dropped to 87% just with me turning it off, reinserting the memory card and turning it on again.
I went to bed at 2am last night, then it had 87% battery. When I woke up at 9am, it was dead.

your battery is faulty
email SE telling them your battery wont charge but that your friends/spare/new battery does charge when in your phone (to rule out the usb fault that some x10's had) and then they should send you one out.

[Q] Help! Battery won't charge

Need some feedback, any one has had a bad battery yet? I had mine charging up to 85% yesterday and went back to bed thinking that today (sunday) morning will wake up and do some early stuff but I woke up late and had a dead Streak next to me. I left it charging overnight (I know it was only 15%) but you never know when you're going to need that extra juice. I tried turning it on, no luck, took the batt out tried turning on with only the mains plugged in, no go, I had blinking LEDS for a short moment then it turned off and that was it until I decided to jump start the phone (I don't recommend doing this to no one) with a BB Bold Battery (3.7V 1500mAh) all of a sudden I get the battery with exclamation mark, like I had a dead battery, I've only had the device for 2 weeks, also this is a Beta Unit I bought "AS-IS" but the problem was a simple restore and not the battery. now I manage to charge the battery in a raw way, just hot wired into a 4.2v DC. now the big question...
I'm at 40% battery it is draining very little, I would even say it is under normal operation, but i can't tell I don't have a SIM on it ATM. but I checked on "spare parts" to see status of the battery and it all seems ok but the bit that says BATTERY STATUS: discharging
No matter where I plugged the wire it is discharging, the phone is being detected on windows/mac any computer I plug, the phone does detect where the source is coming it says AC when I plug into the charger that came with, if I plug it into the USB of the computer it does says USB but it will never say charging, I even transfered files to the phone to test the wire, seems to me I have a crappy battery but just need more feedback, anyone has had this problem before? on any phone should I call Michael Dell and order another batt?
P.S. I have a BB Javelin had the same problem did jump started the battery and now the mobile is charging no probs and it DOES hold charge.
UPDATE: Ok guys any of you running 2.1 (8105) on your USA Beta (probably regular too) and have this issue about not charging, I went back to 1.6 (4399) issue is gone, I also had the crazy screen couldn't unlock/answer phone, will see if that is gone too, more than likely it is but I'm not 100% sure.
if it wont charge using usb or mains but only by jump starting it, then the streaks charging circuit is most probably f***ed.

HELP > Battery Is Not Charging at all (Via WallCharger / Computer USB)

Damn it..... i dont know what happened
it is still working perfectly yesterday
i did not drop the phone or battery, today the battery is still at 40% and as usual, before i went to sleep, i plug my phone on the USB Cable connected to my computer... but it is not charging.. and here i thought the error comes from my USB Cable , so i plug it into my wall charger ... but it is not charging at all!!!
and i thought, perhaps i have installed something , or some os faulty issue ... so i reset the phone via SETTINGS > About > Reset Phone
and after the reset.. it is still not charging...
argh what should i do... please help... anyone
i purchased this phone from singapore.. and i am indonesian.... the battery is currently at 30% , i am so afraid after it runs out of its juice, it will go away forever (because i cant charge it) T.T
what should i do....
(Is this battery and the one used on Galaxy S is the same? My sister has Galaxy S, should i try using her battery and try to charge it from my phone? .... ARGHHHH the omnia 7 is not even available yet in indonesia) T.T
Anyone help T.T
Get another charger it will charge get a new 1
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
you sure it is the charger?
You are talking about the wallcharger right?
usually it already charging via USB Connected to a computer.. but this time... the computer does not even detect if anything is connected.... (nothing happened when i plug this phone to my pc, usually there is a notification sound playing and my zune will autorun)...
damn it ... why this happened.. yesterday it is just fine (
damn it .. i am sleepy already..
i will go and sleep for now.. and left my phone turned off and plugged in the WallCharger
and hopefuly.... sigh.. it is still charing although no indication whatsoever is showing that
MAN... should i just try bang the damn battery hard onto the table... perhaps some of the chip inside the battery is misplaced by whatever unknown forced?!
damn it.. i never dropped the phone.... ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
this is so frustrating
Relax
Relax man your charger is bad.
I have the same problem but my girlfriend have a Wave and start using his charger and everything works fine.
Buy a new charger
question
can i use any charger from any phone for this Omnia 7?
(the one that has USB Output of course, such as xperia1 charger)
if we can, then it is also not working.... and why suddenly it wont do anything when i plugged it in my Computer USB
the very same computer works perfectly yesterday, and suddenly it is not working..
I suspect either one of these is the problem :
1. the micro USB Connector in the Phone is broken somehow , hence the when we plugged it on, it does nothing
2. the Battery (which if i am not mistaken has a chip inside) is broken, hence explain why it is not charging at all (which a bit does not make any sense, if it is just not charging at least when i plug it on the computer, it should still detect this device...)
I am from indonesia, i can ask my friend who is returning from melbourne to purchase a new battery and new charger hopefuly
Okay to make things simpler.. i have a sister who own a Galaxy S
can i use the galaxy s wallcharger to charge my omnia 7? ah hell,i will try it anyway...
okay according to this
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/cell-phones/SGH-I917ZKAATT
it goes great with galaxy s standard battery...
so i suspect, i can use my sister galaxy s standard battery and try to charge it using my cellphone
and i can also try to use my sister galaxy s wallcharger to charge my battery...
okay lets try ... hopefuly.... it is only the battery.. i can easily purchase a new battery... if it is the USB Connector on the phone... damn, how on this green earth can i charge my battery? OH we can use the kickstand battery charger?
hmm suddenly it is working now :O
thanks God... hopefuly it will never ever happened again T.T
Great it is working again
Any possibility that there is a way that the device forces a full recharge cycle to calibrate the battery?
Honestly i guess so.
I have the same problem...i can t charge my i8700 at all...what did you do to charge again???...i use a universal charger where i put my battery ...this happens for two weeks now..

Try allowing the phone to run out of battery and turns off, then plug it into the charger, i would love to know if this is a failure or be design behavior.
Put the battery in the phone,
Wait untill the phone goes completely off.
Plug the phone to the wall charger.
write back here
i tryed this but the same problem it turns on but only while the charger is pluged in when i pull it out the phone turns off...i try to hard reset nothing..there is no update to work with non retail devices...the phone is from three uk...i m from romania there is no way to return there to an service..(
Having the same problem. Been working flawlessly.Plugged it in a couple of hours ago,but it doesnt appear to be charging.
When I use the USB charger on the PC, it is recognised, and Zune opens up fine and Phone shows up.
Have tried two Mains chargers, the Omnia 7 one and the one that came with my Galaxy S, same problem.
EDIT:
Left it plugged in overnight and it charged fine.Used phone, going down to about half battery.Plugged it in and seems to be charging without a problem!
I've got the same problem as you guys for a couple of days now.
Thanks for your reactions i will try everyone of them untill my omnia 7 charges again

Do you have a bit of battery left?
Windows Phone 7 devices power up when you plug them in. Maybe the OS is not booting and because it is S-AMOLED display we cannot tell if it is on or not.
Try Hard Resetting without booting WP7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Samsung_Omnia_7
Make sure you have a bit of power though, you don't want that to stop in the middle of the proccess
This has happened to me a couple of times. I think it's just a reporting bug, the battery is actually charging. I just have to restart the phone and it magically has charge
battery is charging too long
How long does take to fully charge the battery? For me it's about 4-5 hours with wall charger. Should not it be faster?
Mine is about the same for a full charge and I have also noticed my Omnia 7 not charging properly when I plug it into my MacBook Air however it does seem to charge fine on my Dell laptop for work.
Maybe the Omnia 7 is very sensitive for charging over USB on a laptop and needs a certain voltage for it to charge properly?
What works for me:
1. Original charger
2. iPhone 4 charger
3. iPhone 3GS charger
4. Blackberry Curve charger
Not tried any other micro-usb cables yet but will do at some point in the future.
I had the same problem too. The battery was suspiciously showing high levels for the last three days (went without a charge!). In the morning, the alarm did not go off, and I realised the battery was dead dead! Charged (wall charger) for 1.5 h without any use -- would turn off if I unplugged. Tried with the USB cable too (connecting to computer) and no use.
I read this post, and tried with the wall charger again, and it shows me ~60% battery, and seems to be charging normally!
Will post an update, but really seems like a forced discharge cycle to me too!!
Thanks for this thread, and I am interested in seeing if any more ppl are seeing such issues!
At least once, but sometimes twice a week, my battery keeps discharging while my Omnia 7 is attached to USB. And even the icon shows it should be charging.
The solution I use is taking the battery out for 10-15 seconds, put it back in, switch the device on, and charging works like it should be.
I hope they come up with a solution, because it's quite annoying.

[Q] Critical battery icon showing when powered on.

I left my phone charging overnight via the wall charger. Battery registered at 1% when I started the charge.
When I woke up this morning I had a large low battery icon on the screen and the phone won't turn on. I disconnected the charge, tried charging with another charger but everytime it shows the SAMSUNG logo, then the large low battery icon.
I tried removing the battery, cleaning the charger port terminals, swapped out different USB cords, everything but a hard reset.
No matter what I do the phone will not start up.
Has anyone experienced this before, or possibly no how to resolve it?

Happened to me several times (on both my focuses Rogers and AT&T), and I came to the conclusion it's a bug somewhere in the phone or the battery. I'm not sure exactly where the problem is (software, hardware) but I can tell you how I fixed it.
What happens is, the battery is almost depleted, it actually is 1%. The phone incorrectly reads that thinks it's charged fully and doesn't allow further charging the battery. So, you're not able to charge the battery correctly.
Now, as I previously stated in some other posts, I recommend having a standalone charger (Samsung i9000 ones are compatible are very cheap) as well as a secondary battery. The depleted battery gets charged fine in the standalone charger and when it passes 5% charge, it can be charged fine (again) in the phone.
This doesn't happen often, I believe it happened 5 times in more than 300 charging cycles (2 phones x 150 charges, I have them for over a year) so it's not that common.
I also found that it *may* work if you charge the battery in another phone.
As a general thumb rule, it's important not to leave the battery to completely discharge, and connect the charger/usb when it reaches about 40% (when you can, ofc). Please refer to my post here to see how you can preserve battery life.

S3 neo charges extremely slowly if it does at all

So I let the phone get below 15% the other day and I plugged it into a charger from an older samsung device and continued browsing. Before I knew it the phone was at 0% and it just shut down. While still plugged in, the phone made a few attempts to boot up but at the end I had to get the battery out. After getting the battery in and plugging in the charger again the phone didn't show any signs of life. Like I hard bricked it. After a few desperate attempts the screen flashed and a few minutes later the phone booted up like it normally would (This happened while it was still plugged in). Now it just won't charge as quickly even with the fast charger. The phone normally gets pretty hot while charging, now it just stays cold.
NOTE: I had it charging trough the night with the old charger but it didn't go over 15%.
I am running Ressurection remix 20150714.
I think it's got something to do with the hardware, and if it does, would the warranty fix this?

That's really not normal if your phone don't get hot while charging
Try a different cable (maybe it charging too slow), buy a new charger or charge your phone on PC. Check if an app use much battery/CPU and check if the battery is swollen or try an another battery. Update your ROM version maybe it's a software bug or reflash it. If nothing solve the problem then maybe you need to clear the usb socket of your phone or it's maybe damanged . Be careful if you clear the usb socket!
Sorry for too much maybe's
Good luck :highfive:
I checked the port, it's pretty nasty but I doubt that's the problem. I'll try and clean it up with a toothpick or something.
Checked the CPU usage and apps and it all seems normal.
I'm not home currently, but I'll do a full reset and roll back to cm11 when I get back.
I've used a travel charger from an older device, an Alcatel charger which actually charged my phone and my factory charger. The factory charger works best for now but it still takes like 5 hours to charge. The phone took less than 2 hours before...
Anyway thanks for the help so far, I really appreciate it.
How much mA you get while charging with the original one? Check it via Gsam battery app
Downloaded it, here's what I got.
Gsam is alternative of Bbs, but with better gui. Look at my ss - I can saw mA of discharge and charge the battery. With stock battery Ive got around 750mA
Yesterday for whole night i kept the mobile for charging and it showed 8% charged i thought it charged up and removed the socket before I knew it the phone was at 0% and it just shut down. While still plugged in, the phone made a few attempts to boot up but at the end I had to get the battery out. After getting the battery in and plugging in the charger again the phone didn't show any signs of life. Like I hard bricked it. After a few desperate attempts the screen flashed and a few minutes later the phone showed the sign of charging but it ended up (This happened while it was still plugged in). Now it just won't charge as quickly even with the fast charger and it wont shows any sign of life.
NOTE: I charged for whole night but is charged to only 8%

S8 Charge problem

when I woke up one morning my device gave a moisture warning.device says I need to unplug the charging cable.I waited for six hours to get better.then did not charge with adapter.currently only charging from devices such as televisions or computers.and the battery runs out too fast.if I disconnect the cable during charging it will never charge again.need to reboot to charge.computer doesn't recognize my phone.what should i do please help.
My phone recently had this problem, but it only lasted a couple days. Once I got out of the humidity the warning went away. The only workaround I found was to turn the phone off, plug it in, get the charging warning, then turn it back on and it will charge to 100% on fast charge. Kind of a pain, but it worked for me. I tried all sorts of things like clearing cache, etc but I think it was really sensing moisture. The sensor is way too sensitive.
