Can't turn wifi on - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wasn't able to turn wifi on for a while, after a day it was solved (wthout doing anything other then trying to turn it on, where it stucked the whole day) but only for an hour or something like that. To solve it forever I installed a new Rom with an older Android version (4.3), but the problem remains the same.

Am I the only one who's experiencing the described problem?

Try out a few stable, well-maintained kernel and/or rom (CM,PA,Slim). If you still have the same problem, then it's caused by hardware failure and you can't do much about it.

Wizard Resetting when using Wifi

I have had my wizard for years now, but recently when i have been using wifi the wizard has been resetting randomly, sometimes just before it resets i get a battery low error message, but then when it restarts the battery is not low!
It always seems to happen when i am using wifi not just in normal operation. Has anyone had a similar problem? I was wondering if it may be a problem with the battery.
Also i do flash the phone every now and again but to try and solve this problem i flashed back to an older version of TNT rom (which i had no problem with for over a year). But it still resets.
Any help would be appreciated.
i fixed this it was my battery i have bought a new battery and not had the problem since.

Hardware problem? Screen keeps turning on after I turn it off!

Hi everyone,
For the last few days, I've been having a problem with my HD2.
When I press the power button to lock the screen and turn off the display, one or two seconds later, the phone turns it back on again.
I had just flashed the new NRG Rom, so thought that may have been an issue. I reflashed with a different Rom, and had the same problems. To make sure I wasn't overlooking something, I reflashed the original official rom, and done a hard reset.
The problem was still there last night. Even when the screen dimmed after 30 seconds, a few seconds later it would come back to the original brightness.
I did notice, however, that it doesn't do it when it was plugged in to USB or when charging. I'm trying to drain my battery, in case it's an issue that is only occurring when the battery falls below a certain level - although I don't know why it would do this.
So far today, it's not done it. Although I'm not sure whether that's because my phone was charging all night. I just wondered whether anyone else has had this problem before?
Another thing I've noticed is that I used to have a radio with .50. However, after I flashed one of the first roms, I now seem to have a .51 radio. I was told that the .51 radios can sometimes cause problems. Is it likely that this could be causing the issue?
Thanks for any help you can offer!
I'm having the same problem with stock vodafone Rom. I can solve it by plugging my HD2 in the charger, lock the device with the power button. The screen stays off and it will stay off when i unplug the device.
Unfortunately the issue keeps coming back about once a day.

Always fine to read that you're not the only one with a stange issue
Finally I had to flash back to stock to get rid of it. First went back to my stock radio and than SPL 1.42. Than reflashed the original ROM from HTC.
Problems for me are gone now. I got no clue if it solved the problem on the long run. Till now it proved my suspicion that HSPL in combination with the USB hardware/drivers caused the problem.

ENERGY roms are not compatible with the .51 radios. If you had a .51 radio and flashed energy, the phone would get stuck at the boot screen.

SGS acting weird - screen turning on and off repeatedly

My cousins SGS is having some issues. Last night the battery died, since then the following problem has arisen. The screen turns on for one second then turns off for one second then turns on for one second and so on repeatedly. Even when the phone is locked. No new apps have been installed. We have cleared the RAM. Turned the phone off and removed the battery for a few minutes and re-inserted, but still hasn't solved the problem. Factory reset still hasn't fixed it.
Will flashing to another rom eg Doc, potentially solve the problem? She doesnt really want to send it back to Samsung as it will result in the phone gone for a month or so.
She is running the stock DTJG4 rom (Australian 2.1), no lag fixes, not rooted.
Any ideas?
Bump. Anyone? Could it be a hardware issue?
yikes.. i think its a hardware problem... but just in any case try reflashing with odin to confirm this..

[Q] Custom ROM and Sudden Screen ON?

Has anyone been able to find a fix for the sudden screen on issue when you are running a custom ROM? I have found that after updating to a custom ROM after the firmware push from ACER that the sudden screen on issue has returned. I have searched but with no luck. I was just wondering if there has been any new developments on this issue from the DEV's?
It would be nice to not have my tab die after 12 hours of standby because my screen keeps turning on.
Any help?
I have been monitoring Cat Logs with this issue both with WIFI and without WIFI on so if anyone wants those I can save and send them over.
This happens on my OTA ROM as well. I think it is just an issue with the device, or at least something non rom specific.

MAJOR problem - phone restarting every 10 seconds!

Hi guys,
this is my first time using these forums and I wouldn't have done that if the problem was easily solvable. However, this is a major problem for me and I couldn't find a thread nor a solution to it, so I'll post it here.
I have the i9305 4G version of the S3. I have had it for about a month now, and it worked fine, up until now. The phone suddenly starts to restart itself (not reboot!) for about 10 seconds, then goes back to the dashboard.
The problem seems to be the WiFi. Right after I get the "Connected to ... network" message on the bottom of the screen, the phone vibrates immensely once, then everything freezes for a few seconds, then another 2-3 vibrations, before the Samsung logo comes up with the LED light on. After a few seconds again I'm back in the dashboard until I get the "Connected to ..." message, and so on the process repeats itself.
Turning off WiFi seems to solve the issue, but once I turn it on again the problem reoccurs.
Something else I've noticed is that if I have WiFi turned off and cellular data network (for instance 4G) turned on, the "4G", "H+" etc. logo does not appear, even though I'm connected to cellular data! Don't know if it can be related to my main problem.
I have tried everything I'm aware of. Unplugging the battery, factory reset and back up, hard reset, wipe cache pertition. After the factory reset I can use WiFi again, but only for a few hours until the problem reoccured. I THINK once my battery is fully charged the problem occurs.
Note: I haven't even touched stock ROM, kernel etc. Nothing is flashed. Phone is in the same condition as when it came out of the box. Android version: JB 4.1.1
I would be forever grateful if you could help me out here, I can't have a phone restarting itself and vibrating like crazy every 10-15 seconds.
(Sorry in advance if this was the wrong place for this thread.)

UPDATE:
Seems like my issue isn't just related to Wifi. Cellular data network was actually related to my issue, as I first feared. If Wifi is turned off and cellular data turned on, the same thing happens. Seems like the issue occurs every time I try to use the internet either way.
Anyhow, if I let the phone reboot itself without turning on or off anything at all, it will reboot about 5 times until either Wifi or cellular doesn't work anymore even though the status bar tells me that it is turned on!
This seems to be a serious connectivity issue and for the first time I'm suspecting interference with the phone's wireless network hardware. If none of you are able to provider an answer, I guess I have no choice but to hand it in to get it repaired or replaced.
Still noone who has a solution to my problem?

My solution to your problem would be to just bring it to whoever you bought it from and demand a replacement. That isn't normal behaviour.
you can boot into recovery and do a factory reset and cache wipe
if wiping does not solve your problem, just return your phone.
I don't know if this is related, but, I had this issue once (the cause is not wifi though), and samsung fixed (or replaced) my phone.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I'd wipe the phone and return it. This is not normal behaviour and should fall under warranty... Wiping might fix but this may happen again if there is an inherent problem with your handset....
