Hi there guys, thinking of buying Moto X from States. Question would which carrier Moto X would be best for Europe and how easy is to unlock the sim? Any advice is very appreciated.
Thanks a lot in advance

Depends if you want LTE or not. If you do get the AT&T model which has the most supported bands. You will have to purchase an unlock code, which shouldn't run you into to much money.
Or if you don't mind for LTE you can save the hassle by just buying the T-Mobile version which is SIM unlocked by default.

I've got mine (att, proper unlocked) from eBay, üsd 399 altogether.. Asked seller to state 'used phone' on tracking papers (basically true!) to prevent taxes! Works great!
Is it easy to unlock one locked to AT&T network? Thanks

Why not wait a week and buy the UK one? OK, might cost more but at least it'll work

Buying an EU model certanly has advantages. I assume that it'll come with unlockable bootloader and without boatware. Besides all EU LTE bandwiths will be covered. That surely comes a point in the year or two when the LTE becomes widely spreaded among EU.
If the money is a major factor regarding decision, I'd opt for T-mobile. Less bloatware, unlockable bootloader, HSPDA bands and at least one useful LTE band.
I did go for AT&T as it has most bands and it was only £170 for mint condition on of eBay.

Try the app from Google Play - "Unlock your Moto X", got unlocked from AT&T within like 20 minutes for the 10 euro or so (everybody else asking 15-25)
Just to warn you - do NOT buy Sprint's Moto X attracted by noticeably lower prices since it's a CDMA phone and it will not work in Europe!!

With the recent ICS Atrix 4G leak (or giveaway) I'm wondering about Atrix International version now. We have been far let down than the USA users since we have never received any subsequent GB updates that US users received. Now that Atrix International users are supporting the update campaign, including me, I wanted to run a poll to see how many of current active Atrix users on XDA are Atrix 4G owners and how many own the international version. I already can guess most active users are from USA but somehow I believe Motorola sold more Atrix outside of USA than inside. Thank you.
Update:
As 'ravilov' member rightly mentioned Atrix 4G was ATT exclusive in US. Since ATT phones are usually branded, especially for an exclusive phone, those bought ATT branded phones from outside of US should still vote the first option. Thank you.
Wow did not think that there would be so littel us people (so far)
i bought atrix in US but use it in India
I bought it outside US...but was from ebay, so it is ATT branded. Anyway, i won't choice either on the poll because my Atrix died last week...was so sad that he was not going to recieve ICS anymore. Poor little guy, betrayed by his own parents.
Thank you for your votes so far. ATT branded phone even was purchased outside of USA can be voted as "Inside" of USA. Even if you no longer own the phone, broken or sold, you can still vote. One goal of the poll is to get a rough idea of total numbers of each.
I'm also surprised ATT users are not voting, I guess the leak ROM is keeping them away from this thread
One question though, is ATT radio compatible with the international Atrix's radio?

I honestly have no idea what version mine is considered. Its a Bell Canada branded atrix that i bought in....you guessed it, Canada. But as far as
i know its still considered a US variant. I did get a GB update to 2.3.6 back in Jan or Feb, literally days before I popped my xda cherry and rooted it, lol.

Since your phone is carrier branded and outside of USA I would suggest to vote the "Outside" option. Thank you.

International, parallel imported from Singapore as the Atrix has never been available via the standard retail outfits here.

If it's from the US, it can only ever be AT&T. Atrix was never sold any other way in the US.
International buyed in German Amazon retail.

My friend is thinking of getting the Nexus 4. Unfortunately T-Mobile pretty much is non-existing where he lives and he really wants the Nexus 4 so is looking to get the unlocked Nexus 4 and going to at&t. He wants to know if he'll get at&t's service fully, he is skeptical because it's a phone unlocked like maybe it's not fully compatible with the bands and frequencies on at&t? I have little knowledge on unlocked phones being used on the U.S. carriers so any help will do.

Yes it is compatible to use its hspa+ bands however it will not be able to use LTE, one of the best features at&t has to offer. In other words, download speeds will vary from 1-5mbps instead of say 10-40 Mbps.
Edit: I own an HTC one xl and have att as my provider, lte is a big issue for me and one of the factors I'm currently weighing heavily as I consider buying the nexus 4.

Thank you guys for the responses
I already know it won't have LTE. Maybe that's a good thing since the back is non-removable. Better battery life hopefully.
you will get HSPA+ 21 on ATT since they don't offer 42.
Most of AT&T network is not LTE -- still.
I am planning on picking up a Nexus 4 today and sell my Verizon Galaxy Nexus but i'm not sure about the Carrier , TMobile is were i want to pick it up from . Does it matter what carrier it's on for it to be able to flash Ubuntu and other rooms i see in the nexus thread i don't see a thread for a specific carrier like the Galaxy Nexus .

Well, the only carrier that actually carries the phone I believe is T-Mobile, but you can use it on AT&T or any other GSM carrier, I'd assume.
It doesn't matter which one you're on for flashing ROMs and anything else really since there's only 1 phone. With the Galaxy Nexus you actually had like 4 different phones. GSM/LTE and then even in the LTE versions you had the Verizon phone and the Sprint phone.

Good luck! They have it for free or some kind of discount this weekend, right? :good:
At Tmobile you either lock into a two year contract or pay $150 more than you would buying it from the Play Store.

Hi all,
I was just wondering were you guys able to get LTE signals from the phone you got from P4U? (or from anywhere for that matter)
thanks all =)
Check this out below. Looks like 2 bars of LTE. Bell and rogers have the 2600 frequency which is supported on the Euro version. But I'm told signal Strength in buildings is week.

Any ETA on when Rogers/Telus/Bell will get the phone and if Koodo/Virgin/Fido will carry it?
Im on ATT. Where can I order one that works even if its only HSPA+ ?

Or just buy it at AT&T since it will probably be cheaper. yes you may have to wait a few more weeks but the Developer addition offers pretty much nothing for you. Chances are the One will be $500-550 contract free at AT&T Stores.
I asked them and they won't ship to the US. Amazon prices are $950, and everywhere else is pre-order. I tried Expansys, but once they saw I was US, they moved my order to Expansys US. I canceled at that point. Amazon UK won't get them until the 12th. How the hell can I buy this phone?

Locked bootloader is no go for me for the T-Mobile version. I was thinking about the International version, but then checked out the FCC specs for the Canadian version S7 Edge SM-G935W8 which are for Telus and Bell. The specs show that the Canadian model supports all the T-Mobile and AT&T LTE: Bands (2/4/5/12/13/17/25/30/41) as well as the 4g HSPA frequencies (850/900/1700/1900/2100)
https://apps.fcc.gov/eas/GetApplicationAttachment.html?id=2893552
It has the Exynos , but is bootloader unlocked and rootable. Off contract price in Canada is $1000 CDN which with exchange is approx $780 USD.
People have unlocked this device using internet unlocking services, so I am strongly considering this model. Is anyone here using it?

Not yet but I'm considering the same option.. Looks like everything is compatible
Yes, apparently if you buy through a Samsung experience store rather than a carrier store it comes with factory unlock codes.

You could more then likely purchase them online as well.
Any update on this? I am looking to get one from Canada too but not sure if it's worth it. I know it won't work with Samsung Pay, Volte, and wifi calling. Anything else you know might not work?
Nope, everything else is working. Supports T-Mobile and att lte
