Hi,
How proximity sensor should work in X10?
Apparently mine doesn't work.
While I talk screen is not blank and I wondering how to enable or adjust proximity sensor to disable touch screen during conversation.
Any ideas?
Cheers!
edit: never mind, i found solution forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736654
Hey, I remember the proximity working while I'm on a phone call when I first got the Samsung focus but it seems it no longer works now. I'm forced to lock the phone before I make the call or I always risk ending the call by accident with my face. Is this a setting? What could of caused the sensor to stop responding.
Hi guys,
I need my app to check if the phone face is covered when the screen unlocks.
I've acomplished this by creating a service to get datas from the proximity sensor. The problem is that it isn't energy efficient as the proximity sensor is checking non-stop until the screen is turned on.
Is there any better way to accomplish this or other sensor to use just to verify if the phone is covered by the moment when the screen is turned on?
Thanks!
Hi everyone,
Long story short, I got a used Nexus 4 off someone, everything works perfectly except the proximity sensor. During a call the screen blacks out and doesn't come back unless I hard reset the phone to hang up. I figured out it was a problem with the proximity sensor. Upon reading these forums and many other articles on Google about taking off the screen protector (which I don't have) and swapping the rubber "sensor" holder holes, I decided to open the phone up and take a look.
It appears that my phone is missing the rubber piece to hold the proximity and light sensors in place, making the sensor unusable and causing many issues with making calls. I've tried playing around with it using other peoples' suggestions and nothing has worked. I've decided to just find a way to disable the proximity sensor instead during a call, as I'll be quite satisfied with just a simple software fix.
Right now I am using Proximity Screen OFF to keep the screen on, but it drains my battery pretty hard. I was thinking to just flash my phone with a mod that allows me to turn the proximity sensor off during a call.
Any suggestions as to which mod contains this feature?
Thank you.
Exactly as title says. Anyone else have the official clear view case from Samsung? Does AOD work when your cover is closed? Would be pretty convenient and for some reason Samsung decided not to include this handy feature...
It's a limitation I think.
AOD require light sensor, proximity sensor and some other sensor to work. The cover render these sensor useless and then may cause problem with AOD, so that's what I think why samsung disable it.

Well the proximity sensors work when talking on the phone with the cover closed... Seems like to me this can be implemented with a minor update.

Are you sure?
I'm not sure about how this kind of case work on new device but I used to have S-view case on my old s4 and it doesn't use proximity sensor to turn display off when calling with cover closed but use motion sensor to detect the movement of the phone to guess whether I'm holding my phone close to my face (and it fail sometimes)
Maybe you can test this by placing your phone on the table when recieving call. Without moving the phone, try cover the proximity sensor and see whether the screen is off.

You are correct sir, it does not use the proximity sensors when the clear cover is on. But even with that, it uses the phone's other sensors to wake and sleep the screen... Why can't this be applied to the AOD? Just a little thing that would be nice to have.

Because AOD use proximity sensor to detect whether your phone is in the pocket and turn itself off to save battery. Motion sensor can't do that. Also for motion sensor to detect your movement it need to be on all the time, thus massive battery drain.
