Hi all,
I've installed TouchLockPro as suggested at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5254295#post5254295
Initial testing seems to prove that it has fixed the problem, well it's a workaround.
It senses (via the G sensor) if the phone is held upright during a call and turns the screen off- no need to rely on the poor proximity sensor.
Please test and let me know how you get on.
There doesn't seem to be any config- just install and it works.
If your proximity sensor does not work then return the device. I have no problems with it at all. Only think I would say is for it to also switch things on/off when phone not in use.
I used to have problems with the proximity sensor but it's been working perfectly since I upgraded to 1.48.
FYI- The proximity sensor does work on my phone. It just proves to be intermittent at sensing- this has been documented by other users.
The main problem is that it doesn't work very well next to hair. So I don't have any problems with the proximity sensor, but my wife (with long hair) does.
proximity sensor works fine for me as long as I don't use the keypad during a call; once i enter anything during a call (like calling card number, extensions etc) the proximity sensor stops working.
I think this bug doesn't show up when using the wired headset, have to confirm this though.
After two weeks testing I found out that the original screen protector with the two holes for the sensor makes the problems!!!
thake the screen protector out or cut it and the proximity sensor will work perfect.

I was just wondering if there was a cab or something I could do to have my proximity sensor turn on when I have my speaker phone activated.
hey there is a great solution in this thread enjoy!
Proximity sensor not turning screen off while in call.
Tested it with an app and it seems to work. Anyone else having this problem?
Solution to this anyone?!
Thanks!!!
As in the title proximity sensor stopped working during call, but only when taking from the ear. It don't wake up screen anymore. Anybody facing same problem? Is there a solution?
me too, all other sensor works except proximity that works one tiem then nothing
Waiting for asus fix the proximity sensor can be disabled from dialer settings to avoid the black call screen.
For me too!! It's very annoying . i have used xposed "sensor Disabler" module as a work around to completely disable proximity sensor!
I had the same on Android 5. Double tap the power button wakes it up.
Got my screen replaced at a local shop after it cracked.
But now the proximity sensor is not working properly as it always detects that it is covered.
Proximity testing apps show that the sensor always shows the value as 0.0 (covered).
can someone help me on how to disable the proximity sensor completely as i face black screen during calls and can't record/hang-up/put on speaker....
I'm rooted and running cosmic os 7.1.1 so xposed is not a solution
Need help disabling it.
:bump:
