Hi. Does our device have a flash counter like the Samsung phones?
Once I rooted or flashed is there a way to return back to fully original Rom with no traceback??
Device D802 EUR (Nordic Rom 10a)
Edit. Have any body noticed that the autobrightness is complete retard?
Example. I use 20% auto. At normal light with no movement it goes
lowest 16%
highest 40%
It just moves between this value. More noticeable in games. Just randomly increase and decreases.
My hands are not covering the sensor also

Cmon lads. The first question ain't so hard to answer well?
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
It's a flag not a counter.
Fashing non stock ROM sets the flag to ROOTED.
Flashing stock ROM (kdz) sets the flag to UNROOTED. It seems that also a full reset after flashing is indicated.
Cheers!

Could you explain the" full reset after flashing is indicated" part? ?

You have 2 choices:
1. Turn on the phone and use the reset option in settings.
or
2. Press VolDown and Power until LG logo appears, realease VolDown and press it again one time and release both keys. After that a message will appear (black text on white screen) and you must confirm the reset pressing 3 times the poser button. This is the procedure as far as I recall. I advise you to verify this on internet.
I hope this will help.

Ah. You suggest this method after returning to stock rom (kdz) right?
Becausr that method only works on stock recovery as I understood.

Yes, do that after flashing a stock ROM to get UNROOTED flag set on.

Try factory reset *2767*3855# ( it deletes all your data) if that doesn't work flash a stock rom and bring your phone in for repairs
Sent from my GT-I9001 using xda premium
I tried factory reset from settings, is it the same thing? Anyway it didn't help. I barely rooted, so I probably won't do rom stuff. Should I return my phone?
Edit: I remembered that I updated from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5. Did you mean that?
Sent from my SGS+
Yes factory reset from settings is the same. Your post was ambiguous so i'll just say what you have to do. Flash a stock rom ie xxxkqB etc or if you are NOT rooted you can skip this step. Then bring your phone in for repairs.
I had a dead zone on my screen, but already rooted so my warrenty was void so I just flashed a stock rom and brought it in for repairs. They did not charge me and replaced my whole screen. Hope this helps.

Does unrooting get warranty back?
Sent from my awesome SGS+
Yes , but its safer to flash a stock rom. If you worried about your data just back it up with Titanium back up.

Right now it isn't rooted and running running stock Touchwiz android 2.3.5. Did you mean that? I haven't changed anything rom stuff.

My device won't boot up power or wont go to recovery mode. powering on has no vibrate feel and it stays black. I used liquid smooth.
Where did you get the liquid smooth rom?

I downloaded a 2.9 rom for att only
1. I wipe factory reset coming from different rom
2. I install liquid smooth
3. I install loki
4. hit reboot
5. it ask for fix for root, i slide it to fix.
6. bam! screen went black!
If all of this cant be fixed, I have to take it back to att for replacement and act dumb. I have last day to return today. 14 policy is about to expire 11:59. I had it since July 15.
If you can't even get any power and can't get into down load mode then you probably are not going to get it fixed. Have you tried odin and seen if it will recognize the device?

Odin do not detect my phone. It SOL! I went to att today. They told me it was SOL too because this device won't boot into recovery or download. Nothing was turning on. So it was replaced by warranty. I told them I rooted it (not playing dumb here at this time) and they replaced it.
Does rooting void warranty right? I don't get it? But I remember on another forums said rooting does not void warranty? Unless they see custom device and unlocked boot loader void warranty?
Can someone explain clearly?

In almost any situation, operating a device in a way other than the manufacturer intended will void the warranty. In the case of AT&T's warranty, they may have explicit clauses against jailbreaking, rooting, and firmware modification in general. In the terms of the manufacturer's warranty, they might even allow for root, but I'm not sure on this. I once saw someone (reputable dev) post that rooting by itself is not an automatic void. They have to prove that what you did broke your device (which it sounds like what you did probably borked it).
If someone has a rooted device, and suddenly the battery explodes or the LED light stops working (on an otherwise stock rom), then it's kinda hard for them to point at "you rooted it" as being the problem.
But yeah, best to look up the verbage in the warranty, to be sure.
What ROM was on there before you flashed liquid?
And what recovery?
I ask because when flashing AT&T liquid on TWRP at least, you don't flash loki and you also don't get prompted to install root. Not even after a full wipe of EVERYTHING.

I'm not a master at this, but wouldn't a JIG put the phone automatically into download mode, if its not bricked that bad?

a jig I've always used for my Infuse, does in fact kick the GS4 into DL mode.
I got the Android 4.3 OTA update more than two weeks ago. Since that time strange vertical lines starts to flicker when I do not touch the screen (See attached screenshot). The first time when I can see these ugly lines after turning on my device is the PIN code entering screen. After that I can see them on the home screen and every app as well. The problem does not occur if I charge my device.
This issue has nothing to do with developer options. I tested it with "disable HW overlays" option and other settings as well but it does not change anything with this. I also tried a factory reset and restoring a clean Android 4.3 using google's factory image for nexus 4.
It can not be a hardware issue because you can see it on the screenshot that was taken with my device. Furthermore, I had no problem with Android 4.2.2.
Has anyone encountered this problem? Can anyone help me?
Ewww, looks like a kernel graphical glitch.
You will have to reflash the kernel, do you have a custom recovery?

Currently nothing is enabled. I turned off every developer options. But I tried with different options from the "Hardware accelerated rendering" category. These options have no effect on the problem.

No, my phone isn't rooted and I don't use a custom kernel.
Do a factory reset ? If that doesn't work you can always flash the img file through adb. But in order to that you would have to unlock boot loader

A custom recovery is a recovery like on a computer but it is not stock so on Android there are Recovery's such has TWRP and CWM.
Flashing the stock kernel via recovery will not replace the Android OS, just the broken kernel.
Basically a custom recovery let's you wipe your device in many ways, repair the OS, Backups, Flashing kernels/ROMs/Fixes/Addons and much more.
If that fails then unlock the bootloader, go to the bootloader and use this tool to get everything back to normal: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occamjwr66v
EDIT: Oops, flashing a custom recovery does not fix the kernel in the same time of course, you will have to flash that kernel using the flash feature.

Once you have rooted your phone, you have to delete a file in system, wich overwrites the custom recovery with the original. But i don't remember wich file it is. I think Google know it.:cyclops:
EDIT: I found it: you need a root Explorer. Go to system/etc and delete "install-recovery.sh"
After that, flash a custom recovery. Now it should work.
What also helps sometimes is to uncheck "auto-reboot" in Odin.
When the flashing is finished, you just hold the power button for 10 sec (until it reboots).

Just flash it in odin, but make sure the phone is off for 30 seconds or so before you do the button combo for download mode, as modems sometimes don't flash if you boot straight into download mode.
Tick bootloader update in odin, obviously a full data wipe from recovery as i doubt it would boot otherwise

So I just take any country's n9005 4.4.4 tar file and flash via odin? The only think new is to just tick on 'bootloader update' ? So basically downgrading to 4.4.4 only requires a tick on bootloader update?
