You could connect a usb otg modem.
for whatsapp: you can backup it from any phone and restore it on your wifi only device.

I don't understand what you need? Could you explain a little more?
The tab as sold does not have a phone capability in US tabs.
If someone calls i would like to use my blackberry to answer the phone. So the tab should not be acceptong incoming calls but
still use dataacces( so i can not somple put it on flight mode)

You could try flashing the radio for the T-Mobile US Tab, as this has data but no voice capability and it seems that this has been disabled in the modem.bin.
Look for Rotohammers modem switcher.

Dave
I dont know where the tab is from, if not an US tab, then just take out the simcard

Not exactly a good idea if you still want to have 3G data - which the OP does!

Dave

I have a german SGT with 3 SIM Multi Cards from my provider (O2).
-I have incoming calls only for SIM card 1 in my cellular phone,
-SIM card 2 is used in my 3G router and
-SIM card 3 is used in my built in 3G modem at my HP notebook.
I configured my SIM cards with the O2 web interface, there was no need to configure something at my phone.

Does Google Wallet need wifi?

This thought just occured to me. If i go to a store or im in a cab and use the nfc, i know it will pick it up, but doesnt it need internet to communicate to google servers in order to do the transfer? its a wifi only device and yes i know you can tether, but just seems weird.
I don't have personal experience in this matter but I have read you only need wifi to setup the Wallet. Once the setup is complete, you can use it without wifi.
Unless I am mistaken it stores the information that would be normally stored on a physical card on your device so that it doesn't need a connection. When you go to make a purchase it then uses the nfc to transmit the data in someway, "swiping" the card.
But I'm not exactly sure. It makes the most sense to do it that way though.

the few times i have used wallet on my phone it seems to go out on the network to update the balance. I assume it works like a credit card though and the machine you tap your phone to does the credit check to the account so i would guess is not necessary. I'd try it Monday but I'll probably forget. We have vending machines at work with paypass terminals.
Hello!
After confirming from google, the Wallet app doesn't need WiFi or any data connection to pay at a paypass location since all it does is send card info over NFC. However, it does need wifi to update your balance and transaction list.
Used it today at cvs, does not need wifi

[Q] Mobile data being used while disabled

I use the latest NexusHD2 ROM and sometimes my phone connects to 3G and uses up my money for mobile internet from my provider even though I have it disabled, because I only use Wi-fi. It also does this when I install ROM through CWM and boot it up. My temporary solution was to install app to block mobile data to certain applications, but I'd like some better solution if there is.
Forgot to mention, but apps that have autoupdate feature in them do this too when I have wifi off.
Have you tried fixing permissions?

OK I'll try that and report back :good:
Sorry for doublepost, but I wanted to say so far so good altough whenever I flash new ROM it always has them enabled by default, It would be good if I could turn them off before that so I don't have to take out my SIM card everytime :/
Don't know where it is but if you remove the apn file from the rom before installing that should do it.
Google is your friend
I do now.. /system/etc/apns-conf.xml

[Q] mobile data problem!

When I am browsing the internet, some times my mobilde data network gone and can not connect the internet. after some times automatically mobile data network arrive and works find again.
Now my questien is how to know it is a problem of my network operator. And how to know it is not a hardware or internal problem of my phone (Galaxy Note 3)?
Are you on the move when this happens, or at the edge of the signal tower range?
Get the same here. It shows the arrows as sending data but not receiving any. Not on the move either and full signal. Also if I switch WIFI on when that happens it still doesn't download data. After a while it will work. Never had it happen on my previous phone.

[Q] Samsung S5 no Mobile Network ?

A friend of mine who works at Samsung gave me an S5 Mini (Samsung SM-G800X). He told me its only good for browsing, it doesn’t have the necessary hardware to use as a phone. It also came with Samsung Retail mode enabled. I’m wondering if it really is the case, that it doesn’t have the right hardware or could it be that I just need to flash it with the right firmware?
The Build Number was KOT49H.G800XXXU1ANG1_LLK
Android 4.4.2
I used the Phone INFO Samsung app and got following Info:
Hardware/Board: Universal3470
Platform/Chip: exynos3/xynos3470
Modem Board: SS222
Hardware Revision: Not Active
I managed to remove Samsung Retail Mode and flashed it with the closest Firmware I could find
G800FXXU1ANL1_G800FBTU1ANJ1_BTU
Before flashing there was not even a Mobile Network option under Network Connections. After I flashed it the option for Mobile networks is there.
But as before the phone will not connect/find a network with a working sim inserted. I know that the sim card slot works, because without a sim card it gives an message ‘No SIM’, this disappears as soon as it’s inserted.
Have I got it wrong, it really doesn’t have the hardware? It seems weird that the Modem Board is reported. Is there anything else I could try? Thanks
My knowledge is that models designated 900X do NOT have the radios to make a mobile connection, but CAN be used as WiFi only devices, so for instance Google voice will give you full functionality, but you'll need to be connected to WiFi at all times.
