I use the latest NexusHD2 ROM and sometimes my phone connects to 3G and uses up my money for mobile internet from my provider even though I have it disabled, because I only use Wi-fi. It also does this when I install ROM through CWM and boot it up. My temporary solution was to install app to block mobile data to certain applications, but I'd like some better solution if there is.
Forgot to mention, but apps that have autoupdate feature in them do this too when I have wifi off.
Have you tried fixing permissions?

OK I'll try that and report back :good:
Sorry for doublepost, but I wanted to say so far so good altough whenever I flash new ROM it always has them enabled by default, It would be good if I could turn them off before that so I don't have to take out my SIM card everytime :/
Don't know where it is but if you remove the apn file from the rom before installing that should do it.
Google is your friend
I do now.. /system/etc/apns-conf.xml

have several times including wipe data, cache and dalvik. using cm6.1.1, same results with cm and pershoot kernel.
doesnt seem like i easily find the answer so if someone could even recommend the best area to start looking foe issues that would be great. Or would it help to somehow get an error log from it if that possible? thanks, veritas
Try turning off 3G for a whole day and see if you have the problem. It could be the 3G.

I've got data issues as well, I installed the Desire OS on my HD2 on the USA t-mobile network. I suspect the Desire ROM is from the UK, it has no glitches except with connecting to my US Data network. I've Looked and I can't seem to find a US Desire OS nearly as stable as the one I currently have + with working data. Anyone have any ideas?
Nvm, I got it. =)
Hello,
Had some setcpu wanna be installed that would toggle mobile data for different battery percentages and since removing it I can't enable 4g with the widget toggle or the menu setting. Seems that even with data enabled (how I'm sending this now) something in the system is telling the 4G option it's actually disabled.
Of course I've tried reboots, it's persisted through kernel upgrades and a rom upgrade. I guess I'm looking for clues as to where this would need to be fixed. I've tried updating the prl, the profile and setting WCDMA preferred, turning on/off the radio in the debug menu... nothing.
Currently using Peter Alfonso's ICS/bugless beast rom (2/16? Build) and mathkids Matr1x kernel (17.5).
Any help would be awesome.

Did you freeze or disable any apps? And have you tried doing a Nandroid backup and re-flashing your rom (or any other) to see if that fixes the problem.
hopefully you didn't wipe your wimax partition while in recovery, otherwise you will have to restore the wimax.img

I've flashed more roms as upgrades but not restored anything from nandroid backup. I have only froze the Facebook app - the rest I'd like to - ICS won't let me.

Sometimes going into settings and disabling/enabling data will fix it, you could try reinstalling the rom, or at worst repartition/reinstall.
Hi guys,
My wife phone is rooted, and im finding a way to permanently disable mobile data cause the kids keep playing with the phone and they accidentally switch it on, and we are screwed.
We only use it on wifi, how can I permanently stop it. Its already disabled from the settings, but I need something more secure.
