Just wondering what would be a good kernel to use. I am using stock CM7 right now, the latest stable build.

best combination of kernel and rom

Hi Guys,
In every week, updates are coming for both kernel and ROM. So we can maintain this thread for posting your opinions about the perfect combinations of the kernel and ROM at that point of time..It will be very helpful for noobs like me Cool.
please give you opinions abt all the combinations of ROM like-
ICSSGS
CNA
teamhacksung's CM9 ALPHA
CM9
AOKP
and kernels like
devils 14.2
devils 1.0
glitch
semaphore
thunderbolts
Hope this thread will be active and will be healpfull to all
Currently I am using the combination of-
RC4.2+ devil 14.2 kernel.
I didnt face any problems till now other than battery back up..also some feauters like video calling etc is missing.
Is there any better ROM available. I heard that CNA is coming with updates in a regular basis and they have more features. Also android open kang project(AOKP) which is updated yesterday seems to be good. Did any one tried that? please post your suggestions
MyICS 2.2.13
Devil 1.1
very smooth, no lag .......
Slim ICS + Team Hacksung Kernel
AOKP and Semaphore 0.8.1 is the best for me, no lags, fast as lightspeed and stable as a rock.
RC4.2+ devil kernel 1.1
tried aopk+ semaphore
seems good...there are somany good options
nw with build16 + devils1.1
good one..aslo battery back up is awsm.....
hi all
today one new rom came- DARK Knight.
did any one tried that..seems goos
Which kernel is running in that one?
CM9 build 16 with semaphore 0.8.1
tried them all but the others don't come close in speed, battery life and features - e.g. I really need T9-dialer and CM9 has it but AOSP doesn't, neither does Onecosmic etc
Running CM9 build 16 and semaphore 0.8.1, tried a few over the past week and this seems to hit just right
I'm currently also using Teamhacksung B16 - stock kernel, and that seems fine to me. Before that I was on Darky 10.4(.2)+Semaphore kernel - wasn't bad, either.
What are the advantages to Semaphone on THS B16?
now running dark night....gys try this one ..it is awsm
Guys Stick to CNA or ICSSGS .....those are very stable buils nd use either Onecosmics playtypus kernal or DEVIL 1.0 BFS ! ROCK SOLID !
for me Teams ICSGS & semaphore 0.8.1. Also tried devil 15.1 & 14.2 but so far this is best for me.

I use ICSSGS 4.2 + Devil 14.2 it's nice. I will try Semaphore and then comments
Cm9 build 16 with stock kernel.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
ICSSGS 4.2 & Devilkernel 1.1
In NSTools Aktiv Sheduler = bfq
Governor= smartassV2
Max CPU = 1300 Mhz.
No lag, no reboot, fast, Quadrant @ 1762
Greets,
Andreas
Currently, im running on F1 Galaxy S II Ver. 8 rom + latest Semaphore 2.5.0scbm kernel with Voodoo Sound Manager Control...the battery life seems so good,no lags.ultra super smooth scrolling because it uses:
1.Thunderbolt Script
2.TouchWiz 4.0 like Samsung Galaxy S2 and etc..
You can check this link for reference:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129404
try it..you won't regret...
I'm now using AOKP Build 23 with Semaphore 0.8.1...no lags...great speed...no issues so far..
Recommend it...

[Q] overclock ics on a500?

ok, now ics has been released, can we get a overclocked kernel?
hc could overclock and played hd files smoothly. ics still jumpy until overclock.
thanks to you all people on xda, you are the best
I have posted the same question. Have not gotten any replies yet.
Bump
??
I think we need to wait until Acer drops the ICS kernel source. Until then, he who must not be mentioned's ICS rom can overclock both the GPU and CPU and it works quite well. Can't mention it on XDA though...do a search for tegraowners A500 rom and you'll get your answer...

Motley kernel and Trinity 7 kernel

Hey guys... Just rooted my Nexus 7. I did some research on kernels and found out the two most popular ones are motley kernel and trinity kernel. Can you please explain the differences among the two and which one is better? Thanks a lot..

I've tried the available kernels a few different times and I personally like Faux's kernel most of all. It's nice and smooth like the others but runs quite a bit cooler for me when gaming.

When I first joined this forum I flashed whatever was the most popular. Those are not always the best.
Why don't you flash them all and see which one works the best for you? Some kernels get you a few hundred points more on a benchmark, but no real difference in every-day usage. I am currently making my rounds of the kernels, currently trying Faux's latest ES Beta build: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31508178&postcount=421. Rolling with AOKP Official.
Hi,
I tried Faux Kernel, Trinity kernel and Mothley kernel. Wich is better hmm.
- Trinity Kernel : My device is just not as smooth as the stock kernel. Disliked.
- Mothley : Much smoother then Trinity Kernel but still hard to say if it is more then the Stock.
- Faux Kernel : It is not slower then stock. It is as smooth, maybe even more ?

Kernel Troubles

I'm using cm10 4.1.2 and I am having a lot of trouble with the kernels I have tried. Is/was there a stable kernel with overclocking ever released by a dev? I've tried faux's, clemsyn's, and mkernel and I have had no luck with any of them running smoothly. Also, do 4.2.x kernels work on 4.1.x?

try trinity kernel. but cm changed some stuff, so its possible that many kernels wont work with cm unless its specifically built for cm support.
