best combination of kernel and rom - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi Guys,
In every week, updates are coming for both kernel and ROM. So we can maintain this thread for posting your opinions about the perfect combinations of the kernel and ROM at that point of time..It will be very helpful for noobs like me Cool.
please give you opinions abt all the combinations of ROM like-
ICSSGS
CNA
teamhacksung's CM9 ALPHA
CM9
AOKP
and kernels like
devils 14.2
devils 1.0
glitch
semaphore
thunderbolts
Hope this thread will be active and will be healpfull to all

Currently I am using the combination of-
RC4.2+ devil 14.2 kernel.
I didnt face any problems till now other than battery back up..also some feauters like video calling etc is missing.
Is there any better ROM available. I heard that CNA is coming with updates in a regular basis and they have more features. Also android open kang project(AOKP) which is updated yesterday seems to be good. Did any one tried that? please post your suggestions

MyICS 2.2.13
Devil 1.1
very smooth, no lag .......

Slim ICS + Team Hacksung Kernel

AOKP and Semaphore 0.8.1 is the best for me, no lags, fast as lightspeed and stable as a rock.

RC4.2+ devil kernel 1.1

tried aopk+ semaphore
seems good...there are somany good options

nw with build16 + devils1.1
good one..aslo battery back up is awsm.....

hi all
today one new rom came- DARK Knight.
did any one tried that..seems goos
Which kernel is running in that one?

CM9 build 16 with semaphore 0.8.1
tried them all but the others don't come close in speed, battery life and features - e.g. I really need T9-dialer and CM9 has it but AOSP doesn't, neither does Onecosmic etc

Running CM9 build 16 and semaphore 0.8.1, tried a few over the past week and this seems to hit just right

I'm currently also using Teamhacksung B16 - stock kernel, and that seems fine to me. Before that I was on Darky 10.4(.2)+Semaphore kernel - wasn't bad, either.
What are the advantages to Semaphone on THS B16?

now running dark night....gys try this one ..it is awsm

Guys Stick to CNA or ICSSGS .....those are very stable buils nd use either Onecosmics playtypus kernal or DEVIL 1.0 BFS ! ROCK SOLID !

for me Teams ICSGS & semaphore 0.8.1. Also tried devil 15.1 & 14.2 but so far this is best for me.

ICSSGS 4.2 & Devilkernel 1.1
In NSTools Aktiv Sheduler = bfq
Governor= smartassV2
Max CPU = 1300 Mhz.
No lag, no reboot, fast, Quadrant @ 1762
Greets,
Andreas

Currently, im running on F1 Galaxy S II Ver. 8 rom + latest Semaphore 2.5.0scbm kernel with Voodoo Sound Manager Control...the battery life seems so good,no lags.ultra super smooth scrolling because it uses:
1.Thunderbolt Script
2.TouchWiz 4.0 like Samsung Galaxy S2 and etc..
You can check this link for reference:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129404
try it..you won't regret...

I'm now using AOKP Build 23 with Semaphore 0.8.1...no lags...great speed...no issues so far..
Recommend it...

[Tips] Best Rom + Kernel for Ics in Nexus S I9023

Well after several weeks of testing of different kernels and roms for ics on my nexus s i9023,i finally got a great combination of rom+kernel which s quite stable and smooth..
the combination and the specs are
rom: koush's alpha 12[download through rom manager,it has the new features such as rotating homescreen and apps drawer, screenshot in power menu, reboot in power menu, android dream in display options..]
latest gapps from rom manager
kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1283031
overclock to 1300 mhz using nstools..[smartass v2 govenor]
reduce the amount of multitasking and animation effects in the developer settings in ics for better battery..use advanced task killer for speedy response...
well i tried these in my nexus s and the output was fantastic give a try
NOTE: for a clean flash install the rom with rom manger and then flash the gapps and kernel...
have a clean wipe before installing the rom and also after installing the google apps pack and kernel
is this helped????
hit thanks if it does
Is synchronizing the Facebook contacts? I've decided just give up of ICS Aosp just for a rom that sync Facebook contacts.
no ics roms as far as now synchoronising the facebook stuffs perfectly,i think there are one or two roms which provides fb sync..but they are not upto the mark
how about battery life?

battery life s not dat much attractive
if u like to hav an awsum battery life in ics roms
go for
Brainmaster's tweaked version of koush's alpha 11 + franco's kernel
or also try the
drew garen's ics beta 2 which s quite stable but misses sum addons that koush's
alpha 12 has..no rom has those addons that alpha 12 has..

Best rom/kernel

Hi, what is the best rom and kernel for galaxy s,best performance, more tweaks...atm i have cm7.
Any custom rom with tw 3 ,4?
Thanks for support.
Post link with rom .kernel......pls
Aghh that's a tough question, everyone will say "try and see for yourself the best one that fits you".
The BEST for me is latest full stock with no customization at all.

you should try this rom:F1 Galaxy S II V8 with touchwiz 4.0+Semaphore kernel 2.5.0...running so smooth and doing very well..
Link:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129404
You should try semaphore kernel + Thunderbolt Tweaks.
For ROM, I'm using F1 Innovation HD 7.0.
It is stable and smooth......
Best rom: [ROM][ICS][I9000] Team ICSSGS RC4.2 with Semaphore 0.81, Devil 14.2 or Devil 15.1 kernels
The best stock roms are from Poland (CSC:XEO) .
Check out JS8 rom for 2.2.1 , it's fast and very stable with good signals (GPS,Wireless,etc.).
Unfortunately i don't recommend 2.3.x roms because in my opinion are simply crap.
Aokp build22 b1.2
GingerReal2 - R2.0.0+ midnight-0.8.8 kernel
Great battery life smooth fast, stable.

Lot of rom and kernel info.
Currently using MIUI 2.2.24 with patch
Very fast and stable, looks nice and good battery life.
Just to add a bit of polish I use the Black Android Theme.
Lovely looking theme if you like black themes.
Ill message the links to you.

Yes. Semaphore is the best kernel. Devil not bad too.

I finally bailed on GB and installed ICS last night. Very nice, teamics with semaphore running very smooth with no issues.
GB was always disappointing. More memory used and not much slicker or faster than Froyo.
As someone said JS8 with speedmod was very good, probably the best for being lean. ICS is probably sucking back the same amount of memory as GB but at least it runs much smoother, looks better and has some cool features added.
[ROM][ICS][I9000] Team ICSSGS RC4.2
I just installed this rom to my galaxy s. It is a bit slow but it is my favorite room.
AOKP Rom + Semaphore kernel. Trying Devil kernel atm, not bad.

[ICS]Favorite ICS rom post it plzz!!!

Hello guys whats the best ics u have used so far on your sgs2 i9100???
Gingerbread rom kernel combo also appreciated!!
GB Roms I like RevoHD 6 + Siyah kernel.
For ICS, I've been using The latest Foxhound + Stock kernel, only cause CM9 doesn't have working video yet, if video isn't a priority i'd go with CM9 for sure.
thebyani rom v3.2
All leaked ICS Roms based not worked to me for everyday use, I had bootloops, hans, freezes there and here... A little annoying. I would suggest CheckROM v6 based en XWLA4, its the best rom i've used!
Without any hesitation, I'd say Thebyani v3.2
It works like a charm, no lag/FC at all and great battery life ! All the bugs I met with other roms are fixed in this one. Give it a try !
I can't really say anything about ICS roms as the ones that I did test were still very buggy and not stable at all
But I have had my share of GB roms.
Started with Hydroxigen but couldn't get my keyboard to appear (I was a flashing n00b back then )
So I went to GingerMod v0.8, this rom was REALLY good for me. It was very fast, stable and in combination with Speedmod kernel a real battery-saver
Only thing I didn't like was that the Gingermod updates didn't work for me. I could download them and it would reboot into recovery and install them but I never noticed any difference.
Then I went to Checkrom RevoHD V6 together with Redpill and the Magic UV config (adapted to my own device obviously ) and I am still using this to this day. The Kitchen app works like a charm and I even have my Azerty samsung keyboard I really hated the AOSP gingerbread keyboard! No .com button?! Special characters and smileys on different locations? Yurg!
So my current and favourite Rom/kernel combo is: Checkrom RevoHD v6 + Redpill kernel
If you want the best GB stock for battery life and not cluttered up with all kinds of useless mods, then go with VillainRom 3.0 and siyah kernel.
If FM radio and video recording aren't important then CM9 rocks. All these people who complain of reboots fc's etc. haven't flashed it correctly
Best bet is to nandroid and then try them all, feed that addiction baby...................
I'm using official ICS beta (rooted) XXLPB as my daily driver since it was released. It works great, not bugs/hangs or any other crap.
Using Phone, Mobile Data, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and Camera on a daily basis with no issues at all.

Any of 4.0.3 costume roms has vpn working?
i tried 3 that its not working for me. for example:
Bezke ultraics 2.2 XXLPB
Resurrection Remix ics v9.4 black edition XXLPH 4.0.3
Omega ics latest base from samy
Guys could u also post your quadrant highscores (images appreciated)!!!
CM9 Nightly. best rom I had to use.
I use AndyX ROM 6.0 (based on XXLPH). It works perfectly, meaning no forcecloses and features like wifi, 2G/3G, camera, video etc. are all working.
Plus it has some nice visual additions, such as blue icons in notification bar and a nice shutter-like effect when the screen turns off.
I can only recommend it

Sorry, we don't allow "What's the best ROM" threads in this forum because we get several every single day.
Flash one and try them for yourself and then comment in that ROM's thread about your experience.

[POLL] What ROM are you using? Please vote!

Hi!
Let´s have a roundup on what ROM are you using at the moment.
This is a good starter point for newcomers (like myself) and just a interesting view on what people use/prefer.
You can also state why you like the ROM, what are benefits, ect.
Thanks!
Arconium GB 8.2, DoomKernel v22, Setxperia (undervolt -100, smartassv2, noop)
Arconium GB 8.2, Doomkernel v22, lagfree, sio, max 1.21Ghz, min 123Mhz. Launcher Pro Plus, exDialer, exContact No lag and very very fast Battery drain NO used: 2 day 10hour and more 34%
ARConium ICS Stock kernel for few weeks

Thanks!
I'm using "Original Xperia S Rom V6 for Arc / Arc S" + "DooMKernel v22"
I like Xperia S new app!
CyanogenMod 7.2 all the way(though not the FXP version, but nightly). It's simply the fastest rom out there. Battery life is ok.
I'm using the latest KA ICS (17.2). Battery life is ok, and it is fast. But from time to time it starts to lag and I have to reboot. I haven't tried any other Rom. I've been using KA since the 7th version. Might have to try another one...
I like the Acronium ICS ROM,but now I'm using L-MOD's rom which from China.

GB Arconium 8.2, DoomKernel v22, V6 SuperCharger
Still choosing between SetXperia and AnTuTu CPU Master Pro (currently trying this one), help on this is appreciated
maybe should ask which kernel also? i noticed battery drain randomly with doomkernel v4 then i switch to arcknight no problems ^^ using arconium ics 2.2, very light with barebone install
and ics miui is so lag and slow even overclock at max1.4ghz arc

ROM choices!

Just got a Nexus 7 Tablet last night. I know everyone hates the "best ROM" question but I am clueless ass to the Nexus 7 scene. I have been an EVO/EVO 3D rom user forever.
What is the BEST Nexus 7 Rom for basic performance, battery and mostly added features / tools? If anyone has the time/desire to quickly (in a nutshell) compare and contrast a few top roms that would be awesome.
Your best results will be for you to read the various threads about each of the roms.
There the users of the roms will have posted what they like, have problems with experiences.
It would be hard to get a good comparison from anyone unless they actually have tried all the various rom.
I prefer clean ROM's that don't stray too far from AOSP, and don't include a lot of features. With that said, here's some of my favorites:
CleanROM
TeamEOS
Liquid Jellybean
Glazed Jellybean
And if you do choose a AOSP ROM, Here are some kernels:
motley kernel
faux kernel
Clemsyn's Elite Kernel
Trinity Seven
I'm currently about to give TeamEOS's latest nightly + Clemsyn's Elite Kernel (undervolted) a try
I've moved to Baked Grouper with motley's kernel and am wildly impressed. Liquid is also a very nice ROM.

Thanks for the replies guys. I went ahead and tried Baked Grouper Blackbean by Team Baked.
What are some advantages of the motley kernel?
