You have to use safestrap. Follow the following thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448925
there is a Q&A thread near your post as well.

Just read the goldeneye thread. There is a version made especially for safe strap. Read the safe strap instruction and flash only that version.
Here is the Q&A.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2428254
I don't have to use safestrap so I am not sure if you must me on MK2 (4.3) to flash a 4.3 rom on safestrap and use version 3.71

You will need to upgrade to MK2 to use any 4.3 ROM, and once you do you can not go back. Either you update or see if there's a 4.2.2 version of goldeneye.

You have to take the OTA. Basically let the software update upgrade you to 4.3 MK2. As he stated once you are on 4.3 you can't go back and you are it forever.
Then you will have to:
You have to remove safe strap before updating. Delete any slots, uninstall SS from the app. Take the OTA update and then install 3.71. Not sure if you can keep root but supersu might let you. It's east to reroot with saferoot after

Then you will have to:
1. boot into stock slot with stock rom
2. Take MK2 4.3 OTA
3. Uninstall SS 3.65
4. Install 3.71
5. Create new slot
6. Install ss 3.71 compatible 4.3 rom.
(I believe you will have to re-root as well. the safe root method is what most use)

Check the General section for the update.zip thread and read through the instructions. You will have to remove safestrap and the slots, and your MF3 system files will need to be unmodified (either ODIN to stock or flash the MF3 Unadulterated ROM and the root addon to the stock slot in safestrap before removing it. The thread is in the general section also). You can use SuperSU's survival mode to keep root or reroot afterwards.

Starting at the MF3 point in this thread helped me. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2526964
The OP has a link to download the update and side load it. I was able to install off my sd card through stock recovery. I detailed somewhere towards the end of the thread how I did it. It was off topic however. Feel free to ask questions. I will try to consolidate a good how to a little later tonight.

Raidel00 has a thread opened up for mf3 to mj9. I don't know how successful his thread has been since I used the other method (link) you posted and it worked fine for me. But don't you just have to side load it through adb or through SD card? Since your on mf3 you dont have to download the mf3 partial file that I had to download since I was on mj6 correct?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
This is correct. Just download the update file, rename to a zip and side load through adb or use recovery to install.

About to try this with my ATT S4 with MF3 and report.
If you do have troubles still when your phone boots and you are rooted use a file explorer to look at the log files in /cache/recovery to see where it failed.
This is how I installed my MJ9. I had a modified feature.xml file.

Choose only one. ... If u use 4 files then u need to place it according to image on post #2...... Each file goes to each Odin slot. ...... but if u choose all in one file then only place it on PDA slot from Odin. The others separate files from post#3 use it only if you soft bricked and want to replace certain file ( recovery, boot or modem). Both 4 files and all in one files would wipe your data and apps..... It would take you straight to stock MK2 firmware.

MK2 being 4.3? it seems to me, the easiest riute is the all in one, although it is huge..i can always delete it after use of course.
from what i understand, even after a wipe, i can reinstall titanium backup and get all my data and apps back or is there a better way? member, dumber here...
and, stock MK2... is there a link to rooting this after i do the upgrade ? i like a rooted phone..i unlocked the bootloader on my atrix , i guess more as an act of defiance than knowing wtf i was doing...
so now with my S4, i hope to resolve the freeze and wi-fi issues...i had no such problems with my S3..and of course i want to attain root.
thanks!

Updating MF3 to NB1

Hey guys,
I've got a rooted s4 with mf3 on it currently and was wondering what the safest way to get to nb1 would be. I have no recovery installed. Just rooted and left it alone.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

[Q] Help on custom ROM and the knox 0x1 workaround

Hi XDAers,
I just have an i9505 carrier locked with Globe telecoms (Phil). I rooted via ODIN and Clockwork 6.0.4.7 via ODIN as well. I was impatient and I later realized that this KNOX thing is 0x1 on my phone. Does this Knox tripped thing do anything with messing up with my future use of custom roms? I am on 4.2.2 with baseband ver i9505xxubmg5. I want to use custom ROMS with 4.4.2 like Arrow ROM or the likes. I am actually lost here. I dont know whether this KNOX will mess up the functionality of my phone. How do I proceed in installing custom ROMS? Since I am rooted and have clockwork installed should I justt go ahead and download custom zipped ROMS and install? I used to have i9000 Galaxy S, and I was using custom all the way and now that I got my phone replaced with this i9505.. I think I cant live with a stocked based ROM. What are the disadvantages of having KNOX 0x1? Will I not be able to use custom roms without problems?

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately it has KNOX. I just got the phone last week. As I already done rooting it.. checking it on SuperSU it said do I wish to disable KNOX? then I pressed yes... some way or the other the carrier may have had knox preinstalled or something... or maybe I am totally lost what KNOX is... what I am afraid of, maybe if it has KNOX, I do hope it doesnt affect performance and phone capabilities in any way.
One thing, if I proceed to install new ROM, will I just download zip file, den go to recovery then install it? is it just that simple like the old days?

Ok,
when i set everything together:
4.4.2 is the first version that contains KNOX?
When flashed a 4.4.2 stock you cant go back to previous builds off stock?
So, when i am on XE2 4.2.2, i can actually flash I9505XXUEMKF 4.3 because it doenst contain KNOX?

Bt just be aware that from 4.3 nd onwards ur phn will have knox as if u want go back to stock u will have to flash 4.3 stock firmware which will be having knox nd if u flash some 4.4.2 custom rom u will nt come back to 4.3 or 4.2 based stock rom or custom rom

Thank you. I am kinda getting into it... I hope so. What about those ROMS 4.3 and onwards... most of these custom ROMS are without KNOX they say or they removed it.. true?

Yes. I read about downgrade not possible. Would you suggest I stick with 4.2.2? But there are stable versions of 4.3 and above. I dont want ending up with a headache because I went to a custom ROM 4.3 and <. By the way, the link you just sent a while ago.. the arrow rom.. do I only need to download the zip file and install it via recovery with my current 4.2.2 stock? simple as that or do I need to go to a newer ROM and then flash it with that arrow rom?

And I think sticking toh 4.2.2 is nt a thing bt flashing 4.4.2 stock rom is risky bt mostly custom roms are based stable versions only

what do I insert in bootloader, PIT, PHONE, PDA, CSC? or Do I just load the zip file of the ROM under CWM and install it?
Thanks

Query before installing Cloudy G3 Rom

Hi
My LG G2 is currently running Software Version "D80220c" which is "Kitkat 4.4.2"
It's not rooted or anything. It's in devices stock form.
In order to install Cloudy G3 rom, what should i do?
Like root install some custom recovery and then the rom? (I am sort of new to these stuffs)
If there is a complete video instruction then please do share.
Thanks

You should root your device first(use towelroot to root your device, link: https://towelroot.com/ ) and after you done rooting, install authored for a custom recovery, link: http://www.droidviews.com/install-twrp-recovery-on-lg-g2-running-android-4-4-2-kitkat/, what phone carrier are you subscribed to?

I am using the D802 international unlocked version
I am currently running LG's Stock Kitkat firmware. In CloudyG3 thread they mentioned about flashing Kitkat baseband. Thats what actually got me confused as i already have official kitkat lg rom installed so if i need to do that

no there is no need to flash the kk baseband if you are already on official kk, it is placed in instructions of most kk roms to flash kk baseband because some people are going from jb to kk and they need kk baseband

The kit Kat baseband only applies if you already have a custom Rom installed (like Cyanogenmod, Paranoid Android, or Mahdi Rom, etc), and you're trying to flash CloudyG3 Rom, you'll need the kit Kat baseband for your variant for the Rom to recognize you device, but since you're stock rooted, no need to go through the kit Kat baseband procedure, just backup all of your files in TWRP, and proceed with the steps of installing CloudyG3 in the CloudyG3 Thread by the OP, good luck[emoji4][emoji106]

Ok so i managed to root and use autorec to install twrp.
1. Do i need to run the autorec app everytime and proceed with the options to go to recovery? Or how do I get into custom recovery?
2. It installed TWRP 2.7. Now can i install any other roms like PA4.4.3+ and CM11 M9 from this version of TWRP?

1. But after installing twrp Knock-On feature does not work for unlocking the screen. It can only be used for locking.

1. Open Dialer in your Stock LG Rom, and put in this code 3845#*802#, and go to update touch firmware.
2. No you don't need to run the autorec app everytime, go to the playstore and install Rom manager, and there's an option that says "reboot into Recovery Mode', choose that option, and you'll automatically reboot into Recovery Mode.
3. Yes you can now install custom Roms like PA4.4.3+ and CM11 M9, just make sure you backup your Stock LG Rom.

Maybe its something wrong with the zip file.. i saw another user posting that he couldnt flash android L using the same version of TWRP like you.. and you are saying that you cant flash G3 ROMs like CloudyG3 or OptimusG3 but other ROMs are working?
Look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/help/error-executing-updater-binary-zip-twrp-t2988604/page2
Read the last post, but i dont recommend you to flash the first version of TWRP (2.7.0.0) you could try a newer one but if dont works then try 2.7.0.0
EDIT: I see there a loki error... how did you flashed the TWRP? did you used AUTOREC? if not, did you downgraded the bootloader to JB ?

Ok.. and I think that you used the BUMPed TWRP by Blastagator? you also need to downgrade your bootloader to JB
Uhm.. if you used AutoRec it will downgrade the bootloader automatically..JB bootloader is essential!.. you had luck that you got that error, if you would successfully flashed any ROM your phone would hard brick because you are using the KK bootloader right now and the loki patch gives you a error..loki works only with JB bootloader
Next time when you go to stock:
- root using ioroot OR towelroot + supersu from market
- use AutoRec to flash recovery (this will also downgrade from KK bootloader to JB bootloader)
- update recovery (flash the latest version) *recommended but not obligatory
So.. right now you need to flash the JB bootloader in order to can install other ROMs but I dont think that somebody made flashable zip with vs980 bootloader :/.. you could extract yourself the bootloader from the KDZ firmware file..But I think its easier just to reflash the firmware using flash tool and then use AutoRec
