The risk with your IMEI is that anybody who clones your IMEI, is essentially you. Imagine a terrorist with your IMEI getting noticed by the NSA at the same time as you are using the same IMEI. Probably won't end happily.

But why he will use my IMEI any number he can use

He will use yours because he knows it's valid and that way he looks like you. While they are investigating you (waterboarding, torture etc) he will be resetting his phone to the next IMEI that he has found, and still doing what he does. You, however will be living the life from hell.

[q] help!!! Korean galaxy note e160l imei and rom problem

Hi, my girl friend bought a galaxy note from Korea last week.
We live in Turkey and in Turkey we have to register the imei number of the phone to the govenrment. But, there is no imei number in the phone. We tried *#06#, we went to the samsung service, but the phone does not have an imei number. Is it possible to write email to note?
I want to flash an international rom, but I do not know is it possible for E160L version of galaxy note? I could not find any information about this.
Does anybody have korean version of galaxy note? Could you change the rom?
Thanks
Dont want to sound offensive but did she really bought a real phone?? Bcoz never heard of a phone without Imei..apart from chinese fakes.
She is with me now. I am already using n7000 galaxy note. First she called me and told this situation. I did not believe her first. But, yesterday she brought her phone to me. Yes it is a real galaxy note SHV-E160L. I called samsung, they said that yes it is true but you have to contact Samsung Korea.
It is really interesting but yes the phone has no imei.
I solved the registration issue of imei number. I called the government office, and they said that because it has no imei there is no problem because we can not detect your phone.
Now I have to install an internation Rom. How can I install Europe or US Rom to Korean Galaxy note?

n900 vs n9000

I 've seen the non-LTE international Note 3 referred to as N900 and also as N9000. What is the difference?

Samsung's previous naming convention would dictate otherwise.
Every base model with Exynos would have all zeros with the others having a 2 or 5 that replaces one of the zeros. This is the same with all other high end devices from Samsung
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9000 with 3G connectivity
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9002 with dual SIM card support
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 N9005 with 3G & LTE connectivity.

If that's the case then all the results from when you Goggle Samsung N9000 are incorrect?

I believe N9000 is correct. N900 is/was probably a typo.

N900 is correct. I use one. On box, Samsung write N900. In software: N900. In Document: N900. N9000 is incorrect :victory:

Region Unlock Code From Samsung

If you are stuck with Note 3 Region Locked 4.4.2 where CF's RegionLock Away no longer works , you can try sending an E Mail to Samsung Germany / Samsung Austria for an unlock code to totally unlock your Europe region locked note 3....I have a Note 3 N9005...I got it with 4.4.2 installed so I couldn't install CF's RegionLock Away app because as you know the app doesn't work with 4.4.2...From the last few days I was searching like hell how to unlock my Note 3 so that I can use the phone in my home country India...Hundreds of XDA threads & several Google searches didn't yield any positive results...I didn't want to pay for the 3rd party unlock services because many people in this forums have mentioned that , even after paying for an unlock service , their phones still didn't get unlocked...
So, what i did was , I sent almost 10 E Mails to different European Samsung customer care department like Samsung Romania , Samsung Austria , Samsung Germany , Samsung Slovakia etc...
Today I received an unlock code from Samsung Austria , Samsung Romania & also from Samsung Germany...I know it's only one single code but i didn't want to wait for a long time to unlock my N9005...So, I contacted almost 10 Samsung European country's customer care departments...And today I received the unlock code from the above 3 mentioned Samsung customer care depts...
So, no need to pay for an unlock code...If you have a Europe region locked Note 3 , just send emails to Samsung Germany & Samsung Austria & you will get your unlock code within just 4-6 days...
I'm really happy that my N9005 is fully unlocked now...
Thanks for reading...
EDIT :- Since there are huge number of messages coming in asking for the unlock req to Samsung, I have decided to post the format of the letter here in this thread..
So, read this post of mine here please :- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56425244&postcount=75

If you can use your local SIM card with your N9005, then your Note 3 is already unlocked...I don't have clear idea why you can't use 4G...If your network provider provides you 4G LTE signal & you don't know how to connect to an LTE signal in your N9005 or if the LTE doesn't work , try changing the network mode to 4G ONLY using a software called " Advanced Signal Status " from Google playstore...

Try downloading " Advanced Signal Status " from Google playstore..Then use the app to change the network to 2G only & see if that works...If it doesn't work , then try contacting your local Samsung service center or send an E Mail to your country's Samsung customer care from here :- http://www.samsung.com/pk/support/erms3

If your phone is not under warranty , then Samsung care will still help you but it will not be free of cost...They will charge you for it but if the problem troubling you too much , then i would suggest you to take your phone to a local service center in Pakistan & they will service it for you for a price...Now, how much they will charge you that i can't say for sure but they should be able to repair it...

Problem with IMEI and signal

Hello I bought an used ATT Note4 unlocked and I use it with TMobile. I have two problems maybe related. I have very low signal and the phone dont connect in my home and my previous phones didnt have that problem. In works in other places but you know it disconnects inside buildings and low signal areas. I was thinking in flash a TMobile modem and I think its not possible. The other problem is the IMEi that shows in settings is not the same as the sticker behind the battery so something has be done to the phone. Its possible to fix the IMEI to the real one?
Thanks a lot.

The IMEI is the digital serial number of your device - It can NOT be changed (legally) - Did you purchase the phone from a reputable source? If you did return it.

I dont know if it is reputable but it is a store that sells new and used phones. Its illegal to change original IMEi what I like to do is change it to the real IMEI and make it legal.

it's possible that the case has been changed and the sticker that you see is from another device - You CAN'T legally change the IMEI - It's just like it's illegal to change the serial number on a vehicle!
Are you certain that the device was not stolen?

Question about Dual IMEI

Hey Community,
I have Samsung SM-G935F with one Sim IMEI , its possible make new IMEI (Dual Sim) ?
if thats work maybe can get SM-G935F -> SM-G935FD for Dual Sim , work nice if somebody cracked that :victory:
sorry no, imei is a hardware issue not software. currently you can not make a SM-G935F into a SM-G935FD, there a thread discussing the reasons why.

that is how your provider identifies the phone, it is burned into the eprom chip as which cannot be accessed by users. there have been cases where some roms have changed the imei to generic but that causes the provider not to recognize the phone.
Your imei is broadcast to the cell towers when you turn on the phone and when you make calls.
