Weird problem in the browser and stock video player, please help. - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have the Note 3 9005 version and in the stock browser I have the option for full screen ticked. But when I scroll down the page the address bar doesn't disappear, so no true full screen mode. The status bar is hidden though.
Also in the stock video player when I touch the screen to bring up the controls, it doesn't auto hide after a few seconds like it should and doesn't disappear even when I tap the middle of the screen. I have to press the rotate button to change the orientation and then once again to go back to landscape mode.
Could these 2 issues be related? Any solutions will be appreciated.

I have the same problem with the video player. Only workaround is to rotate it portrait then back to landscape, controls disappear ...

Do you have the browser problem too? The address bar doesn't auto hide on mine like it should.
Anyone else facing these issues? Possible fix?

Yup, just tested. Address bar stays on persistent even though full screen option checked under browser settings ....
Though this one isnt as irritating as the video playback due to the large screen..
Any fix or workaround ?
Did the rotate workaround work for you as well for the video playback ?

Edit: wrong thread sorry.

Yep, that's the only way to rotate the screen for me too.
So can we assume the browser and the video player issues are linked?
Even though it's a large screen i still wanna utilise all of it...

Anyone else with this problem? I'm so used to full screen browsing on my note 2 but I can't get it to work on the note 3.
Are there any other browsers that have a proper full screen mode?

i am having this problem. on android 4.3. when in video playback, the controls doesn't auto hide. i have to rotate the screen in order to do so.... maybe there is a bug? or a bad program that affects this?

Full screen browser is only meant to hide the status bar. It says so in the settings!

Video Orientation issue

Hi guys
I have searched and not seen this issue much and no fixes for it.
I recently shot some video with my S4, when I try and play it back the orientation is flipped. I shot the video in landscape but when I play it back, it flips it portrait so you kinda have to tilt your head to watch it.
Has anybody come across this before, better yet, anybody know how to remedy this?? It's driving me nuts.
By the way, phone is still standard, not yet even rooted.
Thanks for any suggestions...
Which application are you using to play your recorded videos?
Have you switched on auto Screen Rotation?
If i switched off Screen Rotation, the recoded videos(landscape) plays back in portrait on stock video player. You can turn the video to landscape by pressing the rotate icon on top right hand corner of the app.
If i have Screen Rotation on, the video app will automatically start in landscape mode.

I'm using the std video app, I have now turned off auto rotation and I can indeed switch to landscape. Any idea why it records in the wrong orientation in the first place, maybe auto rotation enabled is the cause??
Thanks for your help mate.
Its recorded wrong in the first place because Auto Rotation was off. Switch on auto rotation before recording.

[Q] auto hide progress bar in video

This seems like a very dumb question, but I can't figure out how to hide the progress bar while playing any local video using the included (stock) Samsung video player app.
I'm rooted, but stock (except for the hotspot mod)
Navigate to gallery, and tap on any video that is stored locally on my sd card (or on internal storage). If I don't touch the screen, everything is fine - video plays beautifully. If I tap on the screen to pause the video, or to drag the slider back/forward (to rewind/fast forward), the progress bar (I think that is what it is called) comes up, and works perfectly. When I un-pause it (or am done rewinding/forwarding), the progress bar doesn't auto-hide (even after a minute or two).
If I change screen orientation (landscape to portrait, or vice versa), the progress bar goes away - but it is kinda stupid to have to do that just to make the progress bar go away.
I checked the settings, and don't see an option to make it auto-hide after 'x' seconds. I can't drag that progress bar down or do anything with it. I find it hard to believe that this is normal behavior (and that nobody else has complained about it), so I hope I'm overlooking something simple.
Bump - anyone?
I have exactly the same problem! I looked on youtube and notice all you have to do is tap the screen and the progress should hide, but it doesn't do it on my phone!
Have you noticed the same thing with the photo gallery also? I mean, the top bar where you can do edits and the bottom where you can scroll to see other pictures...I just can't seem to get rid or hide them!
Any thoughts anyone?

Now that you mention it, yes, I have the same thing on the photo gallery. I hope this is not "normal" behavior...
Interesting, I'm trying all sorts of things, like restarting, uninstalling some apps and such...I don't seem to be able to find the solution!
any other ideas? Its frustrating how I have to rotate and then rotate it back again in video mode to get rid of the progress bar...it just looks silly.
Everyone else Galaxies: they just tap the screen and everything just hides...even in the photo gallery. If you find out anything, please let me know...and I shall do the same

Are you on MF9? (that is the latest update, and that fixed the issue for me)
Edit: You can always install the photosphere camera apk (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2340858), and that installs the google gallery app (and video player) along with it. That can play videos and display albums without the annoying progress bar blocking the view.

Issues with YouTube since Kitkat update?

Hey gang. I've noticed a weird issue with my YouTube app since the update. I've attached screenshots for reference. Basically when I start to play a video in portrait mode is fine, when I go to landscape mode something happens and there is an overlay over the screen with some weird icon (RSS Feed?). It makes the screen very dark in the video area. Then when I go back into portrait mode it's still there. Then subsequent videos have the overlay whether in portrait or landscape. I have to exit the app and restart it to fix it. But if I put the app into landscape it happens every time. Never had this before the 4.4 update. Completely stock with ART enabled. Thanks for any input or advice.

Figured it out. It's a known bug that affects the new YouTube app. When you turn on bluetooth even if YouTube it off this overlay appears. The only way to fix it is to turn out blue tooth and reboot.

actually that's the first thing i did.but it doesn't fix the problem. it only hides the android notification bar, but not the address bar.
Hmm interesting, mine hides the Address bar also.
EDIT: Doesn't FireFox or Opera offer full screen mode? - I have FF but haven't used it for a while

yes I want that, but mine always displays the address bar. let me see if restarting the phone fixes the issue.
edit: nope, restarting didn't fix it. it still shows the address bar. I have tried Chrome, Firefox. I didn't try Opera, let me try that.
It may work, I've noticed with Samsung devices a reboot tends to fix a lot of things that randomly stop working. - Could also vary on which FW you are running also. I use MJ7 and it seems my options vary to some others who also run it which is weird.

yes I also have MJ7.
just like I mentioned above, I did restart the phone but it didn't fix the issue. fullscreen for my browser only means the android bar isn't visible (but the address bar, the one in which you type the URL remains visible).
so I tried other browsers, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Opera Beta.
so far the best results were with Web Browser (Maxthon) which can also hide the address bar, but instead it displays a circle button that doesn't go away. the Note 2's browser was best for what I'm looking for, since it displayed absolutely nothing in fullscreen. no notification bar, no address bar, no nothing, only the webpage. isn't there a way to install Note2's browser on Note 3?

Could always try and find the .apk for the Note 2's browser, would probably have to mess with the current browsers .apk also to disable it. Or extract it from your current Note 2 maybe? --- Not sure why yours won't show full screen though, bit strange.

Youtube crop to fit button appears on homescreen

As the title suggests, the YouTube crop to fit button appears on the screen of I tap anywhere on the screen and disappears of I two the screen again. Same behavior as inside the YouTube app, only on the homescreen.
If I delete data from the YouTube app this goes away, but after awhile it reappears.
Anyone have any idea on how to fix this? http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5917720c1f69e/Screenshot_20170513-234902.png?
