Hey guys, currently on CM11 and was wondeirng if there is a way to get the samsung galaxy s4 suite apk that include things like s-beam, multi window, ir remote, and hand gestures
Nope that requires touchwiz frameworks
Sent from my SGH-L720 using Tapatalk
correct that's only touchwiz. Ir blaster works on AOSP and there is halo which is like multi window
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk
thanks guys for your response, what about hand gestures or is that touchwiz only as well
Yes, vanilla Android is vanilla. If you want the fancy features of you S4 you have to stick with Touchwiz.

As the title says, since the aosp side or development is booming for the GT-I9505 and also the touchwiz so whats for you aosp roms such as cyanogenmod rootbox carbonrom etc; or touchwiz like foxhound and omega?

I prefer to use TouchWiz but that's personal
I have always been an AOSP fan- it's fast.. really fast.. & lite.
But then again, being a busy student, I find TW's features very useful. The integration makes it easier. Although I do make sure to delete apks that are not useful to me like SHealth & etc.
So I choose TW

For me its aosp because of the customizations but like the camera on the touchwiz

I'm thinking about flashing a Google Play Edition ROM on to my S4 i9505 but I keep wondering if I'll miss any of the Samsung features if I do. Have you made the swap and did you miss any Touchwiz features?

I tested this GE ROM on my i9505 and I was really impressed. So smooth and real Android "feeling", what I missed was
SmartStay
S Planner Widget
Samsung Camera
Amount of shortcuts for settings
I know that some parts can be fixed with e.g. xposed framework and gravity. At least this annoying "unlock SIM card" bug was there.
Nevertheless the GE ROM is the better ROM in my eyes, finally I switched to CM 10.2 nightlies for testing.
Cheers
Please I want to ask if there is any rom for GT-I9595 that has aokp and samsung features like air gesture, smart stay etc?

None of the AOKP/AOSP/CM10 type roms have any of those Samsung features like air gesture, smartstay,
S Beam, Smartscreen, smartpause and many other features which make the phone so good.
One of the biggest things you will notice if you flash any aokp/aosp/cm10 type roms is the camera,
you will lose the full featured camera app which came with the phone and instead you will find
a different camera which is no where near as good as the original stock camera.
The camera which comes with these aosp/aokp/cm10 roms not only lack features but they look
like something home made, or something which is not finished yet compared to the stock camera.
What I would suggest is to flash a Samsung Galaxy S4 Touchwiz 4.2.2 based custom rom.
Any and all of those roms will have all the features lacking in aosp/aokp/cm10 type roms.
Why not try the " Omega v12 JB 4.2.2 " custom rom for your i9505 phone. It would be an excellent choice.
Good luck!

Running a Sprint SPH-L720 Galaxy S4
Carbon Rom 1/20/14 Nightly (Kit Kat 4.4.2)
I need to get my s-view working again with my windowed cover.
It worked on my stock MF9 Rom, but the software is not there in the Carbon Rom.
I have the s-view apk's from the net (i.e. Hatroid s-view) that use the proximity sensor for the effect, but they are not the same as the stock software that uses the magnet. Is this software proprietary to Samsung or is it available to us?
Any help would be appreciated, I have been looking for awhile with no luck.
From what I know you have to use a touchwiz ROM in order to use the sview properly with the magnet.

All s features are touchwiz only features!
Sent from my SCH-R970 using Tapatalk
OK, I did not know that. Im gonna have to look into that. Thanks
Any way to break apart touchwiz and get that feature working through an .apk if I'm on a custom room like Carbon? Is that available?
Sent from my SGH-L720 using xda app-developers app
Nope, it will only work with the TW framework and rom. If you want Samsung features you have to go back to Touchwiz.
Any idea why the magnet works then on other devices like my nexus 7 when running AOSP or CM roms, but not on the GS4?
Also, has anyone found an app that will just do the case turning the screen on and off without anything else? I don't want any of the other proximity stuff or notifications. I just want the screen to shut off when I close my case and turn on when I open it.
Thanks!

Hi all, I have been using the galaxy series since E4G and have used both stock based ROMs and AOSP based. I am currently on Sac's ROM 3 and have been curious about running AOSP on my gs4. So anyone that that has made the change to AOSP, did you miss any features only available to TW based ROMs? Like the stock camera? Or calendar app? I use Nova Launcher so I don't really care about the TW launcher.

I actually prefer the stock camera and calendar in aosp over tw.[emoji3] I'm a huge aosp fan and always used those type of roms. There are so many 3rd party apps out now for those who don't prefer aosp stock gapps..
jflte/LS 3.1/Pokernel
The ## dialer diag features in ASOP ROMs is often missing, and perhaps was missing in every ASOP ROM evaluated to date.

I installed cm11 and the voicemail feature was missing, I prefer touchwiz due to more completeness but asop seems a bit quicker with less lag, you won't have the camera with touchwiz due to software optimization.
Check these pictures out. I took them using aosp camera that's in PA gapps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2758046 To me its just as good as tw cam. If you use Banks's gapps gives you the Google cam with photosphere and other cool effects.. Then there are tons of apps that can tweak different things..

My guess is just daylight. I've had AOSP camera take pics as good as touchwiz but ONLY outside during the day. Indoors with florescent lights or at night never came out as good.
