Is it easy to replace a battery? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just wondering how difficult it will be to replace a battery in the future of my G2? If it requires soldering or is to difficult to replace at home does LG offer any kind of service for this?
Sent from my LG-D803 using Tapatalk

It is under multiple layers of stuff and heavily glued down.. LG would not offer it but maybe some other service would if the G2 is popular enough to be supported.

I saw in another thread a guy who said he removed it by just squeezing his nail and pulling it out. I can't remember what post, but it was about using steel wool grade 0000 to remove the glossy back. Try using that on the search.
Sent from my LG-G2 using xda app-developers app

Yeah but he meant the cover. The battery is way harder to remove.

When the guy showed the phone without the case, the battery was right there...
Ill try to find the pics again to try and see if theres anything blocking it...
EDIT: Found it..

Doesnt look that complicated to exchange it, tho...

What you see in the photo is just the top 'step' of the battery. LG's new battery design flares out under the plastic.

Wow I wish it was easier then that. Hopefully something LG does makes a battery service possible. I hate to think that my phone will become a paperweight do to a dead battery in 5 years. I'd like to keep this phone as a digital music player.

Gap between top bezel and glass

Is this the way the phone is supposed to be? There's a small gap between the top part of the bezel where it meets the glass. I try to keep my phone clean all the time but there are quite a few lint pieces and grime stuck in that gap. The bottom of the phone is tight. Never dropped it. It is an RMA

I think you can snap it back. Press it gently and it'll close.

Tried pressing on it. Didn't work. Thanks though

As you can see the bottom is tight with no gap. The top has a big enough gap for dirt and debris and no way to get it out.

Definitely not normal, you should probably RMA again if you can't fix it by simple means like the one posted above

I have no gap on the top or bottom, and neither do any of the 5 others I know with N4s so yeah, RMA.
send that gaping gap back, son!
...before you get tiny creature eggs in them
Called google play customer service and started the RMA process. Thanks guys

Not going well with my RMA. This was customer service response :
"Thanks for contacting Google. The*specialists*has informed me that the*gaps are to allow for expansion of the glass due to varying temperature and is an intended part of the design.
If you have any*further*questions please feel free to*respond*to this email."
Can some of you guys take some photos of your phones so I can send this robot? Any other suggestions?

Dude, I think even with photos, you would be hard pressed to change their mind. Cosmetic faults are always put down as subjective and not worthy of replacement. You should have told them that you were experiencing some technical fault i.e. frequent dropped calls.
If you aren't successful this time round, RMA it again with such an excuse...

I have the same issue but my gaps are much bigger and go throughout the whole screen. Dust and stuff goes in it. The front camera has a dark overlay whenever i use it due to all the dust that has gotten in there. I would RMA it but i bought it off a friend and im not sure if they want to accept it.
Here is a picture of a white door that i took outside using the front camera.

Its very dark and it has a weird dark overlay at the top.

[Q] Will Google RMA if screen was replaced?

I replaced my screen. And now I am experiencing problems with battery life, and in need of an RMA. My question is how closely does Google look at the device that are shipped back, will they notice that the screen was replaced? I also forgot to put back the blue tab that was connecting the battery and holding the antenna down in place. Will they take the phone apart and find out I had disasebmled it? Also there is a small gap at the bottom between the bezel and the left screw. I think its due to one of the clips not connecting correctly. I could probably fix all those things but I lost my T6 screw driver, so should I worry about any of those things?

Not sure how picky Google is, but I sent a MyTouch slide into T-Mobile with the screen replaced, they noticed. I have no idea how, I put it all back together. I also recently sent my Nexus 4 in to Asurion for a replacement, the screen went wacky and I opened it to see if it was a loose connection. They didn't notice that.
Honestly you won't know until you try.

Touch Screen Issues!

Is anyone having issues with the LG G2 touch screen.
The things I'm noticing is
guesture typing it loses it's trail and begins a new word. So if I'm trying to spell "Think," it'll get the "TH" then space it out and get some other string of letters etc.
Web Browsing; it'll click a link I'm not trying to
Zooming in on photos and scrolling while it's zoomed it'll sparatically zoom out or move to the next pic
There's several other things that I can't seem to get to replicate! Anyway with my research here's what I came up with.
My issue is much like this but far less easy to replicate!!! And not nearly as bad. How ever I was able to do it when my phone started having symptoms I pulled up the note pad and it did exactly like this just way less significant.

Here's another forum with people going through issues!
I'll take that as a no
I was having issues like that with gesture typing on both swift and stock keyboards. Basically it would just add all kinds of random entries. In another thread someone suggested using a microfiber cloth on the screen. It seems to be working now.

Just noticed that mine does the same thing... But it's not consistent, only happens once in a while. After I reboot it's fine. Really weird.
I posted earlier, looks like it didn't make it up. I had same issue, I tried flashing back to stock, assuming I had done something with rooting it, tried making sure that it was not an issue with ram bring to low, nothing fixed it. Took phone back to att, replaced it, havent had the issue once since then. I'm rooted, flashed and modded work no I'll effects. If you are within your return period, I would suggest that you return.

I made a video to help illustrate what's going on!
Well I got a replacement phone and the problem is still happening. So I went into the shed grabbed my old Cyanogenmod MyTouch 3G and I plan to use that until the Nexus 5 comes out. Hopefully I'll get a launch unit.
Just holding this little phone makes me feel all nostalgic lol. I bought it in 2009 and it still holds a decent charge.
Sent from my LG-D801 using Tapatalk 4
Are you just going to wait until the nexus 5 comes out and then take your g2 back, tell them that this is the second one that has done this, and demand they replace it with the "newer g2" ie Nexus 5? I thought about this!
I'm hoping this is a software issue..mine is really annoying

Back letters falling off

I'm just curious, has anyone ever gotten their Nexus letters at the back removed, as in the shiny black vinyl that covers them? The letters N, E and X were completely peeled off in my case in a matter of weeks when I was holding it, along with the adhesive.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Nope, but I've had a case on it since day 1...
Odd. Hasn't happened to me. (Happened to every BlackBerry Curve 8520 I had, though. Damn, that phone sucked.)
Wonder if it's affected by how you hold it. Definitely return it anyway.
Wait, I didn't even know that could happen, I though they were like part of the plastic.
You got a picture of it?
Do you have a wireless charger?
I have one and I have noticed that after charging it is kind of warm on the back and I have to wipe some kind of stain around some off the letters. Now that you mention your letters falling off it gets me
thinking that the glue could be melting away or something.
My N7 is only 7 weeks old and I'm using a Fatboy pillow for charging.

I had this same problem just a few days ago I noticed like a sticky residue seeping from the letters on the back and part of the letter lifting. I just removed all the sticker and cleaned away the sticky residue 'see attached pic' I actually prefer it without glued on sticky letters. Looks good I think.

Wireless charging here and my letters are falling off now also.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
I use the wireless charging feature as well - no issues, and it spends all night - every night - on the charger.
I didn't know that there was plastic in the letters to make it shiny. When mine finally fall out on their own, I think I'll get some model paint and paint the letters in white. Or maybe bright red. Just to be different.
Really? They fall? lol, I though they were pretty much part of the case :b

Wow I didn't even know this was possible. Makes me not want to use wireless charging if it's going to destroy the design of my device.

Yup, it looks like this. I was thinking about removing the rest so it looks uniform again the hollow letters do look nice, though. I don't own a wireless charger so I don't think that's the issue.

No wireless charging here either it's just glued on stickers that are losing stick over time as they heat and cool.
I'ts just like black tape.
Sure it looked cool glossy but doesnt bother me, I just picked out my letters with my nail and cleaned it up.
I like the 'indented' look nexus on the back.
What assembly dates do you have on yours? Perhaps they just changed to a less strong glue or even applied less glue due to the first batches problem of stains/glue residue.

Catastrophic failure 30 hours after purchase.

Screen went all wonky and virtually unusable. Rebooted it a few times and it never got better. I was going to factory reset it but this is what the factory recovery looks like which makes me think it is hardware related. Its been in an otterbox defender since purchase and I haven't had time to do anything that would brick it. I had installed nova launcher, widget locker, and my regular loadout of apps but nothing too fancy yet.
Just pulled it out of pocket and saw static. I guess its going back to Verizon tomorrow.
