Why is it so That there are so many roms based on touchwiz and not any other ui like ios7 or Huawei Or HTC
Why cant we open up And think of other ui's and not Samsung
Because I am feeling bored of using Samsung's ui

No one likes the Samsung's Touchwiz, but there is no need to make special ROMs for each UI. All you need is a base ROM and customize it the way you like it using Xposed and a custom ported or third-party launchers.
People used to make so many ROMs because they would be themed differently, with different features added here and there but that's pointless now since almost everything can be altered and changed on your own in the stock based ROMs.
All AOSP/CM based ROMs support themes that cover framework, systemUI, player, icons everything into Huawei, HTC and several other custom UIs. Features differ in AOSP ROMs and therefore there are several ones already available and constantly improved.
Asking devs to provide themed ROMs at this point is like saying I'm too lazy to do it on my own so please do it for me, but of course, that's just my personal opinion.

I am seriously thinking of starting a campaign here on xda against themed roms.
I won't start blaming anyone or calling out names, but themeing a rom is a bad thing.
Here is why:
1. Generally, miui and sense are well built and nicely designed.
2. Customizing a rom is personalizing it to your taste and your needs (modified apk's with graphics or color change )
3. Generally, the customizations are a cheesy combination of fonts and colors that really don't go that well together and imho sometimes even present usability issues (futuristic font that looks good bad at the size it is used in the UI) .
Currently, there are 3 scenarios:
1. Themed rom
2. Themed rom with an update package to revert to stock ( one that doesn't fully work )
3. Themed rom with an update package to revert to stock
What I would suggest, to keep the pleasure of customization is to include your customization as an update package rather than having the stock look be an update package.
If I will observe more people that think like me, I have a signature banner campaign in mind, that would link to this discussion.
ohh, you are so right

Yap.. you're 100 percent right..
It annoys me to always replace the skinned files with stock files.. so save me some time!
amen...........
Good call.

well, i agree with you. 99% of all themes are ruining the roms look. Like you allready said, sense and miui roms look very nice as stock, but they often get ruined by weird themes. BUT i dont think, you could force the devs not to theme their roms.
finally!
+1
totally agree
there are plenty of non themed roms.. if someone wants to make a themed rom and you dont like it, dont use it..
i personally use the bluetopia desire HD themed rom and i love it.

At the end of the day...YOU ARE GETTING THESE ROMS FOR FREE!!!!
Can you imagine if they charged you for a one-on-one service, where you discussed what you want etc and how you want it to look...as in called to his buiness or office and paid the going rate per hour!!!!!!!
hundreds of pounds or dollars etc!!!!
I reckon you should be EXTREMELY greatful that u ain't stuck with windows mobile, coz if you were, i can guarantee, you'd be saying, or begging......
......"oh, please devs, please come back, i don't care if it's pink blue or Adolf Hitler Icons everywhere, pleasseeee, i need my android on my HD2"
Simple - if you don't like a theme, GO USE SOMEBODY ELSES ROM.
OR
Even better, LEARN how to make your own ROMS...should only take you a few years of hard graft - maybe then you could appreciate the hard bloody work Devs put in here.
GEEZ - what a cheek whinging about themes etc...LOL

That's exactly why customisations should be optional.
It's enough to read the threads of customised rom to find out that there are plenty of people
that are put in the position of choosing between the rom they like with enforced customizations and other stock roms that aren't that well made.
Having the visual tweaks as an optional pack, will attract more users and generate mor revenue in the end. It's that simple.

What revenue you were talking about?
Just keep in mind that those roms with heavy theme and customization are personal roms, well, they most are personal rom, they are modified to their taste and just want to share with us, if you dont like it, just ignore and move on....
On the other hand if you thinking of starting a campaign against big @ss signature, sign me in, my fingers work twice as hard to see the next post because of that...

It looks like we'll now be getting that beautiful vanilla ICS experience with our stock Roms.
Great news IMO.
Wohoo. Great news!

Really really good news! Probably the best news ever for the Android platform. Manufacturer skinning has ruined the Android experience and has drew away users that like a more universal UI like the iOS devices have.

Well, Not really...its just for app development. We will see TW based ICS for sure.

I'm assuming that the theme will apply to aspects of the phone such as menu's, overlays, notifications etc. Now if we install the stock ICS launcher, the rest of UI will be uniform.
Yeah think you got the wrong end of the stick with this one but the theme is nice. Vendor skinning will always be around but we will likely keep the backgrounds to settings etc that will keep consistency.
After reading more into this I realize its not as important as I assumed.

Looks like I got over excited. At the very least it'll mean that in time apps will be more consistant.

we might still have a touchwized ICS.. but its not a bad thing..
all things vanilla goes to cyanogenmod 9
The only thing this means is that application developers can be confident that there will be the default theme accessible on the device. That means their layouts and graphics won't be broken because of manufacturer skins. Read the original article.

It definitely isn't the "end of vendor skinning", but I wonder if it will make skinning vendor skins to AOSP easier.
I guess it depends on to what extent the theme will be included inside the OS.

What is the Difference between an AOSP experience ROM and a NO AOSP ROM?
Also what is the difference between the : Android Develoment Forum and the ORIGINAL FORUM?
Hey
AOSP ROMs are Android Open Source Project Roms, so they don't have any of the HTC Sense, Touchwiz, Motoblur bullcrap (IMO) on them and are pretty much a pure google experience e.g similair to the stock firmware on a galaxy nexus/nexus 7 but most are tweaked e.g CM gives you additional mods and things
And for the second question. I think this post explains it better than i can

Asus didn't add anything significant to the Nexus 7. They add a few apps to their transformer series tablets and tweak the UI a little, but it's pretty close to stock as well when comparing to what Samsung and HTC do. I will only buy Asus or Nexus brand in the future because of this.
Tbh im just going for google only phones even if asus is close to vanilla from now on, don't care about how vanilla it is because most popular phones have atleast Cyanagonmod ROMS for that but I just want fast updates, good dev community and easy unlocking unlike s-off and all this other crap which is a pain in the ass

well, there are multiple ways you can do ROMS:
1. "I downloaded source from google.com and just hit compile without any changes whatsoever (aside from whatever was needed to get it working, like drivers etc)."
2. "Long time ago I had downloaded from google.com, but since then i have added MANY MANY of my own cool changes (like `long press volume to skip to next song'), of course I make sure i pull in whatever latest changes google made to their source too"
3. "there were 2 or 3 ROMs from the above 2 that i liked and i combined them"
#1 is `AOSP',
#2 is `NO AOSP', the person making these "drastic changes" can be HTC (in the case of senseui) or just some dude/team of dudes (in the case of CyanogenMod). This is basically `original work', in the sense that, aside from google's source which i obviously must have taken from, a lot of the stuff is my own. CyanogenMod for instance has immense amount of changes, not sure how it works, but just consider that JB for CyanogenMod is not even beta yet, even though google has stable JB obviously. Meaning their changes are so immense that they had to start from scratch and do all the cool changes to the new JB source (or smthg to that effect).
#3 is regular 'non original' roms, since there is very little 'originality' in these roms. CAn be anything from "All im doing is compiling CM10 and putting it up, although im not officially CM" to "I just added some cool stuff from CM to AOSP and compiled it".

I'm unsure as to the line between #2 and #3 ofc, it can get a little confusing/fuzzy at times.
I'm not sure what they are yet as I'm still downloading the zip. Maybe a way to add the framework support into AOSP?

Hopefully a way to implement the Sense Camera and Dialer into AOSP. That would be really awesome, if I could use those two in AOSP, I would switch immediately.

Well, the Sense stuff requires Sense, it's a choice between Sense and AOSP, really. You'd be better off de-Sensing a Sense ROM than hoping for Sense stuff on AOSP.
These have been available for almost week now

Yes, I heard it was available on day 2 after the kernel code was released. I don't think anyone has looked into using it/implementing it yet though. I knew the kernel source dropped but I did not see this until today and I'm sure there are many people who didn't know it was even posted.

I fully understand what you're saying, but these apps depend on the Sense framework, so that's why something like this gives hope.
Porting such stuff was always (almost) impossible, meaning you had to choose between the latest Android and Sense. When, on the long run, the One isn't supported anymore, you are stuck, since de-Sensing a ROM that isn't there is impossible. Maybe, and only maybe, with this framework files it is easier to port a couple of apps and include them in the latest AOSP.
For now I see it like this: HTC made these available, so they must have some reason. Might be because the Google Play Edition camera is not as good as the Sense one, which causes bad publicity, like the review on The Verge which gave a 4 for the camera. By providing these files, they maybe want to reach out to the community?
Forgive me for not knowing much on the development side of things, but if we can't find a way to port the Sense camera with this framework, what can we learn? And what would be required to see what the Sense camera requires to run on an AOSP ROM? Does this make it possible to port the Sense camera to at least the GE edition ROM? I know GE is different from AOSP, so I'm curious. The only reason I'm hesitant to stay on a stock android ROM is because of the camera.
a humble request to all the developers of g2 community to please develop or mod a ios themed rom for our g2.there is lack of themed roms for our g2 so please give it a shot.i am not demanding just request for a ios themed rom.please..anyone?
I personally hate ios so I prefer that there are not ios themed roms........

If you want IOS themed rom then I suggest to download MIUI and download an IOS theme. As miui is really the best rom you want for that.
i have tried every theming option..but i was looking for rom like this for our g2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2685937
so if anyone has spare time then please give it a try

Well I still suggest MIUI with IOS theme as it will look much better then the rom you provided and it works alot smoother as the rom from that url is based on cm11 with some IOS lookalike applications and with an IOS theme for cyanogenmod. So IF you really want that then I suggest you to download that and try to port the content of that rom to another cm11 rom from the G2. Idk about the resolution really of the rom you provided but yeah. I can already say to you that I am 100% sure that almost nobody will port this as we came to the G2 and other devices for the reason that we are android fans and most are also Anti-IOS.
Miui with ios theme.
and even without the ios theme, miui looks a lot like ios(its actually de hole point)
try it its an amazing rom, fast, stock features, great battery, great user interface(lg ui SUCKS!)
