Hello there,
I need a flashable Kernel [4.4 (KRT16S)] packed as a ZIP-file for usage with TWRP. ADB/Fastboot not working since USB seems to be corrupted.

Hi, catexecutive...
I was just about to post a possible solution... when I saw your thread title...[Nexus 7 Wi-Fi 2013] Need Kernel for 4.4 (KRT16S)
This forum is for the first generation Nexus 7 (2012), so you should really have posted your request somewhere here...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7-2013.
------------------------------
However, here is my slightly amended solution...
If you're rooted and you can boot Android normally, and you can find a way of getting the boot.img file (kernel) from KRT16S on to your Nexus 7(2013)... (I use cloud based services (eg., Dropbox, Google Drive) for transferring small files between device's).
Anyway, once the boot.img file is available on your N7 (2013), you can then use the flashify app to flash it directly.
Flashify...

Good luck and hope this helps.

Morning peeps, iv recently got myself a Nexus 7 32gb (Wifi model) currently running Android version 4.1.2, build JZ054K, however I have noticed that i dont have the ability to use multiple user accounts and some other functions that some of my friends do and iv seen that its because im not running on v 4.2 onwards, now, my device will not update to these latest versions (both 4.2.1 & 4.2.2) as every time i do it over the air i just get a failure with the andoid laying down with a red exclaimation mark over him, device restarts and im still on my old version. Iv tried a factory reset of the device etc but still will not update, iv also stopped the google services framework and run the update again, still no joy!
Iv read so many threads on so many sites about what the issues are etc and basically came to the conclusion that i firstly need to root my device, which iv successfully done using Wugfresh's 'Root Nexus toolkit 1.6.2' however im confused when it comes to manually updating my device to 4.2.2 so i have a couple of questions, apologies if these have probably been asked before but I have 2 newborns and really dont have the time to keep digging:
Firstly, where the hell do i find this 4.2.2 zip file as i cant seem to find a place to download it from at all? Also, i assume i copy and paste it somewhere in a directory whilst iv got my nexus hooked up to my laptop?
Also, do i need to update my device to 4.2.1 first then go to 4.2.2 afterwards?
Many thanks for any assistance
Just flash the factory image for 4.2.2. Search on Google for it, download the factory image, extract the .zip and run the flash-all.bat ( Windows) or flash-all.sh (Linux)
Sent from my Nexus 7 running Android 4.2.2
are there any trustworthy sources out there for this image?
iv found one, assume its correct for my particular build: on developers.google.com
Factory Images "nakasig" for Nexus 7 (GSM/HSPA+)
Version Download MD5 Checksum SHA-1 Checksum
4.2.2 (JDQ39) Link ee8db1ed6ff1c007fe12136d4bc65cd8 0798439d363beb145d9223a42ed9edf3de1a30f4

If you have a wifi device, it's not the good factory image you've found. You must download and flash a factory image for wifi model only.

See this, it's developers.google.com. Choose the one for grouper nakasi for the wifi only device (not nakasig). Download it and flash it using the flash-all.bat
It's official by google
Here is the diret download link for grouper nakasi (wifi only) :good:
Hello all, this is a request for a build.prop file. I recently got the Android L OTA update on my Nexus 7 2013 WiFi. The update downloaded as normal, however when it tries to install I get the message:
Verifying current system...
"/system/build.prop" has unexpected contents.
My tablet is rooted, however I have never (intentionally, at least) modified my build.prop, and so I have no backup of it. Please could someone help me out and give me a copy of their build.prop.
I'm from the UK (IDK if that makes a difference). The Build Number is KTU84P.
Thanks,
Milo Pig
- you are in the wrong subforum. this is the Nexus 7 2012 section. you want to ask your request in the 2013 section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7-2013/nexus-7-2013-qa
- if you don't get the file there here's a suggestion:
download the stock KTU84P 4.4.4 firmware for your Nexus 7 2013 (razor) from Google: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
extract the files. inside you'll find the stock system.img file. get your N7 in bootloader mode, then flash the stock system.img
this will restore your system partition to stock and should allow you to take the OTA. you'll lose root but you're gonna lose that anyway when you update to Lollipop, and you can easily get it back afterwards.
I assume you know the steps needed for all this. if not you can look through the general or help sections of the 2013 subforum I'm sure there are guide threads there.
Hey Guys,
I had CWM installed on my nakaski since forever and used it to flash KK/PA before switching to Official Stock Lollipop which I'm currently on. I'm getting good performance for now and really not looking forward for any custom kernel or L based ROM.
But I'm definitely looking to root my N7, which I've read is not as simple as flashing the 'Update-SuperSU.zip' in custom recovery due to some kernel limitations on SELinux resulting in bootloops.
So right now, I'm wondering what should I do to root the thing, I can see the two options:
1. Flash a custom kernel which supports root and then flash the SuperSU zip in recovery.
2. Wait for CF to make the 'zygote' service method stable in the 2.27B build and flash on stock recovery.
I'm really looking to avoid bootloops at all if possible. I don't have the stock Lollipop image on me anymore and I'm stuck on a slow internet connection.
Can anyone suggest me what should I do?
If you think custom kernel is the way to go, please give a link to the thread of the custom kernel for stock L. (franco seems to be stuck on KK, right?)
PS: Can anyone give me a working mirror to TWRP based recovery for grouper. Their web portal seems down.

Hi, amangupta53...
You're correct in that rooting lollipop is no longer just a simple matter of flashing a root update package via TWRP or CWM...
A modified kernel (boot.img) also need's to be flashed as well.
---
Probably the easiest way of 'pushing' the usual files, (su binary & SuperSU app) AND flashing a modified root compliant kernel/boot.img... all at the same time, and conveniently... is via Chainfire's CF-Auto-Root method.
This is the method I've used to root both my Nexus 7 and my Nexus 9, both running Lollipop.
---
Download to your PC, the CF-Auto-Root-grouper-nakasi-nexus7.zip from Chainfire..
Unzip it to some folder location on your computer/PC.
Boot the Nexus 7 into it's bootloader... and USB connect it to your PC.
Inside the folder containing the CF-Auto-Root file's you've just unzipped... run the CF-Auto-Root script appropriate to your PC... one of these, root-windows.bat, root-linux.sh or root-mac.sh.
---
If your Nexus 7's bootloader is NOT already unlocked, it will unlock it... AND IT WILL WIPE EVERYTHING ON THE DEVICE, essentially performing a factory reset... so, do be careful, and ensure you have everything that matters backed up elsewhere before you begin.
---
Once completed, reboot your Nexus 7, and you should be rooted.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

Thanks Ged.
Seems like I missed CF-Auto Root Method in my list. But I guess it's essentially the automated format of option 1 I listed above. I've already switched to SlimROM 0.8 F2FS which included the M-Kernel and thus easy to root. (A friend pointed it out to me, I took the plunge for F2FS)
Thanks again for the detailed solution. I'm sure it'll be useful for anyone looking to root Stock Lollipop with Stock Kernel.
Cheers!
Hey guys finally gotten around to installing a ROM on my 6P and I keep reading about flashing a vendor zip. I did a Google search but didn't find what this file is for. Was wondering if someone would be kind enough to explain it.
Not my first time flashing Roms to a device but I never had to flash vendor files prior to the 6P.
Thanks in advance
I had the same question, and found the answer in the Pure Nexus ROM FAQs...
nathanchance said:
3.4 Q: What is the vendor.img/vendor.zip? (5X and 6P only)
3.4 A: The vendor partition is new to Nexus phones with the 5X and 6P. Previous devices had the vendor files (proprietary binaries and drivers) within the system partition (/system/vendor); on these devices, they now have it in their own partition (/vendor). If this is not up to date, you will get an error message and need to flash the latest one so your phone continues to work properly. Beans has made this a TWRP flashable file available in the OP of the 5X and 6P threads (also linked below) so you do not have to fastboot it.

Great post.. Thanks sir.
Greetings to all,
Whilst following a guide to install LineageOS 17.1 on my nexus (I didn't relase mine is a 2012) I have inadvertantly deleted the Operating System so now it's caught in a "boot loop"
The options I still have are:
Start
Restart Bootloader
Recovery Mode
Power Off
Can anyone please advise how I re-install an Operating System from this point and which version of Android is the most recent/stable version suitable for the Nexus 7 (2012).
Many thanks in advance.
Scott
PS Why doesn't LineageOS 17.1 work on a 2012 Nexus?
Have you unlocked Bootloader?
Have you rooted it before attempting to install new OS?
Have you updated your recovery with TWRP 3.0.2.0 recovery?
Many thanks for the reply.
I'm now running TWRP 3.5.2-9.0 with Lineage 15.1 unfortunately
I'm getting an Error Code 70 preventing me from uploading Gapps.
I've tried resizing the system partition via TWRP without any joy.
Any advice please?

Unfortunately I never tried Lineage 15. I got 7.1 installed and I also had a problems with Gapps installation. The only package I was able to install was Pico with using config.txt file to limit number of apps to be installed. You can see post number 2 from the link bellow to get the idea what needs to be done. I guess you need to get or create similar config text file and include in same directory where your Gapps installation file is located. I also tried changing partition on my device, but it seems that this function does not work on Nexus 7.
