[build.prop Request] Nexus 7 2013 WiFi KTU84P - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all, this is a request for a build.prop file. I recently got the Android L OTA update on my Nexus 7 2013 WiFi. The update downloaded as normal, however when it tries to install I get the message:
Verifying current system...
"/system/build.prop" has unexpected contents.
My tablet is rooted, however I have never (intentionally, at least) modified my build.prop, and so I have no backup of it. Please could someone help me out and give me a copy of their build.prop.
I'm from the UK (IDK if that makes a difference). The Build Number is KTU84P.
Thanks,
Milo Pig

- you are in the wrong subforum. this is the Nexus 7 2012 section. you want to ask your request in the 2013 section here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-7-2013/nexus-7-2013-qa
- if you don't get the file there here's a suggestion:
download the stock KTU84P 4.4.4 firmware for your Nexus 7 2013 (razor) from Google: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
extract the files. inside you'll find the stock system.img file. get your N7 in bootloader mode, then flash the stock system.img
this will restore your system partition to stock and should allow you to take the OTA. you'll lose root but you're gonna lose that anyway when you update to Lollipop, and you can easily get it back afterwards.
I assume you know the steps needed for all this. if not you can look through the general or help sections of the 2013 subforum I'm sure there are guide threads there.

[Q] Noob Help, questions re. manual 4.2.2 update

Morning peeps, iv recently got myself a Nexus 7 32gb (Wifi model) currently running Android version 4.1.2, build JZ054K, however I have noticed that i dont have the ability to use multiple user accounts and some other functions that some of my friends do and iv seen that its because im not running on v 4.2 onwards, now, my device will not update to these latest versions (both 4.2.1 & 4.2.2) as every time i do it over the air i just get a failure with the andoid laying down with a red exclaimation mark over him, device restarts and im still on my old version. Iv tried a factory reset of the device etc but still will not update, iv also stopped the google services framework and run the update again, still no joy!
Iv read so many threads on so many sites about what the issues are etc and basically came to the conclusion that i firstly need to root my device, which iv successfully done using Wugfresh's 'Root Nexus toolkit 1.6.2' however im confused when it comes to manually updating my device to 4.2.2 so i have a couple of questions, apologies if these have probably been asked before but I have 2 newborns and really dont have the time to keep digging:
Firstly, where the hell do i find this 4.2.2 zip file as i cant seem to find a place to download it from at all? Also, i assume i copy and paste it somewhere in a directory whilst iv got my nexus hooked up to my laptop?
Also, do i need to update my device to 4.2.1 first then go to 4.2.2 afterwards?
Many thanks for any assistance
Just flash the factory image for 4.2.2. Search on Google for it, download the factory image, extract the .zip and run the flash-all.bat ( Windows) or flash-all.sh (Linux)
Sent from my Nexus 7 running Android 4.2.2
are there any trustworthy sources out there for this image?
iv found one, assume its correct for my particular build: on developers.google.com

If you have a wifi device, it's not the good factory image you've found. You must download and flash a factory image for wifi model only.

See this, it's developers.google.com. Choose the one for grouper nakasi for the wifi only device (not nakasig). Download it and flash it using the flash-all.bat
It's official by google
Here is the diret download link for grouper nakasi (wifi only) :good:

Stock N4 4.2.2 build.prop

Could somebody please send me the /system/build.prop from a stock 4.2.2 Nexus 4?
I can't install the 4.3 OTA zip unless my build.prop passes the integrity check that is built into the OTA...I modified mine to enable LTE with an LTE-enabling script that didn't make a backup. It's not clear what needs to be changed back and I'm pretty sure it needs to be exactly default for it to pass the check (i.e. spaces, order of the parameters, etc...needs to precisely as it was before...)
It would be much appreciated if somebody could please upload the build.prop somewhere.
I've attached the backup of my JDQ39 build.prop file in a zip to this post. I was able to flash the 4.3 OTA update using this build.prop so it should be fine.
For anyone else in the same boat (OTA failing because build.prop not passing check in install), the above build.prop worked for me. I don't have root and I'm still 1/2 n00b so I pushed it into /system/build.prop using the nexus toolkit and it's insecure boot image (choice 13). Then I rebooted into recovery and followed the normal instructions for using ADB sideload to install the OTA (section A here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145848)

[Q] Nothing happens while flash KitKat Factory Image

I have my Nexus 7 [2012] Wifi only model with Android version 4.3 (JWR66Y) Rooted and TWRP recovery installed. I want to upgrade it to version 4.4 (KRT16O).
I have tried Nexus Root Toolkit (NRT) v1.7.6 with Factory Images of Nexus Devices which is downloaded from Google servers using the option Stock + Unrooting. After some process, my Nexus 7 holds on the boot loader screen. But on the NRT, it shows like flashing done and wait for some time to complete the booting.
Even if I wait upto 30Mins, there is no changes on the nexus device screen. I have attached some screens for reference.
I'm also tried by using OTA update file. While verifying the system, it shows me a error like '/system/bin/app-process' have wrong contents - Status 7.
Someone please guide me.
Success!

Problem with file extension was identified and rectified. :victory: Because of my download manager, the actual file was downloaded as "nakasi-krt16o-factory-db4a1a8a.tar" instead of "nakasi-krt16o-factory-db4a1a8a.tgz".

[Q] Nexus 4 can't update to 4.4.3 OTA

I have a Nexus 4 with TWRP and root, I have 4.4.2 and want to get to 4.4.4. Unfortunately, I can't update to 4.4.3 OTA. It says the update downloads, I hit restart, and it fails in TWRP. When I reboot, it says I'm up to date for a couple hours and then says I have an update again.
I'm not sure if it's because I have a custom recovery or what but if I need to revert I'd need help with doing that since I did all this about a year ago and don't remember how I did it. I also vaguely remember deleting something in the cache to stop update available messages. I'm not sure if that's to blame, but I'm positive the updates are downloading at the very least. They're just failing to install.
I'm sure this has been answered a number of times but I'm having trouble navigating some of the topics.
Hey,
Download the stock nexus 4 factory image and flash only the system image through fastboot. This will revert your system partition to stock and it will allow the installation of the ota to continue without any loss of user data. You can wait for the next update prompt or you can just download the ota from the ota thread and flash it yourself through TWRP.

The update process usually goes through even if you have TWRP.
You can try flashing the stock recovery through fastboot.
Which is the stock Nexus 4 factory image? You mean what it launched with, or do you mean the factor 4.4.2 image since that's what I'm on? Also I'm not sure how to flash through fastboot at this point. Will that remove my custom loader or just remove my root?
You can get the latest factory image from here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Flashing only the recovery will not remove root. It'll only replace the custom recovery (loader).

You can follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/general/how-to-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2010312
Flash only the recovery (refer section D, sl no.12 in the above guide)

I don't believe the reason for your OTA failure is a custom recovery, it is most likely a modification to the system partition. You should extract the system partition image from the factory image and flash that through fastboot, which will remove your root but you can get that back by flashing the SuperSU zip. Then after restoring back to a stock /system partition, take your OTA like normal.

I'm not sure how to do what you just described. How do I extract a system partition image and how do I flash things through fastboot? Also what version of the system image? The one I'm on? The one it launched with? So what I want to do is flash a factory image, yes? I can't just do that through TWRP? I thank you guys for your help thus far but as to the specifics of what I need to do, I'm not finding much by searching, it all implies specific levels of knowledge that I don't have.
I appreciate the help thus far and going forward.

So, have you got your adb and fastbooot drivers set up?
Sent from my Nexus 4
I think so, yeah. Sorry for the delay in my posting but I'd really like to get this figured out in advance of 5.0 so I can, you know, use it.
So I mean, I'm willing to wipe everything, go back to stock, whatever I need to do to set myself up for getting all the OTAs all the way to 5.0. I just need a little bit of help with that ... I backed up all my stuff, so.
Why don't you just go ahead and flash android lollipop? Since you've already backed up all your data, you can start afresh.
1. Download the factory image from Google's developer site.
2. Extract the contents to the folder android/SDK/platform tools.
3. Connect your phone via USB, boot into bootloader and check if it is recognized by using a command prompt and using command fastboot devices, it should return a value.
4. Run the file flash-all.bat which you can find from the extract.
5. It'll take care of the rest and you'll be good to go.
But it'll wipe all data and bring it to an out of the box state.

Will that work? Don't I need to be on the latest build for that?
And by using "command fastboot devices" what exactly does that mean? What's the step-by-step once I get it all plugged in and all of that?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK6hYVuKNlw - This one works perfect just replace the file he tells you with
https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/occam-lrx21t-factory-51cee750.tgz < Factory 5.0
Hope this helps
Hit The Thanks if it did
I couldn't really figure out that video .. he was talking about installing APKs and stuff and I didn't know which file from the factory image I was supposed to use? So I extracted it into a directory with the fastboot stuff as per another guide, hit flash all and it said it all worked ... and it did! So ya'll got me started and I stumbled my way to the finish. THANKS SO MUCH!

[Q] Read the Sticky, still can't flash stock or lollipop kernels

I wonder whether there is help for someone who thought he knew how to flash a kernel but apparently is deluded. I have the original nexus seven Wi-Fi tablet android version 4.3 build number JWR66V. The system still wants to update me to 4.3 because I ripped some files out of the cache directory to prevent OTA updates. I have both fastboot and adb. I have read the stickies about flashing.
The phone is rooted and the bootloader is unlocked. I use TWRP custom recovery, and it's a good thing, because I solidly bricked myself up just trying to get my lollipop. I know there are tools to root a nexus seven even with stock lollipop, so I thought I'd upgrade my phone to stock lollipop and then use one of those methods. I tried both the stock lollipop kernel and the one provided by chain fire, which I understand is rooted already. (I'm assuming upgrading to lollipop will lose me my root, unless I want to recover back to 4.3.)
I tried to do these things a couple of different ways. When I tried fast boot, I got the message "error: neither -p product specified nor ANDROID_PRODUCT_OUT set". There was a YouTube video suggesting how to deal with this error message. I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions but no go. (I was using the "flash all" command.) This was after I had put the file containing lollipop in the directory, both zipped and unzipped (so that I had an .img file instead of a zip file). I tried using both the zip file with all of the lollipop partitions and the system image file individually. No go. I also had a message that android-info.txt could not be found, even though it was in the same, working directory.
I could be wrong but I don't think you can install a complete updated kernel from a file on the device. I think that works only with update.zip.
I'm still thinking fastboot is my best bet, but there are dependencies apparently and I don't know what files to include in its directory. Then, am I wise to go to stock and then root, or should I simply flash the stock kernel already rooted? I assume that's what chainfire is providing, correct?
I notice the lollipop official ROM nor Chainfire’s supposedly-rooted image have any file named nakasi. I have only .img files, no .zip files.
I found a dozen sets of instructions on how to flash a kernel but something I need is missing from all of them. Does anyone know what it is or can anyone offer some helpful advice?
Thank you,
Leon M.
