Its not as much as the websites but more about the seller. One good website is fastcardtech (Google it), or you can try e-bay. You can never be 100% sure especially if they are from china but at least with e-bay you have Paypal to cover your back .
I would suggest looking at some popular you-tubers as well to check how the phones are in real life. But I would rather buy from a proper shop with popular manufacturers. The moto g is pretty good and pretty good from the UK ~£100 or you can try a lumia windows phone. Just to let you know Chinese phones aren't fully supported or popular on xda.

Question about HTC Magic, is it genuine?

I have a question about an HTC Magic for sale on ebay.
Does this look genuine? The fact that it is coming from China has me a bit concerned as well as it seems to be selling cheaper than the others, but maybe you guys can tell me if you think its genuine or not?
The person said they are OEM phones. Sorry I can't include a link, but as a new user I am not allowed to just yet.
You have given pretty much zero information that somebody would need to help you. No link (you can't post hotlinks, but there are ways to obscure links), what the auction says, not even the sellers name.
Can't help you.

Unbeliveable - People selling "manuals" on ebay to flash HD2 to WP7

I just searched HD2 on ebay, and found THIS.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Windows-Phone-7...ell_Phones&hash=item35b0189863#ht_4192wt_1139
Unbelievable.
These people are selling MANUALS comprised of probably everything found on XDA on how to flash the HD2 to run Windows Phone 7.
Taking people's hard work on this forum, and selling it for a profit.
Omg .. over 300 Sold ?!
And $25 ?!
$25 x 300 = $7500 ?
Reported the seller
Edit:
7500 not 750
My bad .
Cool, may give that a go myself , right little earner
Seriously though, why do people keep making these topics? We know that people are selling the info on ebay, they are even selling a flashing service, its nothing new and has been happening for years.
The people who buy these services/product are generally the people who NEED to buy them because they cant use "search" buttons or google etc so simply dont have the mental capcity to use XDA or flash tehir phone and if somebody can earn some money while providing that service I say good on them, may do it myself (joke, have no need to).

that fella TheATHEiST has right.
Net is really huge place, (at lesst it is extremley huge virtual place, even it ficically might be small as one average appartement), and google has potential to give You informtation on any subject one might need. So if someone has no will, knowledge, patience, and again will to do it why not earn some money on that one.
All guys here are doing their best to make manuals, explaining flashing procedures, breewing their own tastes of winmo, android, or anything else. And there is smartass that do not wish to read these posts carefully, and do it on his own.
So be it, if he has enough money let the people do it for money. After all, do not we all live for money, and from money?

I totally disagree, people that are doing things such as this are takinv advantage of someone elses hard work. The Devs that make the ROMs, HSPL, and MAGLD put alot of hours of hard thought and sleepless nights into developing thrir software. If they are kind enough to do this and not demand payment from others to use their work yhen what gives anyone else the right to charge people to install it for them. Yes there is people out there that are too lazy or too mentaly challenged to use google, or search XDA. But people offering this kind of service is just a further henderance to them and XDA. By offering these services to people lile that it is allowing them to be complaciant and not learn to think for themselves. People in general now days do not know hpw to think for themselves cause society has taught them they don't have to someone else will. If people were required to actually use their on brain power we as a society will grow and people might actually see that the way the world is and operates is not as normal and needed as we all think. As far as money goes yes we all have to have money to live but this is a vice of our own making. Money is not a natural accurring thing, it is not a real resource. It at the core of degrodation of our society and us as a race.
I'm out of work and skint maybe i need to do something like this to get myself a few quid just joking id never do anything like that,eBay need to take this down ASAP.

you got your math wrong.... that guy has made more than $7500!!! I can't believe so many have sold for that much money!
ahum kuch kuch $7500
At this point he has sold 446 of them... most for $25. So he's made over $10,000 in less than a week, I think. Ridiculous. I wonder if he even donated to the devs.

Well, flashing service is fine, because you're lazy to do it yourself so you pay someone else to do the work for you.
There's other topics on this?
I didn't know.

Look dude that argument is totally rediculous and has nothing to do with the price of fish.
These guys are not sellling the "ROMS" if they was that would be different, What they are selling is a collection of knowledge and/or a service.
By your logic you couldnt provide support service or collection of knowledge for linux!!
This is basically exactly the same as going out and buying a book on linux or paying somebody to install/setup linux for you, Its 100% the same in EVERY aspect since all the info you need is freely available on the net already same as THIS is.
Again, Nobody is selling the Devs work they are selling a service or info. For example I have my own webhosting business renting/setting up dedicated servers but I am a n00b when it comes to linux so I pay other people to do it for me. I know I can get this info on the net for free but I cant be bothered and simply get somebody else to do it.
PS. Did you ever think that it could even be Devs that are doing some of these ebay sales??

Ok first of nobody said anything about fish, where did that come from?
Secound yes this is just the selling of a collection of information. But there is plenty others out there that are actually selling the ROMs. These sites have people ship their HD2 to them and install the ROM's for tbem, this is true with Android ROMs and WP7 ROMs. This doesn't take into account for the people that don't even have a website but are just local people that are charging people to do this. Not to long someone in the T-mobile forums posted about a guy that was doing it in Hawaii and charging like a hundred bucks a pop. So you see no matter if it is the selling of the info on how to do it or the selling of the Actually ROMs and installation services. This is a total fleecing of people. Best example is this, give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a liftime. If you learn it yourself and do the research yourself it is much more fullfilling.
As for your suggestion about my logic and it not being right to provide support for Linux. You totally miss uderstood my point. This is not what I am trying to say. What I am trying to say is that poeple have become too lazy and brain dead to do things for themselfs anymore. This is why people selling books and offering services do so well. I mean yeah it is easier let someone else do the work or gather the info for you but if you do these things yourself then you have a much better working knowledge and comprehention of it. That is one of the reasons for open source projects so everyone can benefit from it, gain knowledge from it, and maybe even help improve it. You youself said you are a noob to Linux and can't be bothered by it. If you did the research and work then you wouldn't have to pay someone to do it for you but yet you don't want to envest the time to do it. So this is a fault of your own. Now yes I know life is hecktic andit is sometimes hard to find the time to do such things but stop and think everyone always seems to find time to go to the moviesor watch a TV show. So you see if a persontruly wants something they will make time for it just as they make time to do other activities that want to do if it is truly important to them.
No I had not thought about it might be a dev selling these guides and stuff but to be honest if it was I truly beleive they would plainly state this fact to everyone. Cause this would help sell the product. So I truly doubt it is a dec.
Every time someone posts a link to these sales, they're just drumming up free advertising for the seller.
Don't like what he's doing? DO NOT LINK TO THE SALE.
Grats on putting money in his pocket.

people sending the HD2 to the person and getting it back flashed with WP7 or Android is selling a flashing service along with expertise, it is not selling the ROM, the only way this would be illegal or immoral is if they guy knew how to flash the ROM but did not know where the ROM was and someone said "I'll sell you the download link" or something like that, otherwise this is totally legit. Jailbreaking an iPhone takes 5 seconds in some cases and in most less than 10 minutes, yet people charge out the ass for it.
It is totally legit and I don't see any devs complaining about it, it's actually a smart way to make some spare change.

Ok guys I am sorry I am just the kind of person that does not like paying someone to do something I can do myself. I was taught as a mid growing up that knowledge is valuable and that a person that will put forth an effort to learn and do for themself is to be respected. I have always strived to learn things for myself and do things myself. Because of this I have become quit knowledgeable in several different fields including my career as a Electrician. I have learned how to fix my own cars, do repairs to my own house, bow to grow ny own food, generate my own electricity, how to mantain and for the most part solve software problems on my computer, and know I am learning all I can about the HD2 I have. You se I beleive in people being dependant as much as posible on themselves. But sadly this is not the case of our modern society.
Now as for it not being legit I still say no it is not because for them to even be able to gather the information on how to install Andriod or WP7 and then creat and sell a guide on it. the devs had to figure out how to do this and share this information for free with everyone else. Also to provide a installation service they have to utilize sofrtwarw such as HSPL and MAGLD both of wich were created by DFT. This software is not copy righted and is not sold. So in both cases they are selling something they put no real work into except for some reading and reasearch. If they had to perchase such softeare are information and then use such information and software to make money to me that wiuld be more exceptable. Also they are selling the ROMs cause without the ROMs they can not perform such services therefor the ROMs are part of the services that they are selling. Yes it is a good way to make some spare money but it is not moral to me, and they are doing more than making spare money they are making a killing.
If the devs or not complaining then I do not know why I can not speak for them. But if I was a dev I would be complaining and complaining big time.
It's not hard to rationalize this at all.
If people are dumb enough to ebay a manual on how to flash WP7/android onto their HD2, then they deserve to get ripped off for something they can do for free.
The only thing people can do is report the seller.
Went through some other products of his, he's selling the "software to unlock/jailbreak your iPhone". Hats off to him, he's a smart guy. Oh and he's made $12100 and counting.
Yeah I can not believe how much money he has made, it's amazing selling something so simple. And I agree with the post above comparing the sale to purchasing a manual on installing linux, the info is available for free but most people find it easier to read a how-to when going about it.

[Q] Phone unlocking

Hi again, it seems like a lot of people on here are looking for someone with an XTC clip,my question is this are any forum members doing phone unlocking/repair for a living or as a side line from their main job?
If so does anyone know how much it would cost to start up a basic unlocking /debranding and s-off service. How much hardware would you need to buy to cater for most of the popular brands of mobile phone.
I know ther are loads of shops offering these services but I am curious as to how people got started and how much differant gear you need to provide a good unlocking service
Thanks Nexus04

I had to laugh at this

I know its a sore subject around here. But thanks to a few of you, Dell appears to be close to making good a decent phone. We'll know by the end of the week.
In reviewing many of the threads here, especially the ones accusing Dell of fraud, Micheal Dell of being less than a man, and some basic Dell hates us stuff, I read a few lines by several people that mentioned every company and many phones go through this exact problem....of course, they were laughed off....some in anger...some in jest.
My time with the Venue Pro is almost over. 7 months with a single phone is a long time for me, and I've already purchased my next phone. I'll be looking for a Mango device near the end of the year....but in researching my new purchase I came across many of the things that were written here in the Venue Pro forum. I thought I would share one that just made me laugh.....this is for you Sparta....beware your next purchase...

" I think we all agree, T-Mobil knowingly sold product which they were fully aware was defective (whether the hardware or software). It's just NOTpossible this phone was released without them knowing about the problems. That said, I think they just crossed thier fingers, hoping we would not complaint too much; in the meantime they have made millions on us and when we complain they say "let them eat cake". Compare your experience with T-Mobil and a reputable department store; you walk into Best buy and say I just bought this and it does not work right.....ummm they giev you a new one, that works; think about it.

We're not alone.....the corporate world is evil.....

Need advice, considering to buy a Note 10.1

Hi! I'm about to buy a tablet next week. It's partly for my personal use, but also for educational use for my daughter (18 months now) and general use for my wife.
I've narrowed my choices down to this one and iPad 3.. I already own a Galaxy S2 and a Nexus S, and enjoy Android a lot, but what my concern is, and my reason for considering the iPad 3 is that I'm not sure how good the app market is for tablets.. I've never had a chance to play with one except from in the store, and they dont have it enabled for accessing the Play Store..
Hardware-wise, although the iPad has a better screen, I find the Note to be more impressive.. And the 4:3 format on the iPad is not very appealing to me.. The extra resolution on the iPad might make it great for e-books, but watching a movie or playing with apps might not make much of a difference between the two.. the movies will be limited to 720p anyway as it's more than good enough on a 10 inch screen.. I'm not big on e-books so I will probably never read a book on it.
Software-wise, I hate iTunes so obviously the Note has the advantage here as it doesnt require any software on the computer.. I'm not gonna enter into an iOS vs Android discussion here, so lets just conclude that both iOS and Android are good OS's that are capable of doing what I require from them.
And then finally we come to the point where I'm stuck and makes it hard to choose: APPS..
How good is the app-market on android for tablets? which has the best app market for tablets? The iPad or the Note?
Is there any good educational apps for kids available on Play Store? Does any of these make use of the S Pen?
Does the S Pen have any good apps available in the Play Store, on top of the ones that come preloaded on the Note?
Hope to get some objective replies here.. I'm asking here and not on a Apple-forum as the iSheeps would automatically just say iPad, even if the Note could get you a cup of coffee and read you next weeks lottery numbers......

The tablet apps on Android are sufficient enough. There's just about an android equivalent or better for most IOS apps. There are tons of educational apps for Android. Best thing is most of them are free. Or at least have free versions for you to try out. There are some educational apps that make use of S pen. But I would let your child(18 months) grasp using finger for tablet use before S pen. I have a 2yrs.old. she just wants to grab the pen and smash it into the screen...lol. they are to young, IMO, to realize how to be gentle with pen and tablet use. These tablets can be great educational tools though.
There are alot more apps than what comes pre-installed that make use of the S Pen. There's a preloaded app called S suggest I believe, that you can see alot of those apps in one place. S PEN APPS THAT IS.
Since you already accustomed to Android, go for t eNlte 10.1. Its an excellent tablet experience out the box. Plus it does way more than we're discussing. Ex, universal remote(IR blaster built in), watching movies, drawing, photo editing, writing notes, stories, brainstorming, gaming, productive things, etc.. I briefly thought about getting an ipad3 at first, then I remembered how locked down it was and how boring using it was. I grew tired of the OS. All I did was jailbreak and mod it like crazy to be as close to android experience as I could get.
I recommend the Note 10.1 over ipad3 anyday.

Nice to see all the x factor judges using our little baby ! Should help sammy shift some more units.
I'm also looking to buy soon. Does anyone think that the price will drop soon? Like around Black Friday? Should I wait it out, or is it too new to drop in price that quick?

Samsung controls the pricing through authorized resellers. And the cost to authorized resellers is pretty high compared to other manufacturers so non-authorized resellers are kind of hamstrung by what it costs them to by product from those who are authorized. Typically you'll see value- adds like bonus accessories and in-store credit. Fry's is/was running "$100 in-store credit" with purchase. If there's going to be Black Friday door busters I'd expect to see them on 7" tablets and those by Acer, Asus and Lenovo. Those brands were last year’s door busters. Not that there may not be "deals" of some kind on the Note but you'll be looking at $100 off potentially not half price.

Hi, I've been reading note 10.1 forums over a month even though I'm not lucky enough to own one yet. I'm not gonna question you're knowledge and awareness of these forums contents since I can see that you (mitchellvii) are a lot more active in here than I am, but yet I'd like you to point a thread that is about what applications is there available on google play store that are fun and educational apps for children less than 2 years old. I've not found one. Yet there might be one of course but you said that this particular question has been asked extensively, which is a synonym to a phrase such as "many times" and "over and over again".
I agree that these forums share so much information that half of these questions asked here could've been avoided by reading a few pages, but I think that when you search these threads in your time of boredom or your interest - which is exactly what I do - you should read what it's about instead of only reading it's title which seems similar to those 10 other threads where you just adviced people about not to ask those same questions "extensively". And maybe, just maybe then give your "constructive" answer.
I think that this guy here asked a very good question concerning what use note 10.1 could have to children, even though I'm only 19 years old and don't have any little boys or girls.
Please don't hate me because of this post, I just expressed my opinion on this matter and I might be wrong. I just think that people asking polite and appropriate questions should be treated the same way if the exact questions hasn't been answered yet, shouldn't they?
I think my point here is quite good and it emphasizes good team spirit. But maybe it's just me. Is it? (((see I'm sad and hopeless and yet I have some sort or HOPE that I'm not alone when I think that internet forums shouldn't be a place where people say inappropriate and rude things just because they don't need to say it face to face cos it's easier to say those in here.)))

Yes that's something to look for but can it be found here in xda galaxy note 10.1 forums? What I was wondering was if this questions has asked in here before. I don't know if you got this link from xda note 10.1 forums since I obviously didn't read them all before posting my opinion. But if a person comes on note 10.1 forum and asks a question that's not been asked and answered here, we should give him the answer if we have one and we should NOT expect him to google it if the questions is as ungooglable as this one is. Xda is about helping, not about "you can't ask that and if you ask you won't get an answer because someone asked something like that a month ago so you should already have an answer because someone gave it to someone on some thread some time ago". Right? We can't escape the fact that there will be "help me! Should i get ipad or note i don't know and i'm dying"- threads every god damn day but this one is not a thread like that. This one has a particular point focusing on children and I think it's a great perpective. And I do feel sorry now for the creator of this thread cos I just filled the first page with my thoughts sorry about that but I just thought it needed to be said somewhere.

What you're looking for doesn't exist. But after you've done the research it would be great if you could post your results to help others in the future.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying? I'm not looking for anything. In my first post I replied to mitchellvii that he's not actually helping anyone which should be the point in here. If you read my posts I think you'll see I don't currently need any help and I'm not looking for anything. Excuse me if I didn't catch your point on your last post but please explain me if you think I missed something which is quite possible since english is not my best language.

Typically forums like XDA are very general. What you're asking about is very specific. Also, at least in my time here, there hasn't been a lot of focus on mobile devices being used by children. So if you're looking for information I don't think you'll find anything specifc enough to meet your needs. If you're asking if there's a need I'd say yes, but it would be of interest to a small subset of the community. Hope that helps.

Oh and I wasn't looking for a thread concerning this matter cos I thought from the beginning that it doesn't exist, so I asked mitchellvii to point one which he obviously hasn't been able to do yet. My purpose was to tell someone who just replied to a unigue question - "there is plenty of other questions like this one." - to go find another one if there's so many of them. Okay?

I know where Mitch was coming from. Just today there were three threads started besides your all asking "should I buy a Note?" That in addition to others that were already open. His answer assumed yours was a question already asked but yours was specifc to children. Nobody should be offended. Hopefully you'll get the Note and someday have children you can hand it down to.

First of all you need to chill out. As Barry said we get 2 or 3 these "Why should I buy this tablet?" threads each day.
The OP didn't mention his interest in educational apps until about the 8th paragraph down. 90% of his question has been asked and answered hundreds of times. Thus it is pretty clear to me the OP did not spend 10 seconds searching for an answer prior to asking, otherwise he would have just asked about educational apps without the rest.
Read then ask.

Well, I think I made a better thread by describing my situation, rather than simply starting a thread with: "Are there any educational apps for this thing?"
You say: read, then ask
I say: Read the whole initial post before answering, not just the first line.
And for the record, I have been searching and reading a lot before posting here, but didn't really find any clear and good information regarding my question..
Anyway, none the less, I got some good answers here and the link that was posted was very helpful.. It really makes it easier to decide, and I'm 90% sure that I will go for the Note.. Thanks!

So would you suggest buying at a certain location in case the price drops? Is Amazon a good choice for purchasing this? I get 5% cash back if I buy with my Discover card starting Monday (online purchases). I hear Best Buy is good too for their return policy. I've always loved Amazon for no-hassle returns though. Any advice?

I think the lowest price last year for the OG G-Tab 10.1 over Black Friday was $349 vs. $499 retail. I wouldn't expect any better on the Note. But hey, these are crazy times so who knows what retailers will do to bring people in this year. Price protection's usually 30 days so you'd have to wait until the end of October to have the reseller match any holiday discounts. If you know anyone that's a Best Buy Silver Rewards member I think they get 60 days price protection.
