[SOLVED]n9005 nandroid restore but (internal) sd card not working - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all,
Rooted on stock firmware, MJ7 via the URDLV instructions and all was fine.
I flashed TWRP and have made a few back ups while trying out my rom that I have built. After my rom not booting, I have restored my nandroid backup.
This had been working fine, until now. My sdcard is no longer writable, I cannot send pictures that are on my sdcard and apps complain about storage problems. I have enough storage and can prove it.
I would appreciate any help that anyone might have with this. I don't want to format my phone/memory/card or anything really if I dont need to.
Thanks,
Matt

How to get backed up data/apps back onto flashed Desire

Apologies in advance if this is in the wrong area or if it has been answered, i've tried searching and nothing specific to this shows up.
I've just flashed my radio and rom to Cyanogen nightly 08202010 and everything is going well and looks good but how can I get all my backed up data and apps from my card that I backed up prior to the flash?
I've went into recovery and it all seems there but I need a way of getting it onto the phone from the card without screwing anything up.
First time doing this as you can tell.
Thanks for any help in advance,
Paul.

Thanks for replying mate. Used an app called MyBackup from the market. It allowed me to backup data and apps to my SD.
I've since learned that nandroid is a very good system, I found that on the recovery screen after I'd flashed my rom.
Any help is well appreciated.
Paul.

Fix for bootbrick

Haven`t seen anyone else mention this here yet so...
Myself and a few others have been affected by this seemingly unsolveable brick.Continous bootloops,Process system errors, loss of EFS folder so no network or WiFi.
I`ve been following this N900T thread as it has been pretty active http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467001&page=39
A member bakachu posted a fix for the N900T and as i was getting extremely desperate i tried it.It works for me on my N9005
Go to post #350 for the fix and read onwards for confirmations.
Too put it mildly i`m so delighted to have my Note 3 back in working condition
Big thanks to all involved in that thread:good:

I had problems with adb as the drivers wouldn`t install properly with all the bootloops.I downloaded the latest TWRP 2.6.3.2 and used the Terminal Command in Advanced settings. I made sure i was in root directory then entered mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p12 Didn`t use the rest of the code.
Went back to the wipe options and did a factory reset.

Sir to understand correctly i should take following step.
1.Flash stock rom from odin.
2. Flash twrp 2.6.3.2 from odin.
3. Go into twrp and in advanced setting used terminal command and then used mke2fs/dev/block/mmcblk0p12.
4. Again in twrp go in wipe option and do factory reset.
My steps are right? What do you mean by root directory? Plese help sir..

Your steps are correct.
When you open Terminal Command you should check what directory is showing below the input box
just go up a level until you reach root directory. (\) Then press select and input the code.

Hi ttav,
many thanks for your report in XDA,
all done what you have post here,
installed my Rom new with all stuff. Then make a backup from this one. Backup works great, i push all on in TWRP Restore and it works in short time (only 1 minute) include "efs".
Backup folder is "data/media/0/TWRP"
I will try a restore
Many regards

Hold off on any restore. Seems like backup/restore of EFS causes problems.
Edit: From a post by bigbiff
I have never tried to restore that partition so that is why I never experienced that issue. We are storing that partition with dd so I am at a loss why it didn't restore properly. When you are doing the mkfs it's wiping the partition. I will have to investigate further.

ok mate, no restore on TWRP, but backup seems to be good.
Just a heads up and probably should have mentioned this earlier
TWRP 2.6.3.2 is not for the N9005. I used it as a tool to get into Terminal Commander so i could input the code that fixed my problem.
As soon as possible i flashed CMW and used that for flashing.
No doubt TWRP will become an extremely useful tool for us but for the moment just hold fire.

At the moment i`m not sure but i guess there will be an app soon.
But for now running the same code restores your IMIE so not going to loose any sleep about it for the moment.

Missing space after failed .zip backup

Hi all,
I have a really strange issue. I'm on galaxy i9505 4.4.2 rooted with CWM 6.0.4.4.
I tried to create a backup zip file with CWM. As I didn't have enough space, it failed.
No probs... I rebooted my phone and it says I've not enough space on internal SD.
Under memory (screenshot attached) I see the bar having more or less 1,5GB free.
Instead the free space is just 387MB....
My first thought is, there's still a temp file of the zip I wanted to backup, but I searched everywhere and I can't find it...
Help!

I thought also to format the internal sd and then copy some data back, but honestly with kies it's a pain in the ass... perhaps android file transfer doesnt work on my computer....
Any suggestion? Someone had my same problem?

I'd love to. I didn't because I upgraded to 4.4.2 before rooting etc.
Runs Philz also om 4.2.2 now?
Should I simply flash it on top of CWM with odin or do I need to remove something manually first?
Thanx

Perfect.
So now I've flashed PhilZ. All best.
Rebooted: still missing those 1 GB.... grrr...
Now I'm thinking to format my internal SD.
What's the better way to do it?
Since it's impossible from stock rom anymore, i guess the only option would be from PhilZ.
BTW I'd also like to install MIUI later, so should I do simply a factory reset and full wipe?
Thanx BTW. :good:

Sandro,
Have you looked up what @smep said about looking at clockworkmod folder & see if it's still holding some space from your unsuccessful backup ?
Also yes you can format using Philz recovery. Always wipe if moving roms unless Dev states not to

Yep. I have 3 files inside (seen with Root Browser):
.nomedia (0 Byte)
.recovery_version (37,00 B)
.settings (285 B)
I don't think those 3 are occupying space... its just strange that .nomedia has 0 Bytes...
Is this folder also used by PhilZ?
About formatting with PhilZ:
-boot
-system
-cache
-preload
-data
-storage/sdcard1
-data and data/media
I'd go for sdcard1 only, but it seems the external one, right?.
Or should I also format one of these?
Thanx
Sandro
Ok for the second question I've found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544369
I've formatted the last voice (data and data media (sd card)).
I have to recover all the stuff from backup, but now I have correct values of space.
Anyway, time to install a custom rom

IMEI Problems

Hello Guys,
im facing a problem with my i9505,
I've been using Liquidsmooth Rom for some time,
and yesterday i flashed some roms, and now my sim card isn't recognized anymore, aswell my IMEI and Baseband are missing.
I've had that problem before, so flashed stock rom and restored a TWRP Backup containing only my EFS folder.
This has solved my problems in the past, but now nothing happens.
I have a TWRP backup aswell as a copy of the EFS folder.
Has someone else faced the same problem or knows how to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
No one?
Try to restore efs folder manually with root explorer
Sent from my GT-I9500 using XDA Free mobile app
I'm trying right now, but I am confused because the restore with TWRP doesn't do anything to my EFS folder.
Ok, I copied the EFS folder from my microsd back to the phone but nothing changed :crying:
Have you tried flashing back to stock with Odin? I've heard that can sort out IMEI problems and the sorts.
Even if it doesn't it gives you a clean phone to work with, so you can eliminate any rom problems.
I flashed the stock rom, as well as different modems trough odin, but nothing changed. But I'm wondering why the TWRP restore doesn't show any result.

Thanks Mate, I'm still trying. If not, I found a service to repair it for 25 Euros but I hope I will be able to do it myself.
Try to Download another stock rom and before flashing it do a full wipe, including formatting data and cache. Something similar happened to me a few days ago. I've flashed a russian rom and problem solved, but I have the i9500 model.

Ok, tried restoring with TWRP 2.500 and it shows me failed, contrary to TWRP 2.7.
With TWRP until 2.6.3 it shows me failed, 2.63 and 2.7 show me a succesful message.
LOL it just started working again without me doing anything :highfive::laugh:

If I were you I would do a nandroid backup onto an external SD, that way in case I can't boot and push files into the phone's internal storage, I will always be able to restore from extSD.

Your asking for trouble!
Your backup is for a different phone, the hardware will have different id's etc.
In short,don't even bother.
So cause i got a new phone even thou its still a note 3 n9005. It has a diffrent id? When i lot titainium backup it says would you like to restore previous phone id. Would that fix it?
