Hi all...
I Have a wifi connectivity issue on my mobile ,
Make: Micromax
Model: canvas plus ( A110Q)
OS: Android Jllybean 4.2.1
i got Dell Inspiron Laptop ( N4050) which was installed with Windows 7 Ultimate. i have a broadband connection (LAN) . I had installed a hotspot program named Virtual Router which i used for connecting other wifi devices and also the mobile i mentioned above. everything was working fine. no issues with wifi connectivity and authentication....
BUT recently i did change my operating system to Windows 8.1 . the same hotspot cannot be used on windows 8, so i did used Virtual Router Plus ( an upgraded Version ) .... all my wifi devices are connecting and working perfectly through the new hotspot except this Micromax A110Q. it found wifi conection and asking for security. once security is entered it shows " saved and secured" but while connecting i shows " Authentication Problem "
Why this is happening to this particular mobile while all other android and windows devices are connecting and working perfectly...
totally i am confused...
Can some one help me?
Have you tried deleting and recreating the wifi connection on your mobile? Android can get very picky about that. I have had similar problems at times and this solves it.

Except U1 Tab , im able to connect all devices to my phone...
As That Tablet dont have sim slot , Im interested to use my phones's data on tab by wifi tethering...
My friend has same phone as I hv , and tab is getting connected to it very fine....
It has problem only with my phone ...
I hv factory reseted both android....
But none helped....
In rare cases I have run into wifi connections that either won't take certain characters or limit the length of the password. Have you tried a short simple password of just letters and numbers? Just suggesting a quick test; changing everything can be a royal pain.

My password is so simple that even a little kid can crack. . But the same mobile was able to connect through same wifi hotspot when i had windows 7. But things changed when i install windows 8..

when you upgraded windows and went with virtual router plus, did you change anything, such as the band(s) you are using? other than windows and your router software did you change anything else?

im using an xperia neo and cm10
for the hotspot im using mHotspot
did all those trick tricky things long days before... but i think what i am looking for is the bandwidth... driver alteration... or something serious stuff inside but i am no expert in internal stuffs and alteration ..
As i know...recent new patches not available for micromax but the virtual router customer service idea seems pretty.. I will give it a try...

hi every body. i've just bought new T-mobile and i tried alot of adroid verson ( matt, SC...) but i cant share internet from my laptop to hd2 by usb connection ( i'm using HTC sync)..
i want to do this..please help me...
thanks all..
I dont know what happen but when ppp went live usb tethering stopped working. Everyone uses wifi tether now.
Your laptop doesnt have wifi?
I asked a similar question sometime ago, please check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772244
The conclusion was: if you want to use your laptop's internet on the HD2 (in some kind of reverse tethering), the best is to use a software like VirtualRouter or Connectify to make an Acess Point from your wifi card that your HD2 can easily connect to. I am sorry, but there's not an easy USB solution like you have for Windows Mobile. I hope one day they to it, though.
You shouldnt need any special extra software. It just might be something that doesnt work in the kernal at the moment.
Native android devices can do it aslong as they are rooted.
Lets not say it isnt possible as that makes android sound gimp
My problem is: in my room..wifi is only enough for my lap ( HD2 can connect the wifi but because the wifi signal too weak...) and i'm using internet in my lap by wifi...so i cant using wifi tethering...hic....any solution??
Try WiFi internet sharing in Windows from your laptop.

but can i do something to make that unreliable connection work ? I wanted to make that unreliable connection work. Can it be done by rooting?
No. Your tablet won't change the fact that your provider is the problem. The nexus 7 and tf101 have shown me that Asus makes the best WiFi radios. The problem must be your modem or router.
My WiFi connection on n7 is crappy as well. All my other devices are good when I'm on my room except the n7. It's definitely a lemon unit I got. I remedied it by installing connectify on my desktop. But then it is not a good solution as my desktop need to be always on. I haven't brought mine to service center, coz they may refuse it as I lost my warranty card.
To OP, better bring it to service center.

Just recently got my Nexus 4.
I tried using tethering with my Nexus 7. A Macbook pro. And a different phone. And only with my Windows 8 PC it connects to the network but it doesn't get internet access.
The problem isn't with the PC since I was able to get online with my other phone (2.3).
Any ideas on what it could be?

Stock Android does not support WiFi direct. It uses bluetooth to transfer. I would try the Superbeam app (You have to install it on both phones). Are your other phones working on the 5GHz WiFi band? If so, what channel is your router broadcasting at? Some people have issues with the Nexus 4 not connecting to bands 12 and 13 (if my memory is correct), but not all (My 211k Nexus is fine). Are you running stock? If not, what ROM and kernel are you running? Have you tried to disable WiFi optimization (Settings>WiFi>Menu button>Advanced>WiFi Optimization)?

Ok the wifi direct thing got sorted out...The wifi is also working BUT..BUT....the downloading speed is still too damn LOW!.. I dont understand is a hardware issue?? Or a software issue from google?..

I recently moved to another location and found out Nexus having hard time to connect to Google through Wifi(grey wifi bar appears often). Surfing internet is also dramatically slower than before. I do not know if it is Google I/O related issue (namely software issue) or router (namely hardware issue)?
All my PCs and another Samsung Android phone work fine with the new router. What's happening?
hi, I just got a Galaxy note 4, I can connect to wifi everwhere but not at work. I get error that password is incorrect, I have the same password so I know my password. My stepson has a galaxy s5 and has no problem connection. I actually just returned my first phone after trying 5 days to get it connect at work. Both Comcast box and firewall have been reset. So I am not sure where to go stepson suggest change to developer operating system. I have tried safe mode, soft reset and factory reset to no luck.
This is last resort - before I return and get a different brand/model phone
if you can connect everywhere except work its your work problem. some workplaces use cisco and proprietary protocols to login to wifi after connection. if your workplace does that you will not be able to connect. no phone will. ask your work wifi to use WPA2 with AES instead of some proprietary protocol for wifi. if your son has installed some non standard rom to get his s5 to connect you will need to buy an s5 and do the same.

It is very likely that your work uses wifi protected setup. You need access to router or access point to finish setup. Ask your IT guys to help you. It needs to be done once only.

Response from my IT guys - -they are very helpful since this is a personal phone and not company issued.
I don't have a good reason for this one device to have a problem connecting to this one network. I believe we have eliminated common errors such as mistyped or incorrect password, since you have personally been able to connect other devices without issue. This also eliminates the possibility of a 1-time setup or authorization requirement, as you did not need that for the other devices. I will need to look into whether there could be a technological incompatibility between the two devices.
We will look into this further and have to get back to you.

We have a WPA2. We have people come visit all the time and have them connect.
I am just wondering in there is something in this phone operating system that is more technological updated than the systems we are using and could be the problem
I still would try to use Wifi Protected Setup. It is software depended and Note 4 is capable of using WPS while many others not. It is possible that software in Note 4 sensing that access point has that feature and requesting it. Im not network specialist but I setup few laptops for my friends. They were using Dell Vostro laptops and by default they required using WPS to connect to home network. Once that feature was disabled they connected with no problem using user password.

not possible since i have connected to both WPA2-PSK AES and WPA2-EAP AES systems. EAP requires a username/password instead of just a password.
the only system i have not been able to connect to is a WPA-CKIP and WPA2-CKIP which is a cisco proprietary protocol.
connection made

Hi all,
My Phone has connected to the company wifi. I was searching for an infinity hot spot since I am an infinity customer and was scanning and then I am connected to the company wifi. Then it began to do all these updates and I did nothing to prompt this. (weird since it can connect at home and this did not happen) I have been in contact with Samsung and have been explaining my issue - part of their process is you need to enter model and serial number- is it possible for them to track my phone - I am wondering as when I have called HP for service they can find my laptop. Very weird, but I am happy, Hopefully it will continue to work like this and I can begin to use this phone to its full potential.
yes samsung and google can both track your phone.
