Just about tried everything to root this and found this.
I tried this method on 9.30.1 and it worked for me
This root method was made for the Samsung Galaxy S4, But the OP says may work on others too
Has been confirmed to work on the Razr HD, Razr HD Maxx and the Razr M here and over at my post @ droidrzr.com
You do not need to install the samsung drivers.
Just the Moto drivers and make sure adb is working.

All 3 msm8960 phones [xt907, xt925/6 & mb866] have always used the same low level exploits & this SHOULD be no different. Works on one, works on all.
BTW I never knew how to interpret the BL codes:
Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 0
Device is UNLOCKED. Status Code: 1
Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 2
Device is UNLOCKED. Status Code: 3

I have been trying to root my phone since September 2013. I had given up and was reading some info on the possibility of using an AT&T sim in my Verizon phone on Droidrazr.com when I came across a post from yesterday that said "and just like that". Root is confirmed 100%. Thanks very much for the help. These two sites are invaluable.
P.S. I did not have to install the Samsung Drivers.

The referenced thread seems to be talking about Samsung devices. Are you saying this root method for Samsung works on a Motorola RAZR HD (xt926)?
I have a razr hd with unlocked bootloader and recently flashed the 9.30.1 update and lost root. I read somewhere that you can somehow copy the su binary back to the phone in one of the directories in the path using fastboot but I have no idea how to do that. I do have an unlocked bootloader if that helps. I also have a copy of the su and Superuser.apk files on my PC in my original motochopper folder.

Ok. So after verifying adb works, I just unzip the saferoot.zip file, cd to the directory where I extracted it, and run install.bat? That simple?
Should I remove the old Superuser app (that no longer works) before running this?

No need for this exploit. Flash su & you are done.
But now that you did it, yea delete the old su.
See my stickys for the su/root zip-flash from cwmr via matt's util.
I just tried this on a Razr HD XT926 running 9.18.94, android 4.1.2
Confirmed WORKING, at least for me. Got my root back yay!
Thanks for this OP
Worked

Thought I'd never be able to get this phone rooter.

Weird - the only thing I had done to mine was root with Vipermod - update installed fine, broke root, voodoo root keeper restored root without issue....
I didn't really have any of the issues that most people had - tho the screen tearing on the recent app list now appears to be gone....
I have the dlpkg if anyone wants it, i just have to transfer it to my PC. Looks like the kernel update, is only 11MB so it might upload here if I pack it in a zip..
Looking at it, there is a blob file almost certainly a new kernel, some system patches, lib patches, the updater script is tremendous.. and almost all if not all system apps get a patch too.
Nope, even though it is 11.54MB, and the forum claims that 11.81MB is the max, it won't let me upload it..I guess if you want it PM your email I can send it over..
Scratch my previous - the screen tearing issue on the recent apps list still exists past six or seven recent apps...
Got the notification too.I m rooted though so i wont proceed with the update procedure unless someones makes a flashable zip!
Reported for dubble posting. Use searching next time please.
I got mine around 10 am. But what I was doing when I got it was a wipe. After the wipe was when it told me I had an update. So far seems pretty good. Of course that's been said many times only to have to eat them. Time will tell.

Nice, please download the update and pull the .zip before rebooting to install it:
Code:
adb pull /cache/dlpkgfile.zip
then you can delete it:
Code:
adb shell rm /cache/dlpkgfile.zip

No work for me.
I am using ICS - Rooted
Downloaded the Updated (through OTA) and then it prompts to reboot and install and..Fails.
It is prolly because I Modified the system (Removed bloat and changed a few things. Lol.
I may re install it as stock rooted and try again.
I have no Issues, so I may not. Hmmmm

Yes, the updater script does a fair bit of assessing of your system..including all your bloatware that I can tell..because all of that is patched.

You need to install adb then cd to the adb directory, then type the command.

Ok bro, so the ROM manager app says that SU wasnt found where it should usually be. So the SU must have been extracted elsewhere which is improbable. But to fix your issue just get another update.zip and reinstall the package. If therr is an SU apk present doimg this should overwrite the exisitng one

Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I received the update OTA on my rooted (deb) N7/2, booted to TWRP and flashed the .zip, that is in /cache. Update runs fine. I didn't use the recovery option to fix SU permissions.
Just rebooted to OS, went to recovery and flashed the SU.zip afterwards.
Root and TWRP are working fine.
I received the update too and installed it via twrp.
All went fine exept for root. I just had to install chainfires root package (1.55) again.
is it a sign to get a factory image in a short time?

Slightly OT here, but since it might still be useful for future OTA updates: How does one catch/find out the OTA URL of an update? I understand that the update itself gets downloaded to /cache and there you can find the filename, but what about the URL?

simplest way is a proxy in your wifi network, which handles all http/https requests for the phone/tablet.

If you know the update file name then it's easy. Address is android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_devicecodename/filename so in our case android.clients.google.com/packages/ota/google_razorg/filename
if i am not mistaken the url is also visible in logcat.
So just to make sure I`m getting this right, I have a rooted DEB with TWRP installed:
1. Flash the zip from recovery
2. Flash SuperSU.zip
3. Reboot
4. Done
Or is a reboot needed in between between steps 1. and 2.? Does anyone have a working link to the SuperSU files needed (thanks in advance!).

Even more simple is:
1) just allow a USB developer mode in the settings (no root needed)
2) fire up your ubuntu linux
3) run adb lolcat | grep http in the terminal
and take a look for something like

Greetings
I searched the forums but nothing related to my issue was found
I recently got an android PC stick MK809IV (Unbranded) with Kitkat 4.4.2 Rom which has Rockchip RK3188T / 1.4-1.6GHz Quad core as CPU
I managed to try at least two rooting methods (plus some hacking through adb) but failed to have proper root.
The drivers for the stick are properly installed and I get "[email protected]:/ #" while using "adb shell" and root with id command
[email protected]:/ #
id
uid=0(root) gid=0(root) context=u:r:shell:s0
[email protected]:/ #
The method TPSparkyRoot with the batch file from here (Modified to work properly) has showed confirmation that root is ok, as there was no errors during process
I checked file system in read only mode (with xPlore) : su and busybox binaries are in /system/bin, SuperSU also installed in /system/app with 644 permission and root.shell ownership but no ROOT.
The SuperOneClick method tells me that device is rooted but in fact nothing
I think it is permissions and ownership issue or an incompatible su binary (I have tried many ones, sometimes SuperSU says there is no binary, other times says it have to be updated but fails) but have not any clue on how to solve it.
This stick is driving me crazy !
Any idea is welcome
Any further direction for rooting an mk809iv device?

I might have a similar device. It is a generic mk809iv Android TV stick running 4.4.2. I actually managed to root it, but I'm not sure how. I simply downloaded tool after tool that did not work, then suddenly it was rooted. However, it was using KingUser or KingRoot and my antivirus flagged it as a problem. So tried to install SuperSu, but that did not work. Does anyone know how to root these devices safely? Here is an image of my device:

Thank you for the reply, I already found the kingoroot and it is just working fine, I forgot to update the thread by the way.
For those people who are interested, just google it.
It is a free app, so if it works, don't forget to donate to the author
Before rooting, you need to get proper windows drivers installe, enable USB debugging
It is important to disable automatic updates for SuperSU in google play, because when updating, it will ask to update binary and fail, so will lose root.
Keep SuperSU at installed version.
I need firmware for this device

I might have a similar device. It is a generic mk809iv Android TV stick running 4.4.2. I actually managed to root it, but I'm not sure how. I simply downloaded tool after tool that did not work, then suddenly it was rooted. However, it was using KingUser or KingRoot and my antivirus flagged it as a problem. So tried to install SuperSu, but that did not work. Does anyone know how to root these devices safely? Here is an image of my device:

Sure, except I do not know how to obtain the firmware from the device. Is there a link to a "how to". I would need the tools.

leech4, I'm running Windows 10, have the MK809IV and have installed the Rockchip DriverAssistant_v4.4 on my laptop.
I have enabled USB debugging on the device, but the device is not recognised when I plug it into my laptop.
Windows Device Manager doesn't even show it as a connected device.
When you say "get the proper Windows drivers installed".
Which drivers? From where?
