Try updating superuser.

Ok bro, so the ROM manager app says that SU wasnt found where it should usually be. So the SU must have been extracted elsewhere which is improbable. But to fix your issue just get another update.zip and reinstall the package. If therr is an SU apk present doimg this should overwrite the exisitng one

I'm using flipz 1.56 RUU and for some reason, when it tells me to connect the phone to the PC, it says it cannot be found. I usually use a MAC to connect my Hero and all sorts of stuff, and I just found a PC to be able to unroot. What seems to be the issue? I know the phone is connected because I can look at it's folders and such.

I'm having this EXACT same issue... But, if you can look at its folders, go into the notifications and set it to "charge only" and make sure USB debugging is enabled.
You need to install HTC Sync on the PC in order to use the RUU.

Grrr...oh well unrooting I stay
Am about to unroot so I can take my Hero in to sprint, I have dust under the screen. Anyone want to point out the best (easiest) way to unroot?
I seen a post where it could be done by just sdcard, would that or using the kitchen be the best way to go?
I am running a 2.1 ROM.
Thanks!

Method 1 is dead simple
Just 5 steps?? WoW
I looked for a little bit today at work and could not find anything this easy. LOL
Anyone tested this?
1. Download the following file: http://www.multiupload.com/Q3RMV5MTRF
2. place in /root of SD card
3. Reboot phone into HBoot mode, by holding Volume Down
4. Press action (the trackball) when prompted
5. Reboot phone
while i havent done it, so cant confirm, the unroot from sd does seem to be the most foolproof way to do it. all their going to look for is the correct recovery.img and stock feel, so it only makes sense
Cool, Thanks!! I am going to give this a try (15 mins before I run in to sprint) I am going to hate to go with about my custom rom and add the added stuff I get with root!

HBoot is recovery mode, When you power up the phone holding down the volume button.

OK, I did the 5 little steps and then I went to kitchen to root my phone again..
I phone reboots and when I try to go to HBoot so I can nandroid a backup I have I get this screen.

High-end Android phones are pretty damn awesome by themselves. But there’s always a little magic to be had by rooting. For those that are fearless and throw caution to the wind, hop on inside for the quick and relatively painless list of what you need and how to do it…
Let the rooting begin…
1. Download this file — PC36IMG.zip — and copy it to the root of your SD card.
2. Turn off phone. Then power back on holding the power and volume button. **If the PC36IMG files was placed correctly and you successfully booted into the bootloader, you should see text appearing on the screen as the phone automatically checks said file.
3. At the prompt to install the image(s), select “Yes”.
4. Reboot
5. Delete or rename the PC36IMG file so that it won’t automatically try to install it again the next time you venture into bootloader land.
And that’s that. Not nearly as hard or involved as some of the earlier HTC Android devices. EVO 4G owners should try it out and let us know how it goes.

So rooting like this will still give me SU controls, meaning I can use SetCpu? But still with the stock 2.1 sense?
Question about rooting!
1. How do I get Sprint apps back after rooting (such as Sprint TV, Sprint Nav etc.) or are they part of the ROM?
2. How do I backup my phone before rooting? In case I have to return I am sure I will have to unroot it! Is this possible?
I have seen too much people asking how to install Cyanogen (Not Official),so here i bring you this tutorial that i followed and installed Cyanogen successfully on my SGA.

Make sure you have rooted phone and Gingerbread 2.3.4
Download this: http://www.multiupload.com/JGZE0DM8NU
And extract it on a folder.
Password: adgoosuc
These are the simple steps:
1. Copy those 3 files in your SD CARD
2. Turn off your phone
3. Reboot on recovery.
How? Press power button and home button until you see "SAMSUNG" Text.
Then you will have something like this:
Volume buttons for go UP & DOWN
Home button for select (click)
4. Click on apply sdcard:update.zip and select the file named "ClockWorkModAce.zip" (if you dont know where is that go to step 1)
5. Then some text will appear ... and after it finishes reboot your phone by clicking "reboot system now".
Then turn off your phone again and enter recovery AGAIN.
6. Select "Install ZIP from sdcard" and install the file named "cm-7.1.0-RC1-Cooper-KANG-Grif_07.zip"
7. When that finish,DON'T REBOOT,just install "cm-7.1.0-RC1-AllFixes-Grif_07.zip" and when that finishes you can reboot.
And that's all ! Now you have Cyanogen MOD 7.1 RC1 running on you Samsung Galaxy Ace without any problem.
I hope this works for you as for me.You also can hit THANKS button for me :$

it is expected to loose all your data when you're flashing a custom rom over a stock one. Wiping is required cause you'll end up with a messedup phone.

If you want, I can give proof, I'm currently restoring apps from Ti Backup Pro
My friend just gave me a Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 and he told me that it has a problem and may I can fix.
I've tried everything I know but there is no any progress so far.
Here is the problem;
1. Device is not booting. Hanging out at the first logo (Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505)..
2. I thought it's a simple problem.. I can make factory reset and it may work.
3. I entered recovery and I've seen this;
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4. The problem seems big than I thought. I thought maybe it may work if I put original firmware. Downloaded from sammobile and nothing changed. Then I decided to install a recovery.
5. I choose TWRP and installed it with these settings. Result on computer;
Result on Phone;
6. And tried to enter recovery, result was successful !!
7. Then Enter 'Advanced' > 'Terminal Command'
8. I just checked 'whoami' on terminal;
9. I can delete everything if I'm root right? So let's try.. 'ls' and get list..
10. Let's delete etc and efs folders. I have the power!
11. Let's reboot device, enter recovery again.. and let's see if I'm successfully deleted directories;
As you can see, device is always saying that Failed to mount /efs (no such file or directory) and more. I can only install recovery. And I can't delete or change anything else. Neither I can't install new firmware.
Do you have any idea? What is this? I want to fix this stupid situation.
I just tried to explain the situation with photos. Hope it wasn't boring.
Thank you for reading.
Have you tried with Kies?
Or maybe trying to flash a custom ROM?
Did you ask if he did something to cause this?
Edit: I once had an SD card which was broken. I could create/copy and delete stuff but as soon as I removed the SD from any device it was connected to, everything was back to it's previous state (deleted files were back and copied stuff was gone). I tried formatting but same thing happened.
Maybe something is wrong with the internal storage.
Try to convert to another file system format.

I've tried with Kies 2.6 and Kies 3..
Kies 3 says 'unsupported device'
Kies 2.6 just waiting waiting and nothing..
I couldn't put any files to internal storage.. Also it doesn't recognize any sd card.
I don't know how to change the file system?
I mean to ext4 or f2fs, or whatever.
I don't know how to do it either. I never had the need to do it. I don't even know if you can in this situation, but you could try. There should be several guides on the internet on how to do it. Just google it.
Does a pc recognize the phone? Have you tried pushing something to it via adb?

Sure it's recognize.. I'm able to install recovery with Odin.
But when you did turn-off and turn-on, everything is reversing.. Like never installed.
So it's basically exactly like the issue that I described about my broken SD card.
I think it may be an internal storage problem. Maybe it's broken. I don't see why or how something would trigger a write protection.
