Hi Guys
Basically phone has broken screen and digitiser. Phone does not have knox bootloader. I need to install a non knox BTU rom through odin. The BTU rom needs to be a full wipe rom. Can anybody recommend a rom to install before it goes back to Samsung.
Thanks

Hi, so i've got a few problems going with my i9505 Telstra S4.
I flashed to 4.3 trying it out then went back to original stock rom 4.2.2 from sam mobile but it's not registering a simcard in the device
at all.I have flashed modem a few times and it picks it up for a bit then drops it again. When I go to reflash the new rom
I go and flash philz and completely data, cache and dalvik wipe the phone befor doing it but after wards when the phone is on the main screen
after putting in the info and plugging into a computer, it comes up with the same name as it did before for the device even though i changed it, not sure if that means anything.
Not sure where to go from here and sorry for the terrible grammar
You can't go back to 4.2.2 stock once you flashed the 4.3 stock rom. The reasons are related to the new bootloader.
I suggest you instead flash a 4.3 rom.. perhaps the BTU one.

You would need to flash the entire package. Please take the time to read up on this process... and make sure the phone you are flashing suits the firmware you flash. In this forum your will find clear instructions on how to flash 4.3 for the i9505 from Sammobile.
Hi, I got a GalaxyS4 (i9505) and i played around with it a little, installed some mods, a custom recovery and a custom rom (no knox flag). Now i'm thinking of giving it back and get a Note3 instead, how can I get it back like it was? I mean, old recovery and stock rom? it was 4.2.2 bandbase was xxubmga.
Thanks,
Triangle Away, stock rom from Samfirmware for country/carrier, flash with Odin, factory reset, done.

Thanks again. All signed up and it takes me to the firmware and phone select page.
If I select my phone and UK it gives me a MK9 version. Is that ok? or will that be 4.3.
Can I ask another question too please. If I was to update to an official sammy 4.3 rom and then root. Would I still get the knox count or problems??

Let me makes things clear for you mate , right now i have an old bootloader (No Knox warranty void, when i go to download mode) means i can flash any 4.2.2 firmware without having any knox void warranty. this is what i do i flash a pre-rooted rom then use a triangle away to reset the binary and use Phil recovery and flash any 4.3 custom rom i want! but if you need to send your phone to samsung because there's a hardware problem , feel free to flash a 4.2 from you country.(Since more likely after they fix your phone they will prolly update it to 4.3) remember flashing a 4.3 mk9 stock rom means a new bootloader/Knox void warranty 0x0 willl be activate. So if you flash root/custom rom that should void your warranty to 0x1 Please feel free to check more about Knox from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2447832

Yes I understood that. I'm in the same situation as you as in the way I flash ROMS. I didn't realise that the counter still worked even if it was an official update with bootloader, just thought if I flashed a custom rom with new bootloader it started the Knox warranty void.
Thanks for all your help. I'm gutted now though coz your right Samsung probably update my phone and then I'm b****ed anyway if I root again and custom rom it. Your link doen't take me to a 4.2.2. rom though so I'll keep looking.

You need to flash a pre-rooted rom from djembey thread. Then you can use triangle away to reset the binary .and the flash a stock rom and sent it for repair. Please read the instruction on djembey thread so you wont void ur warranty.
2nd opinion . Flash a stock rom with odin by selecting PDA. And root your phone using saferoot (i dont know about this if it works) install triangle away . Reset binary . Reflash stock again then send.
Sent from Hell ?
Is the pre rooted stock rom so that triangle away will work??? I'm on a pre rooted custom rom but need a samsung kernal for triangle away to work properly. If a flash the stock rom I have on 4.2.2 will that aslo flash stock recovery???

Thats correct ,as long its a Stock and rooted then yes you can reset the binary.then flash the stock rom again and you should be fine . incase your phone are still in old bootloader (no knox, never flash 4.3 Samsung rom) then feel free to flash a 4.2.2 Pre-rooted BMGA-odex-FULL from djembey thread ,once your done, Download/Install triangle away and reset the binary, flash a Normal stock rom from samsung, Boot into download mode and you will see it says Official and your good to go Goodluck mate
You've been a great help thanks. Stock recovery is that also flashed when I flash the stock rom last through odin???
So I'm gonna flash a stock rom pre rooted 4.2.2 with CWM then use triangle away then flash stock samsung through odin.

Hi
Im new to Android and got some questions. I ´v been reading but at this point i rather ask.
I got an I9505 Int unbranded model on 4.2.2 (UBMGA) knox free. I would like to try out some roms but be able to revert back to stock for official updates in the future.
I would like to tryout GE of the latest 4.4.2 without knox or locked bootloader is that possible?
Also if its possible to install an official 4.3 TW version without the bloatware?
Just need a push in the right direction.
Thanks

You can start rooting your phone and then flash a Custom recovery such as Philz/TWRP/CWM and flash any 4.3 Rom's (Bloatware) you like and make sure its a knoxfree rom. and about 4.4 kitkat it wont work for us Oldbootloader (NOWIFI) since Samsung did not release any kernel source yet . so be patience . Until they relase the Official. Have a nice day.
And If you wanna go back just flash a 4.2.2 Prerooted BMGA stock > Reset binary > Flash a normal Stock 4.2.2

Remember flashing a custom rom/rooting will void your warranty.
1/4 all good .
5. No need to flash the latest bootloader only modem . Since we already have custom kernel. But its up to u.
6. Full wipe.
7.flash wanam
8. Chexk sammobile/ what modem you need base from your country/ provider.

If you flash the modem using Odin, then you don't need to wipe anything or lose any data, I wouldn't bother flashing the bootloader.

Well it depends what your phone is running out of the box, but the main reason is if you're phone happens to be on a pre-Knox (4.2.2) bootloader, its best to avoid updating to a newer one as once you have it you can't downgrade it. Or you will trip the Knox warranty when rooting/flashing recovery/custom ROMs.
So a check before updating/flashing anything is best, you can boot into download mode and check for a line that says 'knox 0x0'. If its there that means you have the Knox bootloader already, if not you're on the old one.
I'm still running the bootloader from I9505XXUBMGA firmware and so Im Knox free and can continue to flash custom ROMs (currently on custom stock based 4.4.2 rom) and revert back to full stock I9505XXUBMGA firmware if needed (so my device can be returned to out of the box state for warranty purposes). I only update the modem when needed, usually after there is a version or other significant change.
