[Q] LG G2 Sprint new not activated, unlock? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all. A friend of mine bought used g2 from t-mobile and got unlock code for 2$ and everything was fine.
I have an opportunity to get new sprint lg g2 from U.S., but now I live in Asia (so does my friend).
the question is: "Will there be any problems with unlocking if phone is new and not activated yet?"
UPD: just have been informed that Sprint cannot be unlocked for international users. Is it true?
Thanks.

It is

[Q] G2 usage in Japan

Anyone has tried using the G2 in japan before with a bmobile data sim?I am going japan in November....
I haven't traveled with mine. However, if you check the thread for unlocking, you can unlock the LG G2 for around $2. Then you can check KDDI, Softbank, and Docomo's bands online and see which is compatible. My educated guess is that you'll be limited to HSPA + and Softbank will work since they use GSM.

oic. sorry but what do u mean by one can unlock the G2 for $2? which thread are u talking about? TIA
Hello,
I'm not sure which model LG G2 model you have, but all GSM versions are very similar other than primary radio differences. Assuming that you don't have an unlocked version, you can unlock your device for $2 at www.unlockcode247.com .
Once unlocked, you can use it in Japan on any provider that uses a SIM. You'll most likely be limited to HSPA speeds. In fact, the Engadget review was done on an unlocked LG G2 in Japan.

[Q] T-mobile G2 in Canada

Hello Community,
I recently purchased an unlocked t-mobile G2 for use on the Bell and Wind network.
Im thinking of rooting my device to enable the ability to uninstall all the t-mobile bloatware as well as the carrier IQ software.
I have two questions:
1. Being a tmobile phone on a Canadian network - should tmobile push an update, will I receive that or will I have to wait for my provider to push it?
2. I assume rooting the device will disable any hope of receiving and update regardless of US or Canadian carrier?
Thank you in advance for any comments.
Um tmobile won't work on the bell version, you can make calls but not 3g. ...it Will work on wind tough. ..
1. I don't know
2 . yes

Thank you for the response, However I must disagree with your initial statement. I currently have the tmobile G2 on Bell and I am getting 4G/LTE service.
Hmm I wonder if it works the other way around then. ..I didn't think Pentaband was unlocked on this phone I'll try with one of my friends wind cards on my Rogers g2

Help - Switching mobile

hi folks,
I was wondering if I could get clarified with noob questions for carrier locked devices.
I'm in contract with att on HTC one right now. I'm planning to buy a sprint/ Verizon/ tmobile/att LG g2 (cheaper). Will it be possible to unlock any of the above carriers and use it for my current att contract? Also let me know if I can buy a device with bad esn on other networks.

Verizon g2 international data?

Going to Nicaragua in a month.
Was going to take the g2 and simply swap out the SIM with a local carrier.
Any chance this will work without incredibly expensive Verizon international plan?
Thanks, and sorry for the noob question...

Yes. The GSM portion of Verizon phones are unlocked out the box.

Warranty on verizon version

I have the verizon g2 and I wanted to get the warranty on it. The issue is I'm not using it on verizon. When I call they ask me for a verizon account. I told them that I bought the phone in full with no contact and didn't activate a verizon account. I said its unlocked and I'm using it on lycamobile. The cs now thinks I jail broke my phone so I explain to them that androids can't be jail Broken. By unlocked I mean it can be used with any carrier. And newer verizon phones are already unlocked. They get confused and just start making stupid excuses so I hang up. Is there anything I can do to get warranty on it because the manual says it has 1 year manufacture defect warranty on it. Any ideas what to do? Would it work out better if I went to a store or would they still need an account and stuff. Because I don't have receipts or anything since I bought it off eBay.

You should hope that the person from eBay has your receipt unless they are an actual vendor then that receipt for the purchase should be enough for a manufacturer warranty. Manufacturing warranty normally only covers the original/first buyer. Good luck though I'm not sure LG will cover your phone but they should.

The Verizon is CDMA locked but GSM unlocked out of the box. Lots of people bought the Verizon model for Qi Charging and ease of moving to different GSM carriers.

Okaaaayyy.... I know that and it's exactly why I bought it. What does that have to do with this thread?
Anyways I talked to lg and they said If I can get the receipt from the seller I'll have warranty they just need proof of purchase and they said I can deal straight with them or through verizon so I'll see if the guy will send me a pic of the receipt if he still has it
