Nexus 7 screen broke and the digitizer is not working at the top quarter of the screen. So I'd like to disable the cracked portion of the screen such that it becomes fully "touchable" again, albeit smaller screen view.
Is there no solution to this.?

well my htc hd2 is using android and using it a year by now and notice that the upper left of the screen is not working?is it the lcd or digitizer or just need to align it?i dropped this many times(up to 5 times i think)but no damage on the housing and it looks new,and it is annoying in some games cause it wont work and i notice a very little red dot on that part.....pls help
If you lost sensitivity and the screen does not respond to touch, then it's a digitizer, if picture is distorted or, as you describe, a red dot appeared where it shouldn't be - LCD, sounds like both in your case. I am not quite sure how it doesn't work in games or whether the problem is present in normal screens. Alignment is a procedure to tune and correct mistakes in touch recognition or to make touch more precise on resistive screens.
I suggest replacement of your LCD + DIGITIZER. Dropping it many times may have caused it too, even if housing looks perfect.
I am having trouble with the touch input on an AT&T Galaxy S4 i337 LCD. The phone had minor water damage and the LCD was struggling to turn on all the way. After soaking the LCD assembly in an ultrasonic cleaner for 15 minutes the screen fully loaded and displayed correctly.
However all but the top quarter inch of the screen is recognizing touch input. I have tried the LCD with a known working motherboard and get the same result. When I go into the test mode by pressing *#0*# every part of the screen responds correctly, except the very top portion. When I swipe across the top the line is drawn 1/4" down.
Link to a screenshot of the test.
Otherwise the screen works wonderfully, displays correctly (including the top 1/4"), dims correctly, and accepts touch input everywhere else.
I tried running it through another ultrasonic bath, but I am still having the same problem.
I also flashed the same stock ROM it was already on in Odin. I337UCUAMDL_I337ATTAMDL_I337UCUAMDL_HOME.tar
Does anyone know what could be the cause of the digitizer not recognizing just the very top portion of the screen? It is like the phone has just a slightly shorter resolution according to the digitizer.
Hi, a few days ago i broke my nexus 7 screen . There is a huge crack on the screen and the touch works only in a small portion of the screen. The display is coming right though. Also, the broken screen seems to be touching the touch somewhere as the device sometimes responds without even touching the screen. How can i check whether i need to replace LCD glass only or i have to replace the glass along with the digitizer?
Hey guys.
Cracked the lower part of my screen today so the bottom 2cm are unresponsive. I've managed to change the screen res so that I can use the phone, but it has left black bars at the top and bottom. Is there anyway to "shift" the screen upwards so that I have more useable screen space? Also where is a reliable place to order an OEM screen and digitiser? Thanks
I found some oem touch digitizers for the Nexus 4 (cannot post link, new user) on ebay, usually $50
Not really sure how to shift the resolution though.
I have a verizon LG G2 phone.
A tiny sliver of the LCD screen cracked a couple of hours ago, and now the bottom inch of the touch screen is unresponsive.
I'm unable to use the home/settings buttons. The rest of the LCD touch screen works perfectly fine. Is there a way to solve this issued without replacing the entire screen? What is a digitizer? Is that the problem, or the crack, or both?
I appreciate your help, thank you
