Any camera app that will help me use the g2's camera better? Thanks!

lgCamera (first letter is an L) in the Play Store is the only one I've found not to have the focus breathing issue that plagues the G2 when recording videos. It will only auto-focus if you tap the screen or set it for continuous auto-focus. The only thing is that I think it only records in landscape

Camera app

I've scoured the market for a better camera app with the adjustments that this phone deserves. And I'm settled with camera fv-5. Hasn't got very good reviews but it suits this phone better than the stock one.

Does this app prevent the zoom breathing that happens when recording videos with the stock camera app?
Haven't tried video and not sure what you mean by breathing .
The photo shots come out better and bigger file sizes. And you can adjust sharpness and saturation ect , like on htc. More control over camera adjustments.

Have any of you noticed when running third party cameras (even the Google camera) that there are white specks in the video. You can really see it in low light.
The only camera app that doesn't do this is the LG Stock camera.
Just curious. It's a bummer, I love the custom ROMs, but the camera is a deal breaker for me.
I know that there is a port, but it's too glitchy. I missed some really great photo opportunities because it "couldn't connect to camera".

We already know that video recording bug is present on our devices running cm11 so we should wait for stable ion kernel

[REQ] G2-optimized GoogleCamera

Hey folks!
The recently published new camera app from Google has some nice features. Unfortunately, as many other camera apps for the G2, this camera app lacks in picture quality in comparison to the G2 stock camera and its derivatives...
I'm not a developer but I thought that maybe it would be possible to modify the GoogleCamere to shoot better pictures using our beloved G2...
What do you think?
Bye, Spatz

Why not just use one of the posted g2 camera mods? They're already optimized.

Because,
1. most of them are only updated for stock roms and
2. the don't have those nice new functions like focus control, that the new GoogleCamera offers...
The camera mods change more than just the camera app.
I find the Google camera just as good as far as basic photo quality.

Most of the optimisations in the camera of OEM phones is in the app, but many are in the Kernel. Without both you will never get the same level of quality.
Porting them over is just not possible since its not just about settings, but also drivers and often you will not get the benefit of the drivers without the OEM app.
I wouldn't mind only a mod to select 16:9 for pictures instead of only 4:3 formats.

OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) in Third Party Apps Google Camera CM11

I just have a doubt, LG G2 here. Does OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation) work when using third party apps, like Google Camera (Play Store), while in custom ROMs (CyanogenMod 11 here)? I don't know if it is using OIS or DIS...
Thanks.

seeing how OIS is essentially shock absorbers built into the camera hardware I'm going to assume it will work.

I don't think it is... It's super shaky now...
It works. Its built into the camera hardware. As long as the camera works ,OIS will.
